ALOHA!
Just checking in on my very expensive internet minutes! We are in Maui today and I am getting ready to get off the ship and shop! We are having an awesome time but still wish it was Disney!!

Any word on the new Disney ships yet? Heard a rumor that it was suppose to be announced in December that Disney was getting 2 new ships. I am getting ready to look at some more threads. I havent read the board yet but did see something about Garry's Dad. Don't know what wrong but hope everything is ok.

Spoke to Missy on the phone she is snowed in with a sick baby with no pain medicine. Makes me feel bad for not being there to help her.

Better run.

LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

WHAT A GOOD SUPRISE, to see Barb's post. :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc Good to hear that you are having a great time. I can't wait to hear about more of your trip. I feel so priviledged that you used some of your minutes on us. No word on any new Disney Ships and yes it has snowed quite a bit here!!! Hope Ethan gets to feeling better.

Hi guys! Just wanted to give you an update. The news is not good. The surgeon came in FINALLY tonight around 8pm. He told us that the PET scan showed two spots on his lung and 2 more spots on his spine. Along with the tumor that crushed the vertibre, that makes 5 total so far. He told Garry's dad that it's lung cancer that has gone into the bone. He is still having the surgery to remove the tumor so he can at least walk again. All I know is this is a HUGE blow. We will know more as to what stage the cancer is in after surgery tomorrow. The cancer dr. will talk to us tomorrow too.

Well, gonna go. This is not NOT what I was expecting at all. His dad was a trooper when told, but he is stunned! We stayed with him until he fell asleep tonight. I will try and keep you all posted.

Sandy, thanks for the card!

Julie - I'm so sorry. Prayers, pixie dust and positive thought are being sent your way. Thank you for taking the time to update us, we will continue to pray.

Went to my mom's house yesterday and the windows look really good.

Wishing I was in Hawaii with Barb and Sally.

Julie: Hang in there. I know it is tough, especially when you are the one trying to be upbeat. That is how I was with Jerry's dad. Remember what I told you yesterday. You have to eat something.

Barb: I was just wondering about you. We watched Pearl Harbor on Sunday and was wondering if you would get a chance to visit the Arizona Memorial. I wish I was in Hawaii right now, it is cold and snowing.

Kaleigh is on a new antibiotic as of yesterday. The other one just didn't clear up her infection. She wants to go play in the snow, but she can't. She coughs so much when she goes in the cold and so do I.

We have a few inches of snow. DIdn't even know it was supposed to accumulate.

Jerry worked from home yesterday until about 11 AM and then we put up the Christmas tree. Yippeee!!!!!!!!!

The puppet show on Sunday was OK. The kids enjoyed it though.

Sandy: Good luck with all that painting. I don't mind it, but I hate doing a room more than once. We had to basically paint the powder room 3 times.

Aloha!
We are getting readyt to get off on the big island again today. We are going to a sea horse farm then on a sail boat cruise. should be fun. Everyone is doing great here and having a AWESOME time. It does not seem like Christmas here.

Julie-Prayers and Pixie Dust for Garry's Dad.

Pixie Dust for Kaleigh too!!

More later

Aloha, Barb. I don't know why but that sounds so funny at Christmas time. Glad to hear that you are having fun!

Julie, I surmised from Denine's post that you are not eating. It is sooo important to keep your strength up. It will be a long haul and you need to try and keep yourself healthy! I am sorry to hear about his cancer. It is so hard to say the right things to those we love when we hear the word "cancer". You remain in my thoughts.

Denine, that's sad that poor Kaleigh can't play in the snow. Hopefully she will get will now with the new antibiotic and then can play in the snow the rest of the season.

I forgot to add the new windows are in. I love them. It really "cleans" up the look around here. Now I would love to have new window dressings. Yea, right. Not in my lifetime!

Talked to Julie. Garry's dad is still in surgery. At this point, if it is the lung cancer that spread to the bone, it is stage 4, not good at all. The 2 spots on his lungs are only about 1 centimeter each though, so who knows?

Julie feels like she has a rock in her stomach. She doesn't want to eat, but it feels better when she does, but only for about 15 minutes. I told her to try protein shakes. She thinks she has an ulcer.

Julie has been at the hospital all day. She said she would let us know when they find out anything.

Barb: Sounds like you are having a wonderful time! :sunny:

Sandy: Glad you like your new windows!

Today was not a good day. I really hope tomorrow is better. Kaleigh has a last chance to be good so St. Nicholas comes tonight and brings her that checker game she thinks is for her cousin. She hasn't mentioned it since we got it though.

Sandy sent me the link...dont feel like writing much now (Sandy can explain why) but prayers to Julie and Garry . Guess who

Welcome back Bonnie. :cool1: :sunny:  Hope to see you posting more. Hang in there, remember we all are really good listeners here. :grouphug: We miss you lots and you are well loved here.

Denine - Is Kaleigh being bad because she doesn't feel well? Thanks for updating us on Julie. I thought about the Lauter's all night last night. Tough times like this, I wish we could all get together for the person in need.

Welcome back Bonnie, please visit more often!

Heidi: Kaleigh is being bad because she is testing to see what she can get away with. I do think her cough is starting to get a little better with the new medicine.

Haven't heard from Julie. I am guessing it was a late night.

I am making chicken soup. Soon, I have to take the chicken out to take the meat off the bone.

Kaleigh was really excited about her checker game. She knows if she isn't good today, St. Nick will take it back tonight!

Today ins school, we made a christmas present for daddy from Kaleigh. Tomorrow we make bookmarks as presents and pinecone tree ornaments. Wish us luck.

I go back to the ortho doc tomorrow to check on my joint. I still hurt, but it may have improved slightly??????? Will see what he has to say.

Supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow.

Went to BJ's last night and they didn't have any of our favorite corn chips. I was really upset. It was the capper to a bad day. So, we had to get ones that gives you fewer chips for more points. I told Jerry to ask when they were getting more, I was afraid they stopped carrying them, but they have a shipment on order that should be in this week. We like our chips and wine at night, or chips and 7&7's or whatever!!!!!!!!

I did lose a pound this week. I only had 1 bowl of chips last night because I didn't have enough points, so I had 3 popcorn cakes. I am soooo tired of dieting!

I'll post if I hear anything from Julie.

Julie: We still should get together on Saturday. I know how much it helped us when we sat at your place that night and drank wine and talked. That was the day Jerry's dad's heart stopped. It was little bit of normalcy at a bad time. We can come over there, bring pizza, whatever.

Good Morning!

Well Hawaii is behind us now. It was so beautiful. It will take us 4 days to get home then back to work. yipeee. Now I start counting down to our Disney vacation in April. YIPEEEEEE!

Lots of sick people on the ship on the trip to Hawaii. They will no longer let us serve ourselves at the buffet and they emptied the hot tubs. Pain in the bu** but what do ya do? :confused3

I left Colorado thinking this would probably be my only trip to Hawaii but after being there I am determined to go again. It was incredible. It was especially nice since most of my family is here. Hope some day we can do it again.

Bonnie-Good to see you back. Wish you would stay.

Heidi-Sure miss our daily talks. Once I get back at work we will pick up where we left off. :chat:

Bob and I bought a beautiful painting in Hawaii. The artist paints very simular to Thomas Kinkade as far as the lighting changing when you change the light on it. It is a beach scene and so beautiful. It will look so nice in our tropical themed master bedroom. :artist:

Julie-Hope everything is going ok for you.

Hi Sandy :wave2:

Update from Julie: I talked to Julie earlier. The surgeon didn't come to see them until around 9:30 last night. He was able to remove the tumor that caused his vertabra to turn to mush, literally. He put in plates to stablize the spine at that part so he can walk. The news is that he can go through chemo and radiation to slow the growth, but it is not curable. It is lung cancer that spread to the bone. There are still the 2 tumors in the lungs and 2 more tumors on his spine that could do the same the tumor that was removed did. If he chooses chemo and radiation, he has about a year to live. But, they said it willl be ugly and painful. Julie said they still need to speak with the oncologist.
Garry took today off to regroup.
I talked to her about still getting together on Saturday, but it is pretty much up to Garry at this point. I just know how helpful it was for Jerry and I on the fateful day. I hope he agrees to get together.

Denine - thanks for updating us. My heart truly aches for the Lauters, I could cry right now thinking about how much sadness they are going through right now and I can't do anything to help. :grouphug:

Julie, I just don't know what I can say to make it feel better. I feel for you and your family. I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. Hugs to all of you.

Denine, what a good friend you are! A get together is such a good idea. It can help take their minds off of it even if it is just a couple of hours! Graci and I made a pine cone turkey for Thanksgiving.

Barb, sorry about the sick people onboard. It does sound like a pain. I am so glad to hear how much you loved Hawaii. You thought only Disney could make you happy. I love Thomas Kinkade's work!

Because Bonnie gave me permission, I thought I will tell you that she is very blue right now. She had been dating Frank for a few months now. Their relationship was called off yesterday. She loved him dearly and is hurting so much. I begged her to come "home" and we all could help her through it I told her that all of you helped me through the pain of the three deaths last year. It was very therapeutic being able to talk about it. Af far as that goes, maybe it could help Julie as well. I just know HOW much we all care for each other and want to help.

Hugs to all my DISney family. Love all of you to pieces.

Thanks Denine for the update on Julie. Prayers to her and the family.

Bonnie-Hope you come back to us. We all miss you and want you to help you through this.

Today is my Friday, I am so glad because I am not sure if I could make it another day at work. I am so proud of myself, I actually went to the gym last night and worked out!! I plan on going tonight too!!!!
