HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Denine, you are so correct. We shoveled out our house Friday. Saturday we shoveled out the other house and today Ted's dads house. WE ARE FINALLY DONE! Are you getting that rain that you were talking about?

Jeanne, we went to the liquor store with Heidi yesterday. I was thinking of you and bought ASTI. Mmmmm. I will toast you tonight.

Bonnie & I went to a surprise birthday:cake: :cake: :cake: for Joyce, her husband Les & her twin sister Janice. They said there was a total of 180 years in birthdays. I was afraid to post :ssst: any thing about the party because you can never tell when Joyce may pop on.

Poor Colorado - snow, snow everywhere!

SANDY: Bonnie gave Joyce & I a little bottle of Asti. I just know I won't stay up until midnight tonight since I have to work tomorrow. First day back in a week.

I should be watching the EAGLES but they already won a spot in the Wild Card Playoffs when Dallas lost today so they are taking out the regular Eagles players so they don't get hurt.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year. Wishing everyone health, wealth, love and happiness. Toodles:wave: :mickeyjum JEANNE

GO EAGLES!! The Broncos lost in overtime. I will drink my Asti and have one for you as well, Jeanne.

Just a quick post to let you all know we arrived safely. Patty's internet has been down pretty much since we have been here. Bob and I left on Thursday morning and instead of beating the storm we ran right into it. It was a little hairy for a while but all is well.

Wondering what Colorado looks like.

Better run we are preparing for our New Years celebration.

Love you guys!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

CONGRATS TO HEIDI AND CHRIS!!!

HI SANDY, DENINE, SALLY, BARB,AND JEANNE!!

I'll post more later. We are still alive around here. I have typed 2 real LONG post that have disappeared, so that's why I haven't been on lately. I'm here though!!!

Happy New Year!!

Julie, Julie, good to hear from you. I miss my little sister more than you know.

Ted and I were bad, real bad. Bonnie was complaining that she didn't have anyone to welcome the new year in with by banging pots and pans. Well, ummm, we called her ten our time, midnight hers banging pots and pans. We woke her up. It was fun. She was a great sport.

Barb, thank you VERY much for posting. We were all very worried about you. Check out the road reports before heading back. When are you coming home?

Let's help Heidi by giving her color ideas for her wedding. Anyone????

Hi guys!

Heidi, I worked in bridal store, so if you have any questions or concerns, just drop me a line. A few tips for you..... (take them for what they are worth) but......1. try on ALL types of dresses. Even if lets say you had your heart set on a strapless dress, try on at least 1 of the other styles just so you know that you don't like that style or you MIGHT like one you never thought you would. Try on ones with trains (long, short) and ones with removable trains and ones without. DO NOT buy a dress UNTIL you have tried on at least 8-10. Even if the first one you try on is THE ONE, go and try it on again and again with other people each time (or repeat some persons, you don't want to have everyone see it of course) I would recommend... your mom, sister, Chris's mom and of course the twins and I would take dad one time as well. I don't know if you have a favorite aunt or grandparent but them too if you would like. Even if everyone LOVES a dress on you but you aren't in love with it, DO NOT LET THEM TALK YOU INTO THAT DRESS. It is your day and your choice ( I know your family isn't like that, but some sales persons can be VERY pushy!!) 2. You need to decide on the time of year you are going to get married. Fall, Spring, Winter or Summer. Before you go dress shopping. 3. Once you decide a date, keep in mind, that some dress manufactors need at least 4 months to get you the dress and that DOES NOT include alterations which you want to give your seamstress at least another month so you aren't rushing them. 4. IF you decide to buy off the rack, TAKE the TIME to go over that dress with a fine tooth comb!!! Look for beads missing, ripes that might have been fixed by hand, stains and stains that have been removed. My experience with off the rack dresses is even though they are cheaper, you have to remember that others HAVE been in your dress and has tried it on. It isn't "officially" yours and only yours. Also, 9 out of 10 dresses off the rack has had "something" (some very very small) wrong with them or something missing etc. If you have the time, buy a new one and you will feel even more special. 5. Once you purchase the dress, take your dress out of the bag and let it hang in a room with NO NO SUNLIGHT and NO ANIMAL access AND in a dry place. I have had brides come to me, they bought thier dress a year ago or even 4 months ago and left the dress in the bag it came in from the store and somehow insects got into the bag and ate through the dress or it was exposed to sunlight and the dress faded in spots or it got wet and has water or mold marks. Now, those are the most extreme cases that I had seen when I worked in the bridal store, but it has happen. 6. When it comes to the bridesmaid dress, take ONLY 1 or 2 and I mean only 1 or 2 bridesmaids with you at first. Have them try on different dress styles. Let them choose no more then 3 for the rest of the bridal party to try on. Majority rules. Make sure YOU agree with the dress choices so you won't be unhappy with the choice. ALSO, make sure the dress YOU LIKE for them comes in the color you have choosen. I had a bride come in and choose a dress for her girls, it looked great on all of them, and then she found out it didn't come in the color she wanted! I have also seen a bride choose a color of dress (for example, periwinkle very pretty color between a light purple and blue) and told her girls they could choose any style as long as it was the same color. I have also had brides choose 3-5 dresses and told each girl to pick they style that they felt most comfortable in. The good thing with that is that the bride MADE sure that the dresses did come in the same color she wanted and each dress came from a "sister manufacturer" so she new that the colors would match. Just some points to ponder. You can take the info for what its worth, use some, all or none. Just wanted to give you some info from my experiences. If you would like more info, just ask! I love doing this kind of stuff.

Colors...... hmmm.... did we decide on a time of year? How many in the party? Age range of the people? I need some more info in coming up with some color choices.

Well, gonna go. I'll be back on later!

One more thing Heidi, are you going to have a maid of honor, a matron of honor or Both? Are you going to have her/them in a different color dress or just carry different flowers? You CAN have BOTH maid and a matron of honor. It's up to the bride. If the twins are under 14-15yrs old, consider making them a Jr. bridesmaid. Usually the jr. bridesmaid can get the same dress as the other bridesmaids, BUT if the "older" ladies of the bridal party choose a more "mature" looking dress, you might want to put them in something in the same color but different style. OR if you are going to wear white, eggshell, ivory, pink, blue, silver, gold (yes dresses some in all those colors.......) you might want them to match your color dress. Just some more to think about! I fitted a bridal party where the brides dress with ivory with gold accents and the bridesmaids were in gold and the jr. bridesmaids were in ivory and they carried red roses. The flower girl was in an ivory dress with a layer of net (which looped around to the top to form a pouch to hold the petals ) over the skirt with rose petals between the layers of net. You can do this with any dress with a plain skirt and have a seamstress add a layer of net to the skirt with the fake rose petals between the net layers. Sorry to give you so much info, but when things come to me, I want you to know about it. (don't feel bad to tell me to just shut up too! LOL! I won't get my feeling hurt if you do).

JULIE: Boy you can be Heidi's personal wedding planner. All your advice sounded great!:bride:

BARB: So glad to see you posted. You had us worried.:cold: :cold:

SANDY: Loved the Bonnie story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Work was really slow. Just me and one other nurse on the floor and a total of 12 patients. It is a good thing we were slow because I went to bed at 11:30 PM last night and couldn't fall asleep and then the fireworks :welcome: started and the dog:dogdance: started barking and kept barking for an hour, then the electric went out so my alarm had to be reset. I shouldn't complain about this but both the boys called me to wish me a "Happy New Year" so I got a grand total of maybe three hours sleep. Thank God I don't have to work tomorrow:dance3:

Wishing you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!:rainbow: :jumping1: Toodles:wave: :mickeyjum JEANNE

Hi Everyone
Hope everyone had a great New Years Day. Our's was great. Lots of family and lots of food! We are leaving for home tomorrow around 7:00. Hope the roads are clear.

Heidi- Love to help with the wedding any way I can. I did all the planning for mine & Missy's and most for Jason's. Lots and Lots of details to take care of.

Will talk to you all soon from Colorado

Jeez Julie, where were you when I was planning my wedding?????

Barb: Hope you made it home safely.

We had a nice NYE. Dinner turned out really good, but I have a ton of ham left. We had a nice relaxing day yesterday. We had our pork and saurkraut and spaetzle dinner. Kaleigh woke up with a cold Sunday morning. Probably got it from her cousin on Friday.

Nice and sunny today. No snow in the forecast for the next week. Too warm to snow!

Started back to school today.

Glad to hear from everyone in the New Year.

I made the yummiest appetizers on Sunday if you like crab. It was a light recipe too. Very easy too. Let me know if any of you are interested.

Julie, Heidi is planning for Chris' twins to be the Jr. Bridesmaids. She even has their dresses picked out. SOOOOOOO cute. They have a pearl pink trim so she is trying to come up with her colors around that. Thanks for the tips!

Barb, you have already left but still....be very careful. They are saying 4 foot drifts down there.

Jeanne, Bonnie was a good sport thank goodness. She said that she fell right back to sleep. Poor you though. I haven't stayed up till midnight for a long time. I sure paid for it yesterday!! :rotfl:

Denine, I was thinking about weight. How did you do over the holidays? I was so shocked. I weighed myself and only gained 2 pounds. I mean I ate anything I wanted, when I wanted. Man, my body must have liked a change or something. I just can't figure it out but I am very happy. I went on a special diet yesterday and already weigh less than I did before Christmas. All I did yesterday was eat lots of meat fried in butter, green veggies and light salad dressing. It says to use "lite" salt for potassium. It is a two day diet. I am suppose to drink their special juice but didn't have enough for both Ted and I so we just had half of what it called for.

Julie - you are the best!!!! I need all the help I can get, I appreciate all the tips and info you are giving me. I am definitely planning on a summer wedding. The girls will be 10 years old so I planned on them being Jr. bridesmaids. I have no idea what the difference is between the Maid of Honor and matron of honor , can you please enlighten me and tell me what the difference is? I want Joey to be the flower girl and Tyler to be the ring Bearer, hoping they will be the right age!!!!! The party will probably include 3 people on each side plus the girls and Joey and Tyler...so 11 people. I want the girls and Joey to wear this dress, I absolutely fell in love with:

I think I have slimmed down my choice of color scheme to 2, now I just have to pick one. I like the pearl pink and then a darker pink like magenta...or I want a lilac purple, a darker purple and silver.

Stacey has been so awesome helping me get started. Her and Rich picked up tons of magazines and sought out a Bridal show for me to help me out. It is this Sunday. She is the best. My mom has been very helpful too, I am thankful because it has been a little overwhelming for me.

Barb - thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it!!! I hope you made it home okay. Please post as soon as you can so we know you are okay.

Hi Heidi! The difference between a Maid of Honor and a Matron of honor is one is single (maid) and the other is married (matron). If you go with both, the maid of honor is suppose to stand next to the bride and the matron next to the maid, BUT you DO NOT have to follow that. I had both. The dress you have picked out for he girls is adorable. Make sure before you have your heart set on it that it does come in older girl sizes. Some flowergirl dressess only go to a size 6 or 8. AND remember bridal dress for EVERYONE are not a true size!!!! You might wear a size 6 in "real" clothes and a size 10 in bridal. DON'T freak out about the sizes and tell your girl the same thing. OH YEAH, if you are a inch or a little more larger then the smaller size dress, DO NOT go with the smaller dress size and think you (or anyone) will lose the weight. You MIGHT lose the inch or 2 BUT play it safe. I have always told my brides that it is easier to take a dress in, BUT not so easy to let a dress out. Many dresses don't give the seam allowance to have the dress made bigger. FYI! When choosing a color scheme, make sure if you go witht the light pearl pink, that the person taking photos has the correct color filter so the pictures look like girls in pearl pink dresses not cream, ivory, peach or white in bright light. Same with the light purple, if the wrong filter or lighting is used, the dresses can come out light blue or funky purple color and if you go with a dark flower from the same color scheme (dr. pink or purple etc.) and the dresses get faded out the flowers can look totally out of place. All I can tell you is to research the dresses and your photographer and where you will have the wedding and so on. I like the light purple (periwinkle it's called) with the dark purple flowers. I have also seen a bridal party where every other girl is in a light dress and the others in dr. purple and those girls carried light colorer flowers and those in the light dresses carried the dr. flowers. The bridal flowers are white with both the dr and light purple flowers in it. Don't be surprised either if the jr. bridesmaid dresses are the same or might be more then the bridesmaids! They can range from$80's to $200 or more for the pre-teen dresses. OH and another thing, make sure all your girls get their dresses at the SAME store and the store orders the dresses TOGETHER! I have seen girls who have thier bridesmaids order thier dresses from other stores (and sometimes from the same store but at different times) and the dresses are a different color. That is because all of the dresses where not cut out of the same fabric bolt so the colors aren't an exact match. If you have a girl out of town or state, make sure she get measured at a seamstress or bridal store. SOMEONE who KNOWS how to take measurements. Do not have the girls take them themselves. Just some more info you can take, throw away or store. PLEASE tell me if I'm getting on your nerves and tell me to stop. This is one area that I really enjoy talking about! Can you tell? LOL!

Well, gotta go. I have to take Makenzie to the dr.'s in about 2 hours. I KNOW she has an ear infection (she has fluid leaking from her ear and it hurts) so we are starting our New Year just like the old one ended! OH BOY! And next week, (monday to be exact) Big Garry is going to the foot dr. because we think he had the same thing wrong with his foot as I did. THe tumor in the foot. NICE! SO he might be looking at surgery as well!(it just keeps getting better doesn't!) LOL!!!

TFFN

Yikes, fluid leaking from her ear? Poor Makenzie! And then.....possible surgery for Big Garry. Does it ever end?

Julie - you are not gettng on my nerves at all, you have been very helpful. The dresses I posted are for girls and come in sizes 2T-14. Very interesting info about the photography, thanks!!!!

My mom and I went to Hobby Lobby and picked flowers to see which one I like best. I can't decide. I will have to take a picture and have you guys see which one you like. I definitely have to go show Stacey...maybe she can help me choose.
