Hi guys. just popping in. Things around here are still crazy. Dad is still in the hospital. They did move him to another floor (rehab) and they have him in PT for 4 hours a day. They decided to wait on the other foot right now. There is still a huge ulcer on it, but they are trying to get him use to working with the amp leg. The infection in the blood system is gone. They sent him down for a catscan the other day. He is still on an anti drip IV twice a day. He could be on this floor for another 4 to 6 weeks. IF he continues to work at it, and he gets fitted for his "play leg" (what Makenzie calls it) they MIGHT let him come home. That is great news for everything he has gone through. He is far from being healthy, but it's baby steps. We now have to get moving on getting a ramp built for my parents house. IF they let him come home, he will be in a wheelchair for some time and the house must be wheelchair acceptable or they will not let him come home. THe guys at the FOP/FOPA (faternal order of the police) lodge said that they will build it for my mom, we just have to give them the ok and make arrangements for them to do it. We are sorta "iffy" about putting it up because there is a strong possibility that they will send him to a nursing home instead of letting him come home. So we are dealing with that. He is alittle more up beat then before which is a good thing. It is one day at a time. Thanks for all the well wishes.
Everyone here has a cold or a sinus infection. Makenzie (knock on wood) is the healthiest. The Big Guy has a really bad cough and Brooke is at the tail end of a really runny nose. Garry has a nice cold and I'm the one getting the sinus infection. Makenzie has brownies tonight and I get Anna Marie this weekend.
Ok, here is the story about the day they took my dad to the hospital. The night before (it was a Wed) my dad didn't feel like walking so my mom got the wheelchair (the one I got to use from our church) and wheeled my dad to the bedroom. She then couldn't get him up out of it to put him to bed. She tried for 1 and a half hours before she decided to call the squad. (she didn't want to bother Garry or I or my brother which I told her was stupid). Anyways, the guys came and were super sweet and got my dad up and in bed. They were a bunch of nice guys and told my mom who felt silly she called them and told her anytime. That is what they are there for. SO, the next morning Garry was at work and my mom took the day off from school because my dad had a dr.'s appt and she was going to watch Brooke for me because The Big Guy had a field trip that morning and then she was going to go to Makenzie's school for lunch since it was lunch with your child day since I didn't think that I would be back in time for it. ANYWAYS, I had called her that morning and she said she hadn't gotten dad up yet because of the night before. I told her that she wasn't going to watch Brooke since all of this with my dad and luckily my brother's furnace went out so he was going to watch her for me. SO, I'm on the road going to this field trip when my brother calls and says that mom called the squad because she couldn't get my dad up and he wasn't really answering her. I called Garry and he said he got the call from dispatch and he was on his way over and everyone of course tells me to go with the Big Guy. Well, that is when it really gets interesting. The squad comes along with another fire truck. 4 guys go back to the bedroom and asked my dad what was wrong and my dad responded "I have to go to the doctors". Then this little idiot whips around to my mother and said "look lady we aren't taxi service". Then he preceeds to repremand my mother about why they are there and she called in a false "report" because the call went out at the fire station it was that that a 64 male, not breathing. WHEN in fact my mother called and said she can't get her husband out of bed and she thinks he might have had a stroke. The dispatcher then asked if he was concious (sp) and my mother said barely since he wasn't really answering her questions besides no, yes and a moan here or there. And that is how the dispatcher reported to the fire desk. It is all on tape and Garry did hear exactly what was said.
OOPS, gotta go get the big Guy from preschool. I'll finish the story later on. SOrry for not finishing it....... but it gets better!!
