Is anyone else planning on taking one of the tasting classes? DH and I have heard a lot about the mixology class and are going to look into taking that one. It would be nice to know some other people in there- let me know if anyone is planning on signing up!:wave2:

I would like to do that. On one of our previous cruises, we took a martini tasting class. It has been a while since we did that. What class are you thinking about?

I think we are going to try to get into the mixology class. It sounds like fun!

When are the classes offered? We've thought about it in the past, but ran out of time? How does that happen on vacation? :rotfl2:

When and where do I sign up for the mixology class? I looked on the disney cruise website but I can't find it on there.

You sign up as soon as you get on the ship (well, as soon as possible after enjoying a nice lunch and a drink or two!;)). Go to guest services-they keep the list of classes and the times there. :wave2:

i did a search and found this - We did the mixology class on the Fantasy, June 16th sailing. Shortly after boarding, I went to guest services to inquiry when the class would be, and to get tickets. The class was our second sea day, and I got the last two tickets. We went to the class and had a fantastic time. There were 20 of us, so the bartender had us count off, making 4 groups of 5. The number 1's went behind the bar, and made five of the first drink based on the bartender's instructions. When done, everyone enjoyed the first drink, then the number 2's went behind the bar. They made 5 of the next drink, and again everyone enjoyed. By the time the number 5's went behind the bar, all were feeling pretty good after the first four drinks. We all learned a lot, and had a great time. We asked him if he would do another. He took our room numbers, and said he would get back to us. Two days later, he called and said he scheduled a second class. This was in addition to another mixology class that was listed in the navigator for that day. We had Daniel as our bartender, and he said he did it differently then the other bartenders, and we definitely liked his way better.

My recommendation for getting tickets. Go to Guest Services as soon as you are able. If they are out of tickets, continue checking back with them. We saw they added a second class based on the Navigator entry, so this was at least one additional class. And we knew about our additional class, because it was created just for us. However, there were a few newbies who participated in our second class. The one thing we found was that sometimes Guest Services did not know about things that were planned outside the navigators. If you can't get tix, ask which bartender is teaching (or where the scheduled class would be). Then go to that bartender or bar, and ask directly. There could be other classes that GS just doesn't know about.

2 things - is it offered on the 3 night cruise and looks like it sells out quickly

Randy

Do you mind putting Sophia's age as (3) under VWLUVNRN, I don't know that it matters but just in case. Thanks...We are really getting excited now!

Hi everyone, we just wanted to pop in and say :wave2: As you can see, we are new, but not to the boards. It has been a while since I logged on though. Any old time Disers know me as "Tink". Kind of :cool1: as I share the name with the starter of the thread. (Even though, I had it first. :lmao:).

I use to hate when people join our thread at the last minute, almost as if they just decided to crash the party, but I am sorry as we just booked this cruise last week, last minute. We have never cruised on a last minute plan either, so I am a little :scared: . We are DCL vets though. We have not been on a shorter cruise for 9 years, as we always do 7 days, but did decide on this one as the dates were perfect and we have several deposits that just sit with DCL with dummy dates.

My DS is entering High School in the fall and we did not make a decision of where we accepted until late June. Once looking at his school calendar & DD's, I realize this is the ONLY time besides Christmas & Thanksgiving they are off together. They are off school that Thursday thru Sunday, so PERRRRFECT:woohoo: We have not been on the Dream, so why not..... We have cruised the Wonder once & Magic multiple times.....

So let me tell you a little about us.... We are cruising with DD10, then 11, DS 14, DH & myself. First cruise where we are not actually ON the ship ON our ACTUAL birthdays or anniversary, so this is a little different.;)

We do not do FE, so do not worry about adding us to the list. I guess I do "do them" as I have made them for several DISers over the years, I just do not participate though when on the ship. Nice idea, just that I do not like the extra packing or the running around the ship to deliver. So we will pass there, but do have fun.

I have to now go back & read the thread to try to place a mental image of my cruisemates. I will be honest to say that we have become so close with most of our cruise threads in the past, that we are almost 2nd family, but this time we do not have much get to know you time.... SO PLEASE introduce yourselves if we have a common thread. Ok, off to read, at least I am not coming in to a 100 page thread.:upsidedow:crazy2: so off to catch up & :coffee::hippie:

Hi Cheri!
Welcome aboard! We are kind of a quiet group, I hope once we get a little closer to the cruise date people will become more active! We are glad to have you and your family!

I'm not quiet, I'm just screaming on the inside. :jumping1:

I can't wait to meet all or most of you. In all of the years we have gone to Disney, I have never met another Diser! We have never done FE's either. It feels like the date is finally getting closer. I can't wait for my kids to start school so I can start making FE gifts. I have so many ideas and I'm afraid I will forget all of them before I get a chance to work on them. :roll eyes:

My kids are still blissfully clueless about the big surprise. I have gone over the
"Big Reveal" so many times. My oldest is hooked on the Disney promotional cruise dvd. She also watches all of the Disney cruise "surprise" videos on you tube. I'm going to have to step up my game and make this surprise worth it. I'm more excited about the cruise than I am about the parks. I'm not sure how I am going to hold onto the cruise secret after we reveal the parks secret. Oh well... 75 days and counting until we leave for Florida. :cheer2:

I have started my FE gifts so for me that is the its really getting close moment! I love crafting at night during Tv time.

Me too! But it usually means being anti-social for me because it's a sewing thing, and that means I'm hiding out in another room. :rotfl:

I am not sure that that means you are being anti social, but you are just being smart! I need to find a different room so that I can have 5 minutes of peace. I am not sure how the rest of you are doing, but I am ready for the kids to go back to school! Unfortunately in New England, we are not back until the END of August.

Welcome! I have been meaning to add an entry just like yours, but keep forgetting- thanks for the reminder! DH and I do not care to participate in the FE, either. Since it is just the two of us this time and the cruise is so short, we are going to pass. We may participate when we cruise with our kids. :wave2: I do hope we see some of you at the mixology class, though! :upsidedow

Great information- thank you! I guess I will go to guest services as soon as we get on board. I hope we can all get in the class- it sounds like fun!:cool1:

So we have cruised in January and April but never in October. The water was actually really nice in January. How is it in October? Has anyone sailed in October?
