October 17, 2009 Western

well... because I am a big kid (and I have none), I think I WILL dress up for Halloween. I LOVE Halloween, I love to dress up, I love scary things...

However, the only thing that might stop me from dressing up is the packing... I might have too much stuff, so I don't know... if it fits, the halloween costume comes!!!

prob not us adults....Maybe the kiddos will.:woohoo:

Being on the cruise is a treat in itself!! HAHA :laughing:

Well on this topic I have not hid my feelings. I don't do Halloween period. To all that do. Have fun. It is not for me. All I know is that I am super tired after being on hold for 90 min when DCL opened today so I can get on the Panama Canal cruise. I am at work, on 4 hours sleep. Can't wait for this day to end. Oh and I was able to book everything I needed to for that cruise.

I am so jealous that you got to book the PC cruise. That is over my birthday and that would have been so much fun. But too much school and to much work that we would be missing. Looking at an Mexican or an Alaska in 2011. We will probably book on the cruise to see if we get a discount.

Did you get an OBC for being a CC member?

She did not mention one. I was going to try and reshop it on the ship in a few weeks, but a little birdie who works for DCL told me it sold out. We will have to wait and see.

QOTD: Are you dressing up for Halloween celebrations on board??\

I'm still on the fence - not sure if I can get a good grown-up costume :)

Good Morning All,

My three kids will be dressing up. I believe my oldest is going as his favorite Star Wars character, my middle is going as Superman, and my little one is going as a pirate or Minnie. DW and I will probably just be wearing some Halloween t-shirts or something along those lines.

Lets talk upgrades... Seeing April's post on the main forum and that she is upgraded herself to cat 7... I did some checking yesterday on availability on our cruise... Seems like it isn't that full, compared to others that I have checked..

CAT 4: at least 8 availabe
CAT 5: at least 8 available
CAT 6: GTY only
CAT 7: 1 room available
CAT 8: at least 8 available
CAT 9: at least 8 available
CAT 10: at least 8 available

Not, they only ever show you a choice of 8 rooms.

Yes I am happy with my pixie dust pixiedust: upgrade to CAT 9, but if I can upgrade a port to a CAT 7-4 I would be extremely happy. :yay:

Laura

Is there a possibility to get a free upgrade in the port? I got upgrade to cat 10 from 12 GTY.. But in the deck 1.. I read that many people not happy with Deck 1. I won't mind getting the same cat 10 but in higher deck. Anyone had experience with moving to different stateroom?

I appreciate for any advices...Thanks alot :)

Oh no - I've corrupted a fellow cruiser! :lmao: I'm not sure what I'll end up with, but anything is fine really. I just wanted my husband to have the balcony experience at least once, and this was by far the cheapest I'd be able to do it.

I think most of the unhappy deck one people are in cat 9, not cat 10. The cat 9 rooms on deck one just have two tiny portholes instead of the one giant window they get on deck two. The only other complaint I've heard is that you can only access deck 1 via two of the elevators. The third elevator only goes to deck 2.

This is our first Disney cruise (first cruise for that matter) and I have no idea what to expect. I've started planning out what I think my day will look like, and it seems very busy.

What's the atmosphere like on the boat? Is it hectic, are most people running around from activity to activity, or is everyone relaxed and there is plenty of time to participate in fun events and enjoy the ocean breeze?! I can't imagine doing a 3 or 4 night as my first cruise. At least a 7 days will help us feel like we've gotten our cross country flight's worth, even if we don't get to do everything we'd like to and spend most of our time lounging around the pool :goodvibes

April - Thanks very much for your advice regarding my passport question on the main cruise board. Your suggestions were the most sensible and I plan to follow them.

I wasn't sure if there was some master database somewhere that would compare DS8's passport info to his birth records and then reject the passport, but it sounds like we'll be OK. We'll still bring both the birth certificate and the passport, but I can't imagine that there will be a problem. If the passport office can't read an application and birth certificate properly, I doubt that a customs agent glancing quickly at the passport would notice (even if they knew his correct middle name!).

Thanks again for the help, April, and congrats on your upgrade. Now back to the fun parts of planning! :woohoo:

It is as hectic or relaxing as you decide to make it. I tend to go from activity to activity all day long. My husband spends the days eating and sleeping, then eating and sleeping some more. :goodvibes

Then he should be very happy you talked him into a Verandah room!

April - you didn't corrupt me I have been thinking about this for a while. That is why I am getting to the port early. I am happy to say that this ship does not seem as full as the may cruise we attempted to sale on. At this time frame there wasn't as many available rooms to choose from. But that might mean they make some offers to get the ship full.

You can call and ask to move, when I checked CAT 10, all the available ones were on Deck 2, the most they can say is no because the lifeboats are full for that area. That is the last place I stayed and had a postive experience. I have read some good things about staying on Deck 1. If I can find them I will post.

Kind of the same here. On the ship, I like activities, dh likes to veg. He's happiest camped out on our veranda with a book and a beer.

You're most welcome - I had no idea you were on my sailing! Hopefully we'll get to meet up on embarkation day. :thumbsup2

Hey, Penny. I know you are a Residence Inn fan, and so am I, but since the in-laws are not going to stay with us the night before the cruise, we decided to cheap out and stay at La Quinta instead. 68.00 total. Residence would have been twice that.

That's right. We both used to post as frndofpooh, but DH recently got a different user name and now posts as BalooHoo. Most of our early posts in this thread actually came from DH.
