Hi everyone!
I just wanted to post to let you guys know that we have cancelled out cruise. Its a long story and it makes me so upset to even write this. I will explain things when we have them sorted out. Im really hoping to rebook, but its not looking very promising right now.
Kim

Kim, so sorry to hear that you've had to cancel. I know it's so hard to reset expectations when you've been looking forward to this trip for so long. Know that DCL will still be there when you are ready to go again. All of our thoughts are with you and you will be missed!

Morning All,

In the Grand Caymans, we are looking at a tour that would get us back to port between 3:30 and 4:00. All aboard is 4:45, for anyone who has been to the Caymans before does that leave enough time for catching the tender?

Thanks,
Pete

I know we were planning on doing Boatswien through DCL and that had a return of 3:45. Not sure if that was back to the Tender or back on the boat.

Actually am rethinking that excurision because not sure I want to spend our whole time at GC on an excursion and not have any time to hang around the port. I have seen some neat pictures around the port. Any good ideas with a 7 year old?

Thanks! I also just spoke with DCL and they said being back to port around 3:30 - 4:00 would leave plenty of time for Tender.

Yeah, I am with you on wanting to hang around port as well since the beaches look great. Decisions, decisions, I wonder if there are any good bars right around the beaches :0)

I am sorry to read this. I am sure you are feeling disappointed. I wish it weren't so.:sad1:

Hi guys!! Not sure if there are any readers on board but since we're still in summer mode, here's a book-related QOTD:

What book are you reading now? Would you recommend it to us?

I'm reading for a course - a classic "The Woman in White" by Wilkie Collins... and I'm enjoying it so far -- it's surprising because you'd think this tome written around the time of Dickens would be long-winded and well, boring.. but it isn't. Full of intrigue and interesting writing and a very different perspective from the typical crime/mystery novel. Recommend it if you're interested in this type of genre..! :)..

Pete - Now you have me rethinking my excursion ideas. Also have been reading the resent threads on Boatswain and maybe need to find something that gives us a bit of time to return to the ship at GC. But we had planned on just taking it easy on Cozumel.

Paying off the cruise this week (along with with Hospital bills :headache: from our previous cancelled cruise timeframe), so I can be ready for the 90 day mark of booking.

I just finished reading Firefly Lane by Kristian Hannah. Very Light Summer reading, but be prepared for a box of Tissues.

Reading now Skinny Dip by Carl Hiassen. Not sure if it was recommended on this thread or another, but it is a cruise mystery novel, pretty interesting in the beginning (where I am at right now). I guess if you want to dispose of someone at sea, this might be the way to go, but haven't gotten far enough through the book yet to know if the husband gets caught.

Skinny Dip was recommended in the thread, somewhere WAYYYYY back! Let me know if it is as good as they said it was!

Ok... here's the burning question.....

WHERE'S WENDY???:rotfl2:

She has been absent from the boards for a bit and she is missing some stuff! She needs to check in!:3dglasses

Yeah, getting to the port between 3:30 and 4:00 will give you enough time to get aboard. The port's not that big and as you (or someone ) posted earlier, there are only a couple cruise ships in port that day. Personally, I'd feel a little anxious about hold ups at the end of the excursion but probably unnecessarily since these vendors know the ship schedules as well if not better than we do.

We have experienced the panicky feeling of being stuck in the sluggish crawl of afternoon rush hour in Georgetown with less than an hour to get from the dive shop to the ship.

I just finished Sick Puppy by Carl Haissan(sp?). Pretty entertaining.

I'm reading and listening to a few different books.

Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett - Hilarious - I'd recommend it but I love Terry Pratchett.

A Distant Mirror by Barbara Wertheim Tuchman - If you are interested in 14th Century history, I'd recommend it.

Servant of the Bones-Ann Rice - Not sure. I've only read 40 pages. It's certainly not boring.

You're right Penny! I'm moving to Aberdeen and can't wait to meet up with Wendy in person!! :)

QOTD:

Just finished up Twilight...all of my 7th and 8th grade girls kept telling me I needed to read it...not bad for a teenage love story, now on to New Moon. I also just finished one called Glass Castle...it was the authors memoirs...the book just kinda left me....speechless.

Oh, I read Glass Castle. It held my attention!

Right now, I am reading a Philippa Gregory novel: The Virgin's Lover. It is not as much of a bodice-ripper as it sounds.;)

Went ahead and booked our Cozumel and Grand Cayman excursions - contacted them directly instead of DCL. We went with Chankanaab national park at Cozumel for the Dolphin Swim and a snorkel charter at Grand Cayman. Woohooo! Feels great to actually be locking in some plans.

Have had that book for years and I LOVE it!! She was going to have Azriel have other books, but alas.. not so. I did the Mayfair Witches, and a few of the satnd alone titles.. couldn't the vampires, especially when combined with the Mayfair chicks... just too much. I read Belinda, which I believe she published under Rampling... And let's not forget the Beauty chronicles.... OH MY! <starts to fan herself>. By the third book I was like... If I have to read ONE MORE sex scene... <barf> Started out crazy and hot... just finally got bored with it. lol.
