Well, we just got back from a week at DisneyWorld with the kids and my parents! It was great weather all week!! Now I can really count down to my cruise vacation!!! I am so excited!! My mom now has it on her calendar to come up and watch the kids for us. My husband and I are really looking forward to getting away by ourselves. I know that I will really miss the kids, but enjoy it also. If everything works out, we are taking them on a 3 day in December with several days in the new Treehouses afterwards.

Welcome back! As someone who has never spent more than a day at WDW (and it was 20 some years ago and I didn't have children), what does a typical week look like? Do you go to a different park every day and stay all day? It's sounds exhausting but it must be awesome or so many families wouldn't do it as religiously as they do.

Our last cruise was a parents-only cruise. It was only 4 days but it was a wonderful time. We thought we would miss the kids but we didn't. I can't remember being so care-free and happy all the time. Our children are easy to take care of and we enjoy their company, but it was great to be able to do whatever we wanted without having to consider what the kids would want or need. You're going to love it.

200 days until we 'walk the plank' on the Magic! (sorry aan1701, had to throw in the pirate reference for you ;))

:sail:Can't wait! :sail:

No worries, but I did just roll my eyes when I read your post. You know I do not think words can be used to discribed how much I am over the whole Pirate thing. It is ( in my opinion) so over done. This is of course just one persons opinion.

I've never been on a Disney Cruise, and my 3 yr old loves Capt'n Jack (finally old enough to get into the Pirate stuff), so I'm not sick of it yet, but I can understand. I believe there is going to be a POTC 4, so you won't be able to hang up your eye patch just yet...
Anyway, I'll be sure to only put Ariel stuff in your FE...:thumbsup2

Hope work is getting better for you...see you and the rest of the group in 200 days!

That is funny cause Captian Jack is the whole reason I hate POTC. Also we do not do the FE thing. We just don't get it, but have fun. As fir work. It is Spring Break and that goes right into summer so it will slow down again by Sept.

How much snow is expected? I've been belly-aching about our area not getting a proper snow all winter, BUT I would not want it now that spring has sprung. I remember one Easter snow when I was about 9 or 10 years old.
Sorry, didn't check in here for a couple days. We were only forecasted to get a trace-2" in our viewing area, our area specifically a trace to .5". It turned out to be barely a dusting. Just the thought though. We've had shirt sleeve days, flowers are blooming, and then the snow comes. I WANT TO MOVE SOUTH! Do you hear that, Dale? Talk some sense into that boy of yours:wizard: We have a saying here in the Cleveland area. Don't like the weather? Stick around for about 10 minutes, it'll change....

I can't believe it. For a week now, I have been telling myself, can't wait, can't wait to say...........

HOORAY 200 DAYS!!!!!!

Shannon, come on down. Your DH must really like shiveling all of that white stuff. It was really nice in Florida while we were there last week. They have been praying for rain though. I think it was close to 50 days without rain and things were kind of dry.

Oh by the way, today is my first day of unemployment, UM I mean retirement. It really feels good so far. Fixed income - I am here!

This trip was quite different from our past trips. In the past we had annual passes and would sometimes hop parks to eat at Epcot fo dinner. We have normally went in the Fall when crowds are not as high. We have normally ate out for all meals. This trip we used our DVC points and mostly cooked in the room. My parents joined us and we were able to buy the military tickets without park hoppers. We really just wanted to spend time with them since we moved away from them last August. We have been to the parks so much and we know that we will be back so we just do what we really want to and and then what we can. The kids would rather have playground and pool time. So this trip was a lot more relaxing. I am not usually a person to leave the park and go back, so we get everything we want done and then head back to the room to relax. We have also normally gone to a halloween or christmas or pirate/princess party while there and that really gets on a night time schedule with the kids. This trip was more early to bed and getting up early....we actually made MK rope drop!!

My mom lives in Florida, a couple hours from WDW. She moved there in '85. Dh and I (and later with kids) have been down to visit her a bunch of times. You would think we would have gone to the parks as a matter of course but we only went once. I think it was in 1988. The adult one-day pass was $28.00 - a lot of money to dh and me as he had just graduated college and and I was still working my way through.

I'm afraid to even find out how much it would cost for the five of us now. I'm sure we would want more than a day pass this time.

The one day pass is around $75!!!

Yikes!!:scared1: That's a lot of loot for a family of five, but I guess it must be worth it because you rarely hear anyone say the experience was a rip-off.

Yazee,

I never thought of it, but you are right, i have never heard anyone complain about the price of the parks either. They really do have so much to see and do once u are inside that it is worth it. We have never gone for the day, and when we go we get park hopper passes so we can go in and out as much as we want.

Hmmm. I think I'm getting an idea for a land/sea done our family's way. For two or three days, we do the land part (parks) as a family and then for four days, dh and I do the sea part.

HI!! We're so late to the party but wanted to join in to say we'll probably be cruisin' with together on the Western Carribean in October!! :)

See you guys are getting along so well (and since 2008!!).

Hope to get to know you better!

Welcome! You're not so late. Probably, a bunch more people will sign up in the coming months.

Welcome missusem!!!!! I like to think we're a friendly bunch. Post again soon and tell us a little about yourselves!!!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We booked our airfare this evening. With over $100 in taxes our total for 3 tickets, R/T Cleveland to Orlando nonstop was just over $600. I'll take it. Now, all that's left is that pesky balance to DCL:rotfl: I ordered a new pair of Mickey Crocs for DS in the next size up, cuz I'm sure he'll grow this summer. They were on sale on crocs dot com for 15 bucks, and I scored a code for free shipping !!!!!

DH has been gone for 10 days. He's coming home tomorrow:lovestruc He had this planned golf vacation. And he was supposed to work out of town at the beginning of the week, come home and then leave for the trip. Well, he wound up being stuck out of town and had to leave for the vacay without coming home. I packed his suitcase (with the wrong golf shoes on accident) and sent it along with his uncle who was driving down. He travels quite a bit, but has never been gone this long. So glad he's coming home tomorrow!!!!!!!

We are going to have a quiet holiday here. My mom is coming over, and it will just be us 3 and her. DH really doesn't care for ham, so I am making the first annual Easter meatloaf:laughing:DS says I should make it egg shaped. DBIL and DSIL and DN will be coming later for dessert. We colored some eggs tonight, that was fun. Would love to hear your plans for the weekend. Anyone traveling for the holiday?

On a final note, I think it's time we start planning the FE exchange. I will organize. Anyone who is interested, just shoot me a pm, and I'll start a list. I am thinking perhaps doing small stuff for the kids each day, and maybe just one day for the adults? Adults 1 gift per cabin or per person? Let me know what you think. Has anyone started designing their FE? I have some ideas in my head. Have to draw it out and get some supplies. Asking DMIL to help me, she's the expert sewer/machine embroiderer:cheer2:

Well, I'm off probably for a few days, everyone have a wonderful holiday!!!!!

Wow! What airline are you flying? That is an awesome price. Congratulations. Where did you get a code for free shipping for Crocs? The last time we ordered Crocs for the family, we had to spend 75.00 for free shipping. (Not a problem since all five of us needed new Crocs).

Aww. Ten days is a long time. I don't mind a couple days, but after a few days, the pleasure of having the whole bed to myself wears off. I bet your ds really misses him too.

LOL, Easter meatloaf. That's perfect. You could hide something in the middle like people used to do with cakes in the old days. Maybe, a hard boiled decorated Easter egg. We aren't going anywhere either this year. We always go to my husband's parents' place but since they started spending half the year in Texas, we adult children don't always get together over the holiday. My husband's brother and his family were supposed to come here yesterday because my son was baptized last night but my daughter came down with a fever and a sore throat. Wisely so, my sister and brother in law didn't want to expose their four little ones to possibly getting sick.

Thank you for being the organizer. We already have a FE from our last cruise. It's the first one I ever made so it's not that great, but it's already made and that's a big plus! Most likely, we'll participate, but I'll let you know for sure at a later date. Depending on how many people participate, it might not be doable for us.

Hi Monica! :wave2: Found the free shipping here on the DIS boards of course!!! There was a big thread I'm guessing on the budget board, but maybe not. The thread topic was something having to do with CROCS potentially filing BK, or going OOB or something. The first code mentioned didn't work, but the second did. I probably wouldn't have ordered without. I don't know. I'd still be ahead of the game, with them being on sale and all, but the shipping was like 8 bucks on the 15 dollar purchase. C'mon:rolleyes:

We booked Continental!! I've been watching. We are about a half hour from Cleveland Hopkins, and are lucky enough to have another airport nearby. Akron/Canton is just under an hour. AirTran flies out of CAK. We were watching them, and they have had fares between $80 and $100 each way for some time now, and Continental out of CLE wasn't budging. So, it was looking like CAK and AirTran. Out of the blue the other night I checked on Orbitz and Continental flights out of CLE had the $188 price. Called DH while he was golfin and made sure ok. And we booked them that nite. YAY:banana:

I like the idea of a surprise in the meatloaf, and I think I've seen the hard boiled egg idea somewhere before. I'll have to sneak it in there. I'll Google it tonight and see if it should be in the shell or de-shelled:rolleyes1. I'll report back to say how it went over.

So sorry your daughter got sick, and on such a wonderful day! Wishing you much health and happiness!!!!
