Welcome Kristi! On the day we board the ship several of us are meeting up at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge. You are most welcome to join us!

:welcome: Kristi.. I am sure you will have a wonderul time without planning.
Where in N. CA are you located? Kerickson (DIS name) is also from N. CA and I grew up there.

My DD7 will be there and in the same club as your DD.

Kristi,

My SIL's family are meeting me (they are in Texas, we are in Tennessee) for this cruise. She has a 4 year old son named Logan. She isn't on the board, but I will see if I can get them hooked up somehow if you like. Are you flying in the day of or before?

Welcome to the group Kristi!

11 more days before we head to WDW for our pre-cruise activities. My DW has started gathering all of our stuff and getting the kids clothes for formal and semi-formal night. Our goal is one carry-on per person and three total checked bags. Figure we can get all of the kids clothes in one bag then DW and I would each have one bag leaving us room for any souvenirs. At least that's the plan!

Regards,
Pete

to teh board and cruising and trying to catch up. I have no idea how to personalize my posts but we are a family of 3 coming in from Texas. My 3 year old son is very social and loves to play with other kids.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Any Pixie dust recently? pixiedust:

I just checked the site and not as many open rooms as in the past week.
Cat 9 - at least 8 available
Cat 8 - 7 available
Cat 6 & 7 : GTY
Cat 5 - 5 available
Cat 4 - 8 available

I still will be trying at the port to upgrade if it is a resonable cost.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Now to read through the 2,000+ posts on this thread to get to know everyone.

I grew up in the Bay Area, and now I live outside of Sacramento.

Thanks for letting me know about the meet up at 3pm on embarkation day. I might be there.

We are flying in the day before and staying in Orlando over night and taking transfers to the pier Sat. morning.

I have been a huge Disney fan my whole life and got the great experience of working at Disneyland in 1997 and participating in their College Program. Unfortunately I have never been to WDW, but going on the cruise tops WDW for me.

Welcome, Kristi and Sean'smom! There's a huge amount of information on these boards, and it can get overwhelming if you're short on time. A good place to start is with the DCL FAQ thread, which is a sticky at the top of the Cruise Board. Here's a direct link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2068966. It gives a lot of specific information about many topics and contains links to much more information.

Also, feel free to ask any questions in this thread. I have found that there are some very well informed cruisers on this thread, and they are happy to share their information. Hope you have a great time!

and we're off!!! the van is packed and we are heading out the door for WDW this afternoon. We are going to Pop Century for 12 nights (with Free Dining) and then on to the cruise. We'll be the ones on the cruise that are walking around like zombies since we will already be tired out, but at least we'll be tan from the Florida sun. See you then!

DP, DS28 and me, are leaving 1 week from now. Renting a house with pool for 1 week. Going to MKNSSHP. DH arrives on the 16th. Can hardly wait. Bags are mostly packed. I have had those suitcases out now for 2 months and have packed and unpacked them a dozen times. What is there is there! All ironed and arranged. I know it's not smart to iron them all, after the plane ride they will need pressing again. Straight flight though and only 2 1/2 hour flight. How messy can they get, right? Since we are performers, we have a very busy weekend ahead. Then work for 4 days and away we go.

Performers??? did I miss something. Will you be performing in WDW or on the cruise?

Hi everyone,

We just booked our 1st Disney cruise a couple of days ago and will be sailing with you guys on the 17th.

I only have 2 weeks to research and plan:eek: I feel so far behind.

The trip with consist of myself, my mother, and my 2 kids-Isabelle age 6 princess: and Danny age 4 pirate: We will be leaving my husband and 1 1/2 year old at home for this trip. Hoping to go with them in 2011 when my youngest turns 3.

We are flying in from California and my kids are so excited about this trip. We had originally planned to go to Hawaii and just changed our plans this week. So I am scrambling to learn about the ports, ship, and how to make magnets.

My kids are very outgoing and love playing with other kids, so I don't know if I will see them this whole cruise. I don't think they will want to leave the club.

If anyone has any tips or advice for me for this last minute trip I would love it. Also, if anyone has similar aged kids, I would love to hear from you.

Hope to meet some of you on board.

Hi Kristi!
Welcome to our group! We are also from Northern California (near Sacramento) and are flying into MCO on Friday the 16th. My DD will be 6 in Jan and my DS will be 4 in March, so pretty close in ages to yours!
We are so excited and can't wait to see what awaits us on the boat. I've been planning for over a year, but it really all comes down to these last 2 weeks anyway.
Our plans are:
Key West Day - take the trolley or walk around on our own
Grand Cayman - Pirate Encounter - looks like a fun little excursion and not too pricey.
Cozumel - not sure yet. Either find a good beach or spend much of the time back on the boat enjoying the pools, etc.

Have fun getting ready and we'll see you in 2 weeks! Note, our group is meeting the first day at the Promenade lounge at 3pm..would love to see you there!

Has anyone booked any spa treatments yet? I booked DH a massage today for the first morning, before we get to key west. Is there something he might be missing with an 8am massage (other than sleep or food)?
Laura

I booked a massage for my husband for Key West morning too. I don't think I'm going to book anything for me...

Kim

Hi to those of you who have recently joined our group!

My travel group will be me, my DH, my DD8 and DS5. We'll be easy to spot...our 5 yr old son is bald due to alopecia.

This is our first cruise and we are so excited! Some neighbors just returned from their 7 night western last week. She said it was incredible!

I feel like I have SO much to do to get ready to leave...

Kim,

Wow, we are both from outside of Sacramento and have similar aged kids, how fun. We will be flying to MCO on Southwest. Leaving Sacramento at 11am, flying thru Vegas and then arriving into MCO at 8:30pm. Wouldn't that be funny if we were on the same flights.

I will definitely meet up with everyone at 3pm.

Do you guys know what is the earliest time we can board the ship on the 17th?

Kristi

Please forgive my ignorance here, but if you want a upgrade, why wait for the port if you are willing to pay for it? I don't get it. Please do not take it the wrong way, I am just trying to figure out why wait for the port.

Port upgrades are notably cheaper than upgrading in advance.

Thanks April... But honestly Alan, we are happy with our room and knew the risks of booking a high catagory room with a GTY status. But there is still that slight little rush of trying to see what is possible. I am a rotten gambler truely and never go to the casinos or vegas, so this is my little bit of a thrill with gambling.
