October 15, 2005 anyone?

We are also signed up for second dinner seating. Just the two of us, me, Nancy (49) and DH Chuck (48). I don't think I ever waited until 8:30 to eat dinner. This will be something new for us. I just have to remember not to eat anything too spicy or I'll be having nightmares all night...LOL!!!

I'm still nutsed up about the passport thing!!! I have to either spend $170.00 for two passports or $36.00 to order two certified BC's. The one thing I'm worried about is that "they" (whoever "they" are) will change the rules one week before we sail and tell us all that we can't sail unless we have passports and that BC's aren't allowed anymore. Call me crazy...but I worry about stuff like that. Then it's a mad dash to get a passport in Zero time.

Also, do we take our passports/bc's everywhere with us? Even on the beach? Where do you put all your "stuff" when you are snorkeling and swimming? Just throw it in a bag and leave it unattended on the beach somewhere? Sorry, but I came from a rough neighborhood awhile back and worked at a place where everything was stolen unless you had it glued down to your desk. Also, is it smart to bring an extra BC along just in case you lose it? What happens then? It's had to happen already to someone.

Does anyone know where you can get a waterproof id holder?

Can you tell, it's our first cruise??
Thanks everyone...I'm sure I'll have a ton more questions!!

Nancy :earboy2:

I knew I had another question...

I purchased some luggage locks from QVC last week that are TSA approved. We plan on using these from the airport in Milwaukee to Orlando. (I guess TSA has master keys to all these locks...there are only 5 different keys). We will be picking up our luggage at baggage claim and taking them to our hotel at the airport for one night. My question now is, after we place our "DisneyCruise" tags on our luggage, can we leave those locks on? Do the people that handle our luggage for DCL need to search them too? Will they also have the 5 master keys to open our luggage if they need to? Do you think we would be better off using the plastic ties that some people are using now?

Any responses are greatly appreciated!!

Hey all
some additional details requested in an earlier post -

d'Isigny Glendale AZ Kevin - Nancy DW - Karin DD (11) - Kelsey DD (8) - Kristen DD (5)
- first seating....rooms 1066 & 1068.

I've added my bride (celebrating our 20th) and names of my DD's...my oldest is hoping to find a pen pal to finally meet at the parks or ship - anyone have a DD/DS that would want to write my - blessing?

Hey Paul...thx for taking the time to organize this list. yahoo groups sounds great - let me know if you need a hand with this.

Hey Nancy...RE: passports vs certified birth certificates...someone on an earlier post prob had the best suggestion...unless you are planning on traveling overseas...save the difference for - 'adult beverages with little paper umbrellas' (the last is my little adder). I find it highly unlikely that TSA would require cruisers to obtain passports.
Good luck in what ever you decide. As far as safety for your documents...you can always place them in your stateroom safe. I always made a reduced size of our birth certificates for nancy and I. We always keep this copy on our person (wallet/purse/fanny pack). I anticipate we will never need them - or have a problem...just a suggestion learned on these boards - gives a cronic worrier 'peace of mind'.

Jen - sorry to hear the flu has hit your and yours....take good care.

Wayne - unless your offered a verandah or suite...don't let your SPR go - awesome rooms and perfect location (we had 5522 and 5524 - friends mother had 5520).

Blessings to all........kevin

Hi Kevin
We were in 5020 last Oct. Think these are the best value rooms onboard. Year before they upgraded us to a verandah room, we used the verandah twice while going into ports definitely not worth paying extra for but won't object if they want to give us another. :teeth:

The only thing you need with you is your Picture ID and your key to the world card to get on and off the ship. You can purchase waterproof carriers on the ship in the gift shop. :flower:
Or this Summer you may be able to find something at Wal-Mart. They will be putting out all their summer beach stuff soon and they may have something like that available. :)
I would not worry about the rules changing!! You will be fine with a BC. Not sure about the lock thing??? We never lock our bags because at the airport it says not too??? We have never had a problem. I just keep things of value in my carry on??

We had 5020 last year and we loved the SPR! We are in 5520 this year and the location is perfect!! Love it!

Tomorrow night I am going to go try on some of those formal markdown dresses at JC Penney...I will let you know if I buy one!!

Happy planning ya'll...

Michelle

We usually fly Southwest and we have always locked our luggage - they have a universal key that allows them to unlock those little padlocks that come with your luggage, so I've never understood why people feel the need to go out and buy different locks. I guess everyone hears different things and acts accordingly.

In the past four years we have only had the airline open our locked luggage one time - and that was on our way to Vegas one morning. When we got to our aunt's home there was a piece of paper inside telling us that they had selected our bags for "search and destroy." That's the only time it's ever happened.

We checked three good sized bags this fall at Southwest flying to Florida and locked them all before we left the house. No problems. We also locked our bags before we left the hotel on the way to the port. No problems. We locked our bags before setting them outside our cabin for pick-up on the night before we docked. No problems.

I, for one, am too suspicious to leave my luggage unlocked even though we keep our valuables in a carry-on. If the airlines feel like they need to wade through our "unmentionables" more power to them, but they can unlock the luggage on their own if it means that much to them. And they will! :)

Paul - you are the man!

I can't join the group at work - internet patrol thinks it may be a baaaaad thing and has denied me access. :teeth:

I will definitely be signing up tonight when I get home.

Thanks for pulling this together for us! :goodvibes

:cool1: I went in and Joined the Yahoo group. You can even upload a photo to the group. So I added a photo of Josie and I from our Disney cruise on the Wonder in 2002. This will be fun! DD has grown so I need to add a current photo too. :teeth:

Thanks for creating this for us! :goodvibes

Thanks alot paul for setting up the yahoo group! Brenda is right. You are the man! :)

Wayne, as far as the late night parties. You & your DW will be the first to know. :Pinkbounc :cool1: We will be in sp 5020 & from what I here it seems we'll love it! Last October we took our 3 kids so we were in a cat. 4. I would love to have an upgrade to a cat 8 or above. A verandah room would be great. I mostly used the verandah for drying swimsuits, although a couple times I was afraid they would blow off & be lost @ sea. :scared1: :sad2: Does anyone know if they give you the option of the upgrade or do they just automatically give it to you? I rather have my sp room than a cat. 9.

Kevin, thanks so much for the "get well." W'ere doing a lot better w/ the powers of prayer & modern medicine. :)

Nancy, I'm with you on the late dinner thing, We usually eat around 5pm here at home & when we cruised last October we had early seating which worked out great for us & the kids. My ds 4 (then 3) even fell asleep @ the table a couple times. We chose 2nd seating this time, because w/ 1st seating it does seem like your in a little bit of a hurry & this time my DH & I just want to relax, take it slow, & enjoy everything.
:earsgirl: + :earsboy: + :sunny: = :cloud9: (corny, I know)
About the BC's? I did exactly what michelle did & locked them immediately in our room safe. You don't need them at all just your KTTW card & photo ID. Like michelle said too, you can get the waterproof id holders that go around your neck @ walmart, on the ship or you can even order them off of this board. They are called water wallets. Here's the link.

When we were upgraded to cat 6 Disney left a message on our answer phone to inform us. I suppose if I had have been in to answer the call I could have refused it but I was more than happy in a cat 6.

:earseek: WOW!!!!!
I've been away from the boards for way tooooo long...
Page 12!, A Yahoo Group!, What a group!!!

Paul, thanks for the Yahoo database - I just joined.

As far as, the dinner seating time goes, Dylan & I chose late seating because we are both night people and we figured the possiblity to sit with older kids would be greater, we figured the families with younger children would want 1st seating - are we wrong?

I just booked our flights and like others, I didn't want my son to miss too much of school. But prices out of Lincoln, NE (only a 30 minute drive from us), were going up and close to $500 the last time I checked. So I opted to fly out of Kansas City (3 1/2 hour drive), but Dylan will only need to miss Friday afternoon and we got them for under $200. We will arrive in Orlando at 11:30 Friay night, so my question is "Where should we stay?" We both would like to stay at the Hyatt, but the price is still a little too high. Do they ever have specials? And for transportation to the port, we figured to use the bus.

Well, I had better get back to work and pray that my little car will be able to make it home through the snow :cold:.

Almost forgot... Walmart has sunscreen on clearance for $1.00 (kids & adults)! :sunny:

Just joined your yahoo group and added our pic :love2: - its not from the cruise but a wedding last summer - best pic of us that I could find

I just added our photo(s) on the Yahoo site. I added our darling Disney kid's too, even though we will be sailing this October sans kids. I just had to share them. I'm missing them already!!! :)

~Jen :flower:

Just joined the yahoo group and posted a pic of the DH and me - yep, the sun is still pretty darn strong in Mexico even in October.

I loved looking at all the other photos - we are a handsome group, aren't we? :teeth:

I'll also add my thanks to Paul for setting up the group...That was a great idea. I added a picture of my three kids (Scott, Alex, & Abby) to the photo section. It's hard to find pictures of me, as I try to always stay on the viewfinder side of the camera. The way I figure it, that qualifies as a public service on my part. :scared1: :teeth:

...my oldest is hoping to find a pen pal to finally meet at the parks or ship - anyone have a DD/DS that would want to write my - blessing?
Kevin,

If your DD doesn't mind corresponding with the opposite gender, my oldest son (who is currently 11, but will turn 12 soon) might be interested in an email pen pal. (I had planned to float this same question to this group eventually as I thought it would be nice for him to cyber-meet someone before the cruise.) Why don't you send me a PM, or you can go to the Yahoo group that Paul set up and get my email address off the member list there and just email me directly.
