May I recomend Life of Pi. I loved that book, and I think it would be a great read, even though its about a boat wreck....

The Plot Against America was the other book I read on the cruise last year, but mostly in the airport waiting for the flight out. I didn't think that it was that great, certainly not worth the hype I had heard about it.

I should qualify that I didn't technically read Plot Against America, I listened to it on tape (long commute). I've found that a good reader for a book on tape can make an average book seem much better than it actually is. Hence, I enjoyed Plot Against America but most folks I know who have actually read it didn't find it nearly as enjoyable as I did.

I must be the exception, then. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It was terribly depressing - very dark tone - but I found the focus on the one family's experience of early Nazi party racism in the United States absolutely fascinating. Perhaps because I was finishing a lot of Holocaust / WWII research when I read it, but I thought it was very well done.

I had Kite Runner in my hand this morning but thought it sounded a bit more...well, to quote you to you "disturbing" than I wanted for vacation. Not that the book I ended up with probably won't be disturbing, too...guess that wasn't very smart on my part.

it took us about an hour last year to get from WDW to Port Canaveral. We left about 9:30 in the morning and were waiting in line to get into the terminal before it opened at 10:30.

Yes are taking the Disney Transfer from the Hyatt on Saturday morning. Only problem is that WE will the first one's on the bus!!

I think it's about 45-60 minute drive. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As for reading material, I will be reading The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. I like suspense and mystery books, so The Devil in the White City sounds really good, as I loved Issac's Storm.

I can't wait till the Magic shows back up on the Port webcam

Does anyone have any opinion if the onboard DVC get together is worth attending?

I would love to buy more but we already have 350 per year and with no kids (and none in the foreseeable future) we figure we're covered. Now, if I could convince Jason to transfer to Deerfield or Jacksonville...well more points would be in order because we'd be so much closer to the Mouse!
