October 15, 2005 anyone?

Greetings from a sunny and HUMID - Kissimmee, Florida. Thanks to all for the ‘safe travel’ wishes – appreciate it/all of you. Yesterday was a really-really long day – connecting flight and a huge line to check in at the time share…just wore us out.

We spent today at Animal Kingdom. This park had what I would consider moderate attendance…lines for attractions weren’t too bad but the shows were a little crowded. We are just taking a short break before ending the day at Epcot - with Illuminations. We are just counting tonight’s visit as a ‘scouting trip’…looking forward to a full day of ‘boozing and grubbing’ around the world…hee hee hee.

If I had some advice for those planning some time at the parks…plan on humid weather.

For those traveling soon…be safe…look forward in seeing all on the ship.

Take good care of you and yours, K

Glad you all made it safely and thanks for the humidity alert! We fly in Thursday morning so I'll be sure not to spend any time on my hair! :teeth:

I love Illuminations - you will have such a great time. And I am already vicariously experiencing your boozin' and grubbin' trip around the world...enjoy!

FYI - we lost a tooth for tag...Brian (Pfuzz...I think)...so we're down to 18 right now barring any other extractions!

Have fun!

Just checked on my DCL res .... and I got a dinner upgrade! When we made our res, the early (6 PM) wasn't available, so we took the late and requested the early if available. Well, sometime in the past few days ... we got that change! Now I don't have to worry about the kids falling asleep at the dinner table.

Tomorrow, the packing begins.

Diane,
I can't believe you passed on the club level seating for the Broncos, but I understand you don't want to risk a cold this close to your vacation...even down here in sunny Phoenix we're trying to shake the last of a cold before we leave on Friday. At least they won the game.

We're trying to figure out if we can take an extra day from work just to pack but that probably won't be happening so it'll be a late night Thursday.

Safe travels to all.

Eric :goodvibes

VA_Mouseman,
Just checked the res because of your upgrade and we go it too. Late dinner with a 3 yo would not be pretty. :cool1:

Hey to all…we had an outstanding time at Epcot this evening. Went with the intention to see Illuminations and preview the events for ‘Food and Wine festival’. Well – we left a little too late and just had enough time to see the fire works. Any who - after using valet services a The Boardwalk…we took a boat to Epcot and found a good spot at bridge near the International Gateway. I just love the music and ‘show’ they put on – absolutely fantastic!! I must confess…I did celebrate Oktoberfest at the Germany pavilion – Ahhhhhh BEER…Nan would say – Ahhhhhh Dark Chocolate.

While waiting for valet to get our van…you won’t guess who we saw. Receiving VIP treatment was… Paul Sorvino (current - The Sopranos…past – numerous tv and film appearances) and his daughter Mira, with her husband Chris Backus and child. This was too cool! I wanted to ask for an autograph or take a photo…but – just let this moment pass (hey – if I was in there shoes…I wouldn’t want anyone to ‘bug’ me on vacation…especially at WDW).

Well…it’s late…MGM is planned for tomorrow and I gotta get some sleep… K

Hey d'Isigny!! Guess I'm not the only one up this early/late!!

I can't sleep!! I woke up with a million things on my mind.....like putting everything that is on the Dining Room Table into suitcases!! Almost packed!! :flower:

Too cool about the spotting a celeb!! I too would have just relished the moment, no autographs/picture!! :teeth:

I have been so busy, and not checking in....y'all have been busy posting!!

Quick Question.....Formal night is on Sunday and semi formal is on Thursday, correct?? :confused3

I will also be in the line for Brunch Ressies, what day is everyone going?? I know I read that somewhere but of course I can't remember!!

We are leaving Thursday after school!! I can't believe it is almost here!!
I check the weather everyday.....the islands are showing rain :umbrella: I keep hoping they will put a little sun on their forecast!! :sunny:

See y'all soon!! :grouphug:

Woo Hoo! I'm done packing! (of course its midnight here in Cali...) just the carry on (the night before) - all is well!!
Now if I could just finish that pirate costume.... pirate:

The Astros are putting a serious crimp in my packing, what with that day-long game they played yesterday. Of course, at the end we were so excited and screaming so loudly that we scared the bejeebies out of my son. What an exciting season!!! Brenda, I have to say you guys have been brutal for us this season (and every season), so I think it's going to be very tough to make it past you to the World Series, but we've got momentum...

Back to packing... I have a few questions for you guys.

1) How dressy are you normally for the non-formal/semi-formal dinners? When I pulled my dinner clothes out to pack Saturday night, I thought almost everything I had could work for semi-formal night or close to it - certainly dressier than church clothes if you know what I mean.

2) What do you wear when you're just putzing around the ship (not going to the pool)? Is a plain t-shirt and shorts okay?

3) If I have zero intention of working out or walking any significant distances, is there any reason to pack tennis shoes?

I have at least finished packing DS' suitcase and it is absolutely stuffed to the gills, but fortunately there will be souvenir space in it after we use up all the diapers that are packed. My stuff is close to being ready once I get those questions answered, but it is all just piled on the chair in my bedroom. DH is, of course, nowhere near packed. He doesn't even have a suitcase out yet. I'm telling you - Friday morning around 1:00 a.m. he'll start. He will likely decide that instead of working half a day on Friday, he's just going to take the day off so he can finish.

See you guys so soon!

VA MOUSEMAN,

We are trying to get my friend's dining changed to early!! Congrats on getting yours changed! :cool1: When I saw your thread I went out to Disney.com,but her's still says late!! :confused3 Hopefully it will be changed this week so we don't have to mess with it on the ship! We are dragging the 2 year old with us to the dining manager and begging!! She is linked to my ressie and the TA requested the same table...So hopefully it will be changed this weeK! :teeth:

I am all ready to go..Just have to put the formal wear in my suitcase on Thursday night! :sunny: I can't believe we leave in 4 days!!

Guess what we got last night---SNOW--- I just woke up and got the kids up. We will have to leave early to school due to the traffic and weather. Forecast up to 4-6 inches in certain places. WOW- looking forward to our cruise and hopefully the weather will cooperate and we won't have any rain :umbrella: I packed one just in case. :cat:

Paige, I chose a cocktail dress for semi-formal night and a gown for formal night, but the other nights you should be fine with resort casual. I even read that some will wear jeans... During the day I think you'll be fine with shorts and a t-shirt - Hey it's vacation!!! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Got to make breakfast and need to scrap the car off--SNOW you know :earseek:

Evie

Man Evie,

You will be ready for for sun!! :sunny: SNOW!!! :cold: Not ready for that yet!

I just checked Accuweather and our sail a way day in Cape Canaveral looks good! :sunny: and 85!! There is a tropical wave hanging out around the Easter Carribean right now that could develop into something?? :confused3 So they are getting lots of rain, but by next week it should be gone!! Accuweather shows 85 and partly Sunny for Philippsburg St.Martin for next Tuesday and Wednesday!! :sunny: :sunny: :wizard: I hope it works out! I want to enjoy the days in port! :cloud9:

Looks like Vince is going away from the US....

Paige,

That was one heck of a game yesterday. Secretly I was pulling for the Braves because i thought they'd be an easier opponent, but the truth is at this time of year it's about consistancy, timing, and a little good luck! Jason and I knew that we'd probably end up with the 'Stros again. Should be a fun series!!

As to your questions...

1) I wear a dress each night to dinner because I love to dress up for stuff like this. They aren't the long gowns for formal nights but are more like cocktail and dressier sundresses (think Ann Taylor). That's just me - I saw all kinds of variations last year...so just be comfy.

2) If we're not going someplace specific that requires us to look presentable Jason and I are usually wearing our swimsuits underneath a t-shirt / pair of shorts. We keep it very casual and so did most of the others I saw last year.

3) If you're not going to use them, why bring them? I have to because we're going to Islands of Adventure on Friday, but otherwise I'd leave mine at home.

Good luck packing...I've gotta get moving on ours today. See ya Saturday - we'll be the ones at the bar watching baseball! :teeth:

Brenda

PS - GO CARDS!! :cheer2:

Hi Everyone...at least who has not started their vacation yet!! :flower:
Finvicmom....I was thinking about you when I took my kids to school today, they said there were freeways shut down due to the snow, I was praying it wasn't the one to the airport for you!! It is just pouring rain in KY!! :umbrella:
Is formal night Sunday and Semi Formal Thursday?? I'm just trying to figure out when to reserve another Palo night, since we have 2 rooms we should be able to reserve 2 nights of Palo, which will be so nice since we never get a chance to go out to eat just with us!! ;)

Thank you :Pinkbounc

Yes, formal night is Sunday and Semi-Formal is Thursday. I believe Thursday night is also "lobster night" if you're a fan of them ( personally I'd rather substitute with crab!).

PS - I love vacation before the real vacation! Oh yeah, GO CARDS!! :cheer2:

Hey Evie, you beat me to the punch...I thought I'd be the first to tell everyone about all the snow. Down here in HR I think we already have that 6 inches and it's still comming down. My girls have an hour school delay. Boy it sure makes heading to the caribbean seem so much sweeter!!! Hopefully the snow will be all gone by Friday and won't delay our flight any!!!OF course this is Colorado...We'll probably need our shorts and T-shirts by Friday. See you at the airport! Diane.
