I just returned from Walmart and picked up a bunch of items for our trip. I started several piles in our room and will sort out once the kids start packing. We are trying to firm up our excursion requests with the rest of our group -- Dolphin Encounter for Victoria, Regatta for DH and son, sightseeing for me in St. Maarten (guavaberry --- here I come, I problably will pick up the bbq sauce too... while in St. Thomas, we will be joing Michelle with a bunch of our group taking the St. John Trunk Bay tour --yipee

WELCOME to the newbies --- Hitomi, we lived in Japan for about a year back in 1990 in Yokusuka when DH was stationed on the Naval Base. I remember the long airflight with Victoria alone when we had to return to the U.S.

Anyone here know anything about Guavaberry and where you can buy it and what it tastes like (work with me here - don't tell me it tastes like a guavaberry ), and what kind of drinks they make with it? Seems like I remember reading something a while back where people were just raving about it.

I'm probably late on this, but there is a shop on St. Martin that has it, and they make a few different things. The most popular being a Guavaberry Colada. Can I just say YUM? We make them at home occasionally because we like them so much!

We've been working on our bottle over the year so that we had an excuse to buy more on this cruise!

The strangest thing too is that you can actually buy a Guavaberry Colada and drink it while walking down the street. A Far cry from the "Open Container" laws here!

If they have a tasting of it at the Guavaberry place, don't miss the 'ANIS.' It is quite yummy. Kind of lke Sambuca, but smoother. I love it straight every once in a while.

I'm not crazy about licorice so I'll probably pass on that one. Have you tried any of the others? I thought I saw a passion-fruit one listed on the company's web site...that sounds pretty darn good right about now.
