October 15, 2005 anyone?

Paige...so happy that you didn't have a lot of damage to deal with. Maybe all that Pixie Dust :wizard: worked!

I've been working so hard at work so that I don't have to for the next couple weeks. I won't be worth a darn after this week anyway. :teeth:

We are almost completely packed but I had that dream whereas we leave our garment bag behind. I had that same dream twice!! :confused3

Is hurricane season over yet? I don't see anything brewing in the Atlantic right now. Stay away!!!!! :guilty:

Well, since I STILL don't have my docs, I've run out of things to say. Maybe once I get those, I'll have some questions about them.

Later Friends,
:sunny:

Hey Kathy, that's pretty much what Jason and I did last year before our Western cruise - it was great! For all you people heading to the House of Mouse...if you get a chance get over to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot...it's so yummy!!

Ohhh! I have lots of questions about the Food and Wine Festival!

1. How does it work? Is it a seperate section of Epcot, or just at the pavillions?

2. Do they have tastings? Can you actually buy wines? Of course, no one in the world can top Virginia wines but I do like to see who can come close!

This is one event I've been looking forward to. As I've read, there are booths from many countries set up around the World Showcase. You browse from booth to booth, eating appetizer sized morsels of national cuisine for $3 to $4 each, sip local wine or beer for about the same, and just totally enjoy the ambience of Epcot. Some have mentioned - 'eat and drink around the world'. Just gets me more and more excited...

Let me warn you...eating and drinking around the world sounds great until you see what a big crowd there is...strollers do not work well! have fun but don't say i didn't warn ya! :flower:

i have got to sit down and get all my goodie bags organized...both for the DIStag and for my own kids! I still have to try on clothes for pirate night...i have plans to do that later today...i also need to start putting together ribbons to make matchng bows for all my little girl's outfits... :cheer2:

Ahhhh...listen closely my cruising cryber-friends to the sage advice of the Food and Wine Festival Junkie... :teeth:

Jason and I refer to it as "Boozin' and Grubbin' our way around the World." We pretty much eat our way from one side of the world showcase to the next. We always go early in the afternoon - crowds are much smaller than they are at night, especially those nights that MNSSHP is going on (where else is everyone going to go?). One of the primary reasons we usually go to WDW in October is to go to Food and Wine Festival - we're there at some point every day of our trip!

There are more than twenty different food booths set up around the world showcase - some match the countries in EPCOT but there are others as well - we were very fond of Ireland, South Africa, and Australia. Each booth will have four or five food samples ranging in price from $3-$5, The portions are big enough to share. Each booth will also have regional wines and / or beers available for purchase, too. Good stuff!

Bring some cash - you can charge your samples if you like, but it can add up fast and for something like this I'd rather pay cash out of pocket. I adore the champagne stand they set up in France - I love strolling around the park with a champagne flute! There is also usually a booth or two that sells beer from around the wrold, but there's rarely anything there you couldn't buy at your local grocery store (too bad).

There are a ton of seminars, classes, and special dinners too, but you have to reserve them in advance (they usually start taking ressies late in July) and they can be pricey.

It does get crowded at night - the strollers are a menace - so try to get over there in the afternoon to really be able to enjoy the experience.

I'm so envious...we won't be Boozin' and Grubbin again until next October... :guilty:

Have fun, eat well, and don't drink so much that you miss the boat on Saturday!

PS - speaking of wines...Kathy if you like wine...try Goats do Roam in South Africa. This was pretty tasty. They also offer a red that's good but I'm more of a white wine person... bring on the Pinot Grigio, baby!

I woke up this morning and while viewing my hectic schedule, I came to the realization of the fear of a Molar Express member... Cleaning/Checkup day... dun dun dun......

Here's a WDW food review I did last year after the first part of our trip. It includes a food and wine festival review of everything we actually ate on one trip over to Epcot (I'm telling you, we're pigs). It might give you a better idea of what to expect when you get there, and it's an entertaining read (I think).

Paul...my sympathies on the dental visit. If it were me I'd wait until after the cruise. But then again, procrastination is my other middle name. :teeth:

Good luck!

I'd forgotten... but last year after our Western cruise I posted a series of trip reports. I'll go ahead and paste the threads here if anyone wants to take a read (no pictures...I'm not that smart). I love reading other people's trip reports and I found them really helpful last year before we went on our trip. For those of you who have never sailed on the Magic or have never sailed Disney this might give you some additional information. I'm happy to answer any questions my vacation ramblings may leave you with. :goodvibes

You guys are scaring me on a thousand fronts...

Yesterday I received in the mail a postcard reminding me of my upcoming dentist appointment scheduled for ... October 13th!!! :scared1:

Then today I read about how so many of you are packed. Our house is in total disarray still from the evacuation and I still haven't unpacked from that trip. I don't even have the slightest idea what I'm going to pack. :scared: And my in-laws are petsitting/housesitting for us while we're on the cruise, so my house has to be spotless before they get here.

Panic is setting in. My assistant at work is on vacation until a week from tomorrow so work is unbelievable. Yikes!!!!! I need a vacation, but don't want to have to do all the stuff necessary to get read for a vacation.

Brenda,

Thanks for the links, but I couldn't get passed the "watched the Cardinals squash the Astros" line. Bad, bad memories...

Sorry Paige. I was still feeling the World Series bitterness when I posted that and I had to do something to bring back happy baseball memories - too bad it was the NLCS.

You guys will get another chance this year...that's gotta help a little. :teeth:

Brenda, It was fun reading your trip report(s). :teeth: It brought back memories since we were on the magic on 10/23, too.

Come to think of it...I do remember seeing two wild, crazy people that resemble you guy's from the pictures on the Yahoo website. I remember commenting to my Dh about it. :rotfl: :goodvibes (j/k) Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well. I hope this time around is much, much better. :sunny:

Paige, I'm glad to hear your home is ok, and not too much damage. I hope things settle down for you. :)

Woo Hoo, Congrats Michelle! I am so happy for you. and I am glad that your day is MAGICal! :cheer2: :wizard:

Hey Brenda - loved your trip reports. Thank you for taking the time to write and posting the link to these.

I absolutely love trip reports. We learn so much from others experiences; things to try...avoid and tips that help us plan (OK, they help me get through my Disney addiction – please sign me up for some 12 step program). I really-really wish our ‘gracious hosts (The DIS)’ would alter the current forum for trip reports – so they can be reviewed as a complete report. I understand you can search...etc – yes, it’s me...either my attention span is too short...or my hypertension kicks in and I just ‘give up’. Am not sure if the ‘x-number of words’ limit on each post inhibit people from writing them...or...they get broken up making it difficult to find so we can read them in ‘chronological order’. I really wish they could change this.

I hate to share another’s web site...but, you are all family...try looking at some through Mouse Planet. Check out the below link for Disney Cruise trip reports.

http://www.mouseplanet.com/dtp/trip.rpt/index_files/tr_cruise.htm

And...if you can put up with my ‘horrific writing style’...you can read about a trip nan and I took on the Wonder.

http://www.mouseplanet.com/dtp/trip.rpt/report_files/cruise/smith02ap.htm

Have a great one...me - I need to get back to work...this trip has made me 'totally lose focus'...my body is here - but my mind is Is in the Caribbean - holding a 'boat drink' and singing 'Jolly Mon'.

just a quick note for those of you that are scrapbookers. Not only do they sell scrapbook supplies on board the ship, there is also a storefront in downtown disney. I can't remember exactly what it is called...I believe it was at the far end of downtown disney close to downtown disney hotels, and it was a store just for photo supplies, scrapbooks, frames, photo albums etc. It was pretty decent when I visited two years ago, and probably is a lot more detailed now. I plan to visit after the cruise. There is also supposedly a complete disney scrapbook store somewhere in Orlando that carries everything disney. I discovered it from a scrapbooking website called www.mousememories.com.

Paul...I hope you weren't laughing at the rest of us when we hopped on the Molar Express. If so, "what goes around, comes around". If not, "my best to you". :rotfl:
