October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

I saw the promos for Fat March ~ looks brutal!!! Will definitely watch and look for you. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and I, too, am glad to hear my fellow MN Cruisapaloozans are okay. DH's family lives in Minneapolis and we were there just last weekend. Fortunately no one in his family commutes that way.

Random babbling now...DH thinks I'm nuts for thinking about what to pack 2 months ahead. After reading the main board and Shirley's (from the Perfect Gift) thread re: Helpful Tips, there's a lot to pack!
Also looking on eBay for Pirate t-shirts for DH. I'm frugal so don't want to spend a lot on a shirt.

Ok, babbling over.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Hello there APOOHFN,

My wife has been begging me to bring out the luggage to allow her to start packing this weekend as we so let you DH know he is not alone! :confused3

Our cats get freaked out when they see the luggage come out so we are going to try not to get them going too early. I will admit that we are spending a week in Disney prior to the cruise so she is one week sooner than you ;)

Regs,

CJM

Hi CJM ~

That's hilarious! I knew I wasn't the only one wanting to get ready NOW ;) ;)
I only have one child who is 3 so luckily there won't be too much packing.

Lucky you guys for spending a week in Disney first! We're arriving 2 days prior so we'll hit WDW on the 12th.

Then it'll be Animal Kingdom on the 20th when we disembark...and a quick visit to Epcot on the 21st (our flight is at 4:50pm that day).

Is that crazy??:confused3 :confused3

Hi APOOHFN,

Not crazy at all, we squeeze every Disney moment out that we can too!

I hate to make things worse, but we have a week after the cruise booked at AKV too. :rolleyes1

Regs,

Chad J.

WOW!!! 3 weeks of vacay - that's awesome!!:thumbsup2 I'm jealous!!

Did you get your Magic Your Way tickets yet? I'm going to the Disney Store today to buy the 3 day option. Since ticket prices went up yesterday, I heard the stores will sell the passes at the old price until Wednesday.

Chad ~ I just noticed your siggie pic and how cool you & your DW got married on the DCL???

Never been to Orlando so very excited about the pre & post cruise visits, too. Of course, I've been to Disneyland a billion times ;) (but not recently).

Hi again,

Well we bought Premium Annual Passes as we will be going for a total of 4 weeks on land and two Disney cruises within the year. I bought mine in June and she rushed online Saturday and bought hers. It's only $25-30 savings but it's worth it if you were going to buy them in a few months anyway.

As you can see from my sig, we've been to DisneyWorld many times but my Disneyland experience has been kept to 1/2 day and my wife has never been. We are trying to get a Disneyland / Las Vegas trip together at some point. The flights to LA/LAS are cheaper than MCO, go figure! With DVC we can use our points for the Disneyland hotels so that takes some of the sting out of it.

Yes, we were married on the Magic in September last year. This one is a sort of 'Anniversary/Honeymoon' trip as you get married on Thursday and off Saturday so it didn't give us much time to enjoy things as much as we would have liked. We were also playing host and hostess.

You will love Orlando! We were just speaking about the airport arrival yesterday and how we are both so giddy when we get to that airport. I bet you I know that airport better than any other lol. We are flying Air Canada through Montreal again, it's a great connection. Are you taking a red eye?

PS - this is the first time either of us have taken 3 weeks at once!

Regs,

Chad J.

Happy 1 month early Anniversary! And yes, 2 days on the boat after getting married is definitely not enough time!

Did you get Palo rezzies?

We'll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary :yay: :yay:

I'm annoyed with Frontier Airlines because they totally changed their flight times and didn't even email me w/the time change. We were supposed to arrive at MCO around 4:20pm on the 11th (our actually anniverary). I thought we could at least have a nice dinner. We now arrive at 10:50pm. so we're basically spending our anniversary on an airplane - oh well!:sad2:
I can't do redeyes - they kill me (haha!). Of course, if the price is right...

I heard WDW is a lot bigger than Disneyland but I bet you guys will love it. Vegas is my fave, too! Haven't been there though since my DS was born.

APOOHFN, If you go to the Disney Store check out the sales. I bought some pirate stuff there, including 2 t-shirts for DH at more than 50% off a little bit ago. Also, I don;t know if you have Target stores by you, but they have pirate t-shirts and are a lot cheaper than Disney.

In regards to packing... You don't even want to know what I have started. Let's just say that I need a little therapy. (So my DH say's) ;)

Thanks again everyone for all your concern about Minnesota. :goodvibes

Hi,

Yes Palo ressies all done, Supper, Brunch and High-Tea! :thumbsup2

We are also doing the para sailing at CC and the Atlantis Submarine in St. Thomas.

Maybe Frontier will through a bash for ya! ;)

On another note, we Canadians are also thinking about you in Minnesota! Hope things are beginning to return to normal and everyone here on the boards are safe and sound. The national news here in Canada used the bridge in our city (Halifax) as an example of bridges in Canada that need to be inspected. :sad2:

Regs,

Chad J.

Chad ~ that's awesome you got all 3 Palo stuff!

Jenmack ~ thanks for the tshirt tips! We do have a Target close to my house. I will check it out. Didn't even think to look at pirate stuff there other than the toy stuff.pirate: pirate:

Must be a female-thing w/wanting to pack waaaaay in advance:rotfl: :rotfl:

Thought you might like to know. I had to call Disney Cruise Line this past week-end. Had a couple of things I wanted to get cleared up. While I was talking to a live person:cool1: I thought I would ask about Palo's. I asked the nice lady if they do in fact hold back a block of ressies at Palo's for people to book on the first day they board. She would not confirm nor deny that they do hold back a block to reserve once on board.:confused3 Sooooooo maybe there is a chance for for us after all. I hope they do.
Our days are counting down fast now everyone. :cool1: :yay: Before we know it we'll be walking on to the MAGIC!!!

OK..I had to post to probably the only people who care about my exciting find today (other than my 4yo son!). We went to a children's 2nd hand clothing store, and found my son's ENTIRE pirate get up...we looked all through the girls' section and found some awesome black satiny cargo pants, a white button up shirt with a brown vest attached, and some black boots. We spent about $11 for all of it, and when we throw on the black sash/belt from Grammie, his pirate hat from Target's $1 section, the $3 necklace he found at Goodwill, and a black beard with a make-up it will cost so little!

I also found a dark maroon peasant style shirt for hubby that was $10...

LOVE the girls/women's sections! So yea me...we're all pirat-ed out!

Fat March is coming on now in the Midwest. Look for Michael thats Big Ben on ABC

I wanted to post that I am planning to become more active here after this weekend. I am participating in the Chicago Distance Classic half marathon with some other DISers and after that it's planning for October!

Good luck at the race! My 4yo son and I do lots of 1 Mile Fun Runs, so I can't even fathom more than that :) Have fun!!!

...and I'm a Cruisapaloozaholic :)

DH is making fun of me ~ he says I've spent more time on planning this cruise than the time we're going to BE ON the cruise:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I told him he'll thank me later!

Heather ~ that is awesome re: your DS's pirate gear! No such luck on my end yet ~ Target & Disney Store didn't have anything I wanted. Will try Goodwill/Salvation Army/flea markets next.

Already started packing my first aid kit :rolleyes1

Read a great idea on one of the threads here: Instead of bringing a pillowcase to have the characters sign (which I wasn't planning on), lots of folks are bringing the mat part of a photo frame and having the characters sign that. This way, you can frame a pic from your trip surrounded by autographs. I'm going to do that.

That's all the random babbling I can think of for now.

Have a great day everyone and can't believe only 66 more days! :yay: :yay:

We did that last year, and it turned out great. My wife got a photo mat from JoAnnes (I think) that was meant to be signed - it was in the wedding section. We got a pack of multi-colored sharpies and all the characters signed it in all the different colors. We put in a family pic from formal night in the frame. I'll try to find and post a picture of it.

We were talking about it the other day, if we wanted to do that again. I was thinking we need to do something similar but different. But I haven't come up with anything yet.

Jason.

Edit: I found a picture of it. Its actually a picture of something else, but the frame was in the background. It at least gives you the idea:

Jason ~ that pic looks great!!! Thanks for sharing. I will definitely be bringing a mat!

As far as for you, what about bringing pre-shrunk cotten white t-shirts for your kids and having the characters autograph them? or a cool Disney poster you can hang on your wall after its signed?
