October 13, 2013 4 Night Cruise!!!!

Taking my brother on his first cruise to celebrate our bdays! Can't wait!:cheer2:

:welcome: - how awesome to sail on your birthday. I keep thinking someday for mine. We have sailed on our anniversary as well as DH's birthday but not mine - yet anyway.

We don't have a room assigned yet....have GTY class 5E, deluxe oceanview verandah room. As we are cruise newbies, I was wondering if the odds for pixie dust are better when there seems to be more unbooked rooms?

We have done GTY twice, both inside GTY. One time we were upgraded to cat 6 verandah, second time we got an inside stateroom. Bottom line is don't book it unless you will be happy with the minimum.

Hi~
i added our name to the FE list but could not figure out how to add our cabin # to the roll call list. My son and I will be in cabin 5542. Cant wait to meet everyone. Looking forward to participating in the FE. We did one last year while on the Wonder to Alaska and it was so much fum. thanks Jeff for setting this one up.

Mary-Ellen

Mary-Ellen, I'll take care of adding you to the Roll Call when I get back into town. The wife and I drove to Arkansas to visit my mother and spend a few days with her mother. Also, for everyone, if you have a photo you would like to share on the Roll Call, email it to me and I'll upload it beside your information.

Love it, its so cute...

Hopefully my gifts will fit in a carry on, we are driving down (9 hours) since our last trip flight down to Orlando ( 1 1/2 flight time) turned into a 23 hour ordeal. I always pack a extra suitcase inside my carry-on luggage.

Thank you!!

Did that during our last WDW trip in 2008. That saved so many problems!!

In 2003 we had to buy luggage at AKL...oops.

We had one of those crazy flight ordeals -stayed at Philly airport hotel for a 6 am flight, got up at 4 am - first class flight to CA - flight cancelled. We got rebooked and had to change over and lost first class...lucky we got a flight!

Person who rebooked us was typing with one finger and looked totally confused...they messed us up so bad ... another airline had to fix the problem. By the time we landed I had gotten a cold and spent the whole trip in misery.

I really do appreciate all the work. Enjoy Arkansas.

Does any know what they might be doing in each port?

We are going to check out the adult area of Castaway Cay. We've never been to Nassau but will be looking at what DCL offers as well as what we can do privately. 90% of the time, I book non-DCL tours based on cruiser reviews (DISboards), cruise critic) and other sources like Tripadvisor. If you've heard of things that are good to do (or not good) please share. I typically post what I find on the cruise web site.

Roll Call is updated with all information posted in the forums. :thumbsup2

Susan and I are going to the Dominican Republic Thursday for a week on a church mission trip. This will be our second year in the Dominican Republic. Below is a link to the blog I kept on last year's trip if anyone is interested.

Btw...details for the roll call: from southern NJ near Philadelphia, stateroom 7582 dining second

I have a post on cruise critic for this trip. My hubby is looking into excursions too. We want to book a cabana in the adults area but I read they sell out as soon as platinum cruisers can book them. This is only our second dcl cruise...the first being a 2 nighter out of NYC. We heard crime is pretty bad in Nassau I hope it is better then I read.

HI

Just booked this Cruise as a B2B to the October 10th Sailing where me and DF will be getting married on Castaway Cay on the 12th. This will be part 1 of our Honeymoon and technically my second Cruise (the first being the wedding cruise right before it)

I would love to participate in the FE exchange but unfortunately will have no space in my luggage packing for a wedding, 2 cruises and a 4 day stay at WDW after... maybe next time.

10/12 is a GREAT wedding day...we should know! We are celebrating our 10th anniversary! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

We have been to Nassau before and I think that I will treat this like another sea day (yes, I do have a vivid imagination). Hopefully I will be able to ride the Aquaduck a few times while everyone else is off doing their thing. We just beach it at CC - and very probably the family beach, we will decide that once we get off and see how busy the family beach is.

Dominican Republic - what an awesome thing. I will keep 'tabs' on you through your blog.

The next time you log into the cruise website - DH = David, we have late dining and we are in 9517. We will most likely do FE's but I think the document will allow me to edit it so I should be able to handle that.

I think that Cruise Critic is an awesome research tool and so wish that the DIS would add a destinations folder but I guess that is just not in the stars.

Nothing else to report from here. DH is semi retired and works at Boy Scout Camp in the summertime and he leaves a week from today so it will be a week of getting ready on his part - well, no, he won't start that until the weekend so I guess he needs some pushing from my side. Then it will be a quiet summer as he won't be home except an occasional weekend until early August.

Have a good day!

Roll Call updated. Yes, the FE spreadsheet can be updated by anyone with the link to get to it.

Regarding Nassau, sounds like what I think of Jamaica. Last time we stopped there we stayed on the boat. This was in Montego Bay...been there, been harrassed there, done that.

Big news for us today is that it's our 30th anniversary. We are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate and then will be coming back home to start packing for our DR trip on Thursday.

Well Happy Anniversary! That is an accomplishment (not the right word but close). Our 34th will be in December. Why is it that doesn't make be feel old but that birthday next year (60th) just might. Never has bothered me before but.....

We are on one of the trips on the Fantasy next year that goes to Jamacia. I have not read such hot things about it on Cruise Critic so we shall see I guess. I did take a look at the Nassau excursion that DCL offers and that chocolate tour/making sounds sort of interesting. Not much of anything else peaked my interest though so, as I said, it might be another 'sea day'.

Happy Friday! Long week for me but I made it. And the best part - I upgraded our cabin (for all of $35) to one of the porthole cabins across the front of the ship. We are now in 7004. I can't get over that we went from an 11A to a 9C for only 35 bucks. Guess we will find out what those cabins with the slanted ceilings are all about!

Hoping everyone had a good week and hope you have a good weekend!

On my 1st cruise I looked for Mt Rustmore on CC and didn't find it, I have also looked at CC maps and did not find it. Could someone tell me where it might be>> I am determined to fine it this time and get my photo taken there.

Hey all! :wave2:

Wife and I thought we'd join the group, if you don't mind. :confused3

I remember having a great time with people we've met here both on our Honeymoon cruise (11-Night Southern on the Wonder in 2006) and the Inaugural Fantasy Cruise last year! :cool1: :yay: This will be our 9th Disney Cruise! :thumbsup2

We'll be going through the previous pages, but is there anything we should keep an eye out for? Meets? Excursions? etc?

Hope everyone has a blast!

ETA: I really need to update my sig line! Just a little bit out of date. LOL!

If you take the tram, you're going to walk right past it on your way to the beach. If you want to look on a map, look for the Photo Op location near Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure. :)

PS - I'm the other half of the Corwin17 party :cool1:

Hello!

My family will be going on this cruise. This will be our 3rd DCL cruise. We have been on a Dream 5 night and a Fantasy eastern. We will be cruising with my parents (Ken and Jo). This will be their first cruise. We are very excited and cannot wait until October gets here. We have always cruised in May but this year we decided to go during fall break. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

For the roll call:
Kim, Larry, Matthew (10), Nicholas (6)
room # 6512
dining - late

My parents
Ken and Joyce
room # 6510
dining - late

We are not celebrating anything but Nicholas's birthday is Oct. 29, so we have told him we are going on a cruise for his birthday. He is super excited now.

I know my countdowns are wrong. We were originally booked on the cruise after this one. Luckily, I realized it was not the week of fall break

:welcome: DH and I are soon to be grands but I remember trying to coordinate all those schedules and I do not envy you at all! This will fill our dance card with DCL and we will have been on all four ships!

Well, soon it will not be Monday anymore. It is my least favorite day of the week - although if we have a holiday and we are closed on Monday that transitions to Tuesday!
