October 13, 2013 4 Night Cruise!!!!

Has anyone in the group ever heard of Cruisefish.net before? A few nights ago I saw someone talking about it on one of the Disney Cruise site.

Yes, I check it periodically for discounted rates. They have a feature on there where you can basically pay to watch certain cruises and they will alert you to price drops. I don't do that...just check it from time to time to see what DCL cruises are discounted and by how much.

Hello everyone. I have not really been posting on here much, but plan on participating in the FE. This is our first cruise and we can not book anything until the 30th of July. So I was wondering if I will have a problem booking Palo brunch and some nursery time? Also, have any of you ever tried to book additional nursery time on the ship and been turned down?

Thanks

On every DCL cruise we have done, even when online bookings of Palo were all taken, we have been able to book once on board. I would suggest that you go to the designated place and book. At the least, they will put you on a waiting list for cancellations. We did this for brunch once and were called the next day. On the nursery, our kids are grown so can't help you with this one.

This is our first cruise too (and my first post since my mom Barbara - aka Nanmommy - has been taking care of the DIS stuff so far), so we weren't sure what to do about extra items like Palo and
excursions. Is there anything you veteran cruisers think we absolutely HAVE to do this first time? We were thinking about forgoing Palo and any extra excursions this trip since it's already overwhelming enough with just the cruise and we are also not allowed to sign up until July 30 anyways.

We've started making two sets of FE gifts for our cabins, finding items for our pirate night outfits and are now trying to figure out costumes for the Halloween activities. My SIL and I (who are in charge of each cabin's FE gifts) are worried our luggage will end up being all gifts and costumes by the time October rolls around, but half the fun is in planning, right? :)

We are lucky to have two grandmas in our group of 7, and my MIL (an experienced Carnival cruiser) has offered to help out with my daughter (5, but 6 at cruise time) and nephew (8) so that my husband, mom and I can see the sights since she's been to Nassau before.

I would like to welcome you.. to our cruise... This is only my second cruise but I have learned a lot just reading the disboards and facebook sites. I too was worried about the suit case with FE's on my first cruise ( my second suitcase was full of just FE's but at least I had room for things I bought to bring back home)
Look forward to meeting you. Have a great cruise.. Julie

Thanks for the info Jeff that helps me a lot.. Julie

Tip #1: There is nothing you absolutely have to do. Since this is a relatively short cruise, I would recommend that you visit the normal rotational dining venues, which are all magical in their own right. Palo and/or Remy can wait for another cruise.

Tip #2: If you're stressing about FE gifts, that's good sign you're over thinking them. FE gifts are inexpensive, small gifts given and received simply for the fun of it. If you're worrying about how much space they will occupy that's a good indication your gifts are probably too big and/or elaborate.

Tip #3: From what I understand about Nassau, I don't think you'll miss much by not doing an excursion. You might consider simply staying on the ship and enjoying the pool/water slide and other amenities with much less wait.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will just stay with the regular dining and not schedule the excursions this time around. We'll save that for the next one. :)

Our gifts are not that big or expensive. Really. We've just had a lot of fun coming up with ideas. We're excited!

Welcome... There are a couple of other options to consider as well. You can always do either the Palo or Remy brunch on the sea day as an alternative to evening dining it is a nice adult getaway but you still get to fully enjoy the evening rotational dining with your party. Bookings for brunch were still available yesterday.

My parents joined us last year and again this year and have offered to watch our daughter also currently 5 but will be 6 in just over a month as we are frequently reminded, so we can do the Palo brunch, however with the Oceaneer's Club and Lab we may not need their services. She went a few times on the previous cruise (4 at that time) and we had a hard time getting her out. I would definitely recommend checking them out on Sunday when you get aboard even if you don't plan or think you will use them.

Just booked this cruise and we are soooo excited. Our first Disney cruise! There are 4 of us. My, my mom and my two girls (4&14). We would love to be added to the FE group if there is still room!

Thank you :)

Does anyone know if adults wear costumes to the halloween events (other than in the adult areas/bars)? I am sure I will have a bazillion questions - I am one of those over planners...

How do fish extenders work? is there a list of rules or something? I am trying to get through all of the pages now on this thread :)

Thank you :)

Welcome to the cruise! pixiedust:

Yes, guests do get into costumes on Disney cruises...typically for Pirate Night but we'll have the Halloween activities on our cruise I believe in addition to the Pirate night versus in lieu of. We shall see. Check out the Fish Extender tab on our website (link below). There is info there and some links. The bottom link on the page is the spreadsheet where you can add your family. Feel free to ask any questions.

Yay! My daughter Avery will be so excited to hear she'll have someone so close in age to play with on the boat. Her birthday is late September. We have shown her the club online and think she will love it, but she's a little nervous about going by herself or with just her cousin. I think it's one of those things that she'll love it when she tries it. So we do that once we get on the boat? Not in advance?

You can register them for the clubs online when you do your check-in and then once you get to the port there is a separate area (right side opposite the Mickey tunnel) for completing the registration and getting them their ID bands. You can also do this process on board but we found it easier to do it in the terminal as you are good to go once you board and generally have to wait for boarding anyway so it helps to pass the time. Then once on board you are good to go to check them out along with the rest of the ship without having to spend additional time waiting in a line to register.

Wow - what a great site you created! Thank you so much - it's very helpful. I added us to the FE list.

Let the planning begin!!!! pirate:

What will you be doing eleven weeks from today?? My guess is that we will be waiting on a bus to arrive and take us to the ship! I don't imagine that we will do a park on Sunday but maybe some last minute items from DTD.

Went to a baby shower yesterday for the first grandchild that is due in August. She got a lot of very nice things - and some very inventive items as well. The Grass was my favorite though, it was actually a cool idea but I thought it was sort of an odd name for something to dry baby bottles and dishes with.

Enjoy our weekend and have a good week.

Well I am finally able to reserve activities. I did my online check in last night and got an early PAT, but Palo brunch was sold out.

Has anyone done any excursions in Nassau and really enjoyed them? I am trying to decide what would be a good one as a family of five with a 3 year old.

Now I am getting excited!

Congratulations on your check in. :thumbsup2

This will be our third trip to Nassau. The first two times my DS and I took the excursion to Blue Lagoon Island and went swimming with the Sea Lions (an experience I will never forget) and then spent a few hours on the beach. We took the tender back to port and walked around the shops and markets before heading back to the ship. This time we are just doing the beach day :beach: (also on Blue Lagoon). That will still give us enough time to walk around Nassau before heading back on board.

My sister and I were so excited last night to be completing our online check in. Got the papers all signed and safely in the official cruise binder!! Now just waiting on the passports to arrive and that pesky GTY status to magically turn into an actual cabin number!! :wizard:
