and I said our next family of four will fill the last family of four's spot on list #1, so I will add amyb16 to list #1 then that list will be closed out so long as no one else drops out (It has been final list like 10 times now!!!)

I'm off to take child #2 to camp for another 4 hours of driving after 6 hours of driving to take child #1 to camp yesterday. 5 days no kids.....woo hoo! I'm not gonna know what to do with myself! LOL!

We are also GTY. We were GTY last October cruise on the Fantasy. We were assigned a cabin on Day 51 with a nice upgrade. 5E gty to a 4C. We opted to take our chance again with GTY.

I ready that often cabins are assigned between day 50-59. (but not always).

I have also read about 10 days before, 30 days before etc etc.

I do know that I check every day though! It will be assigned in plenty of time to update the FE list.

We were going to book 7a gty but the day we booked (a week ago) it wasn't available that day. So we did 6B GTY which was the next lowest option. I just looked on the DCL website and a 7a popped up available again today.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what we get. I kind of like the surprise.

Last year we actually wanted to keep the 5e because of the over sized verandah but ended up being more mid ship and bigger room. So that works too!

What is gty?

It's when you book a certain Category but don't get a room number at the time of booking. Then DCL will assign you a room in the Category you booked or better but you don't have a choice of which room or area of the ship. I don't book gty because I want a certain area of the ship and like my room assigned right away.

So, I understand what GTY is, but how do you find it? When I look up our cruise, I don't see any options for it. I have seen it as a choice on a few other cruises, but not for ours, yet we have a number of people who have booked GTY. Just wondering for future purposes...
