Well, it was quite the project... The house we are presently is a ranch style bungalow built in the early 70's and then reno'd in the 80's. The bath was all white shiney ceramic tile floor to ceiling, with grey tub, toilet, sink. Trust me it was brutal.
We wanted to be a bit of an oasis, so, we made it a bit bigger by just moving some walls. Gutted right to the studs and started from scratched.
We had a 6ft 2 person soaker jacuzzi tub installed with jets, cromotherapy (light therapy), and a heater that keeps the water at 102 all the time.
Heat floors, highly recommend them. Controlled audio system in the ceiling so you can listen to any type of music you want, and a flat screen tv on the wall. It turned out beautiful. Except people go in and take a long time before they come out.
It took about 5 weeks to complete, but worth it. The heated floor thing, we plan to put it in the kitchen, front entrace and basement bath eventually. Its not expensive and I promise you, you'll luv it. Especially on those cold mornings.
There's always something to do around the house. So we figure we'll just go do one room at a time. And of course, we never let it interfere with our holidays.
Hope you're all gearing up for New Years. Were off to a fondue party. How fun is that!

cheers

Alex - Just as I have got some time to myself to check in on the DIS, my laptops wireless modem kicked the bucket last night, so I have to send it in for repair on Wednesday.

WOW, that sounds amazing, can I come over and just hang out in your bathroom:goodvibes

Just wanted to wish everyone here a early Happy New Year. We're going to be a little bust tomorrow so we'll be away from the house for most of the day working on our other house.
I wanted to share a little slideshow we made for our tour at the fire department station two. The slideshow has pictures of alll the fires and training we did in 2007.
I hope you enjoy it.

Hey Kristin, I think you and I talked about this, but I watch it, I have for quite awhile. It makes me laugh, esp. how OCD Kate is. Did you see how upset she gets when the kids don't match or when they got ice cream on their clothes LOL. Got give them credit though, they both seem to have the patience of Saints.

Imagine being behind them for a ride at WDW............

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Kristin, I hope you're feeling a little better today. Remember to take it easy and take care of yourself for the sake of your family. :)

Gina, That snow fort is awesome! Looks like everyone is having a lot of fun!

No snow here. As the weatherman puts it, artic cold for us until the end of the week. One good thing about it being so cold is, the dogs go out, do their business, and come right back in. No playing around for them! :rotfl2:

Back to work tomorrow.:sad2: It should be very interesting... My paralegal told me in confidence last week that she is giving her notice tomorrow. The Big Guy, my boss, a Partner of the firm, will not be happy. I've been w him for umpteen years, and when someone leaves, he takes it personally. He broods, sulks, gets angry.. Yes, it should be interesting.

Hope everyone had a good New Years, and too many hangovers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Well, I chaperoned the New Years Eve dance for my girls. We were about 10-15 minutes from our house in South Pasadena. On the way there, some of the roads were closed because of the Rose Parade, so it was an adventure getting there. Then after we got there, they started escorting some of the floats right passed the building we were in to the starting point of the parade.
These floats are AMAZING in person. That was pretty exciting!! Then on the way home at about 1:30 AM, we passed part of the parade route....it is unbelievable how many people are camped out on the sidewalks waiting for the parade. It's a big block party!! That was lots of fun!!

Kristin,
Take it easy. You need to give yourself time to recover. Relax, take it slow.
I hope you feel better soon!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Janet,

Thanks, for the beautiful card and picture of the kids from the concert. Loved the envelope tooo!!!!!!!!!! Thanks your very thoughtfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristin

You are very welcome Kristin! Take care of yourself and get that rest while you can...Cruise planning right around the corner you know, now that we are in 2008!!!!

Sorry I have been MIA on the boards lately, but have been extremely busy at the new house. Moving furniture, stripping wallpaper, choosing paint colors, and working with vendors for tile, granite, carpet, etc. Contractor is doing great and hopefully cabinets will be along soon for the kitchen and then we can see that room come to life soon...My new goal is move-in by St. Patty's Day, because goodness knows my baby tummy size is becoming an issue already and will just be getting worse as the weeks pass...Feeling great, but get tired soooooo easily!

Take care all and Happy 2008! :)

I will be happy to share pictures soon, when there is something good to take pictures of, that is! The pictures I hve taken so far are only of the before and after demolition, so not much fun to share...I mainly did this so that I will alsways have preserved memories of what my parents' home last looked like before I began my new life there...Soon I hope to be able to share exciting pictures...The only "new" that is in place so far is the tub and shower walls...Everything else is still studs, bare walls, stripped floors, etc...Soon, I am hoping!!!

Cookies are done...Gotta' go! (Had to try out the new Kitchenaid Mixher DH got me from "Santa"! :lmao: )

Ooooh it must be so very exciting to see the new house taking shape...Make sure to take care of yourself Janet..

I love my kitchen aid mixer too...What kind of cookies did you make??

My friend from Maryland called me today they are going on a cruise in May and were going to rebook to go with us on this cruise and she called to tell me that they will not be able to join us on this cruise since her DH's stepsister announced she is getting married this week of our cruise. I am bummed out since they were our cruising friends last time/dinner buddies.
I am wondering if I email Carol can she get me a table at dinner for just my family of four??
