Hello Everyone!!!
Candy, the girls gowns are BEAUTIFUL!! As are they!!! I don't know if I'll get a new dress, but the 2 dresses I have, I have worn on both cruises! Can't have photos in the same dress, right? I too, am a jeans and tshirts person, so dressing up is wierd for me too!
Allen, We would LOVE a Lime Green Mickey Head or 2!! Add us to your list!
Okay...our weekend....We had SO much fun! Ate WAY too much food! Met a TON of new friends and got to visit with a few old friends!
Friday's drive was uneventful. We took the boys past our first house and ate at a restaraunt we LOVE! We had enough food left over that we reheated it for dinner. Friday night everyone came to socialize and a spring thunderstorm rolled through.
Saturday we met up with everyone and drove over to Blackwater Falls. Walked down the 214 steps to get there....and then had to walk back up the 214 steps to leave! Left there and headed to Seneca Rocks. There is a trail you can walk. It's 1.5 miles, up the side of the mountain to get to an overlook. Connor was DYING to walk up, so I went with him. I have walked it 2 other times, but that was 15 and 19 years and 60 pounds ago, so it was not easy. Needless to say, we only walked 1/3 of it, and turned around to come back down. Partly because I was winded, partly because my plantar faciiatis was flairing and partly because at the pace we were going, we would not make it back down in time to meet up with everyone else. He was okay with it and we enjoyed just spending some time together. Then we all left for Smokehole Caverns. BEAUTIFUL Cavern! Our tour guide was great! Played right along with our antics! After the caverns we headed back to our cabin at Blackwater Falls. On the way, we were witness to a carwreck and became first responders. We had a line of about 14 trucks cruising at about 65 miles an hour, going down hill. Coming the other way was a man in a car waiting to turn into his drive as we passed. Coming behind him was a car with 4 teenage girls. I doubt they were older then 16. The driver was gauking at the Avalanches and didn't see the guy waiting to turn. He couldn't turn because we were passing, when she finally saw him, she just locked them up. He was smart enough to give his car all the gas he could to try and get some momentum going. She rearended him, big time! The backend of his sedan was totally crumpled and the front end of her Dodge Neon was totally crumpled. We pulled off within 1000 feet, radioed ahead to the group, told our boys to NOT get out of the truck and we ran back up the hill to see. By the Grace of God, all 4 girls were okay. The driver was freaking that her Mom was going to be mad. I tried to calm her down and tell her that her Mom is just going to be happy she is alive. The passenger was upset that she lost her cell and cigs. We found them, but she was very calm after that...I think she was in shock. In the back, the blonde had her shin all scrapped. I think her leg might have went under the seat and the dark haired girl in the back had a gooseegg the size of a soft ball on her head. I am sure she either hit the window or piller or the front seat. OR when the front seat broke and came back it smacked her in the head. Anyway, we were SO grateful to find four girls alive and talking and crying. We had to pry the doors open to get them out. The airbags did deploy and I think that saved thier lives. When we got to them, NONE of them had seatbelts on!! We couldn't have been more then 30 secs from the time of the crash to the time we arrived. The other driver walked down and was SUPER cool about the whole thing. He said he was even gauking at the Av's. We were there about 45 mins. The driver's Mom arrived and Volunteer Rescue arrived, we left all our info with the male driver's Wife, this accident happened at the bottom of his driveway! By the time we got to the cabin, dinner was started, the food was out and people were having a good time! The weather that day was summer.....76 degrees and abundant sun! Some of us even got a sunburn! BUT, but the time the sun set, it was getting cold, more like a fall day!
Sunday morning we awoke to winter! It was snowing when we got up!! Some people had never seen snow or driven in it! We all had breakfast at the lodge and went our separate ways. I have yet to load my photos to picturetrail. I was going to when I got home, but Steve's desktop froze up and I didn't feel like dealing with it! I'll try to get some photos posted later!
Steve stayed home from work today with "stomach distress" and Connor stayed home from school for the same. I am not sure if it is a virus or what I call "traveler's gut". Steve must be feeling better this afternoon since he mowed the grass!!!
I hope Kristin is having a good time in FL!
We are all so tired from the weekend!! I plan to be in bed early, but I'll check back in a bit. I need to flip the wash (I have stripped my bed and Connor's), and make something for dinner!
It's good to be home!
