Colton has poor vision. He wears glasses, but even with that correction he doesn't see 20/20, only about 20/60. When we bought this truck, we installed the biggest screen we could at that time, which is a 15" drop down and hooked it to the PS2 for DVDs and gaming while on the road. If we sell this truck, and get the factory screen, we are looking at a 7" screen...not good for someone who can't see past the end of his nose. We could go back and get it installed this way again, BUT we already have that! As for Colton, he gets around okay, he's not blind, but for example, let's say he heads over to the ice cream station and we go to find a table. He'll scan the crowd to find us, and I'll wave my arm really big, then he knows it's us. Or if we are trying to point something out, we try and find a big landmark (see that yellow billboard) and give direction to where the object is. (to the left of that yellow billboard) I have learned over the years to not say stuff like, You don't see that? or It's right THERE! It does no good and makes him feel bad. SO, we usually sit towards the front in a theature, or when we see the Disney Shows, it's the first or second rows for us! We don't know what his future is yet as far as driving goes. The Eye Dr said, "we'll worry about it when we get to it"
Okay, that was a novel I wasn't expecting! LOL
Time to fold clothes!
Michele,
Don't you love those kind of comments? (the doc... worry about it when we get to it)... Sheesh!
tell Colton that he is in good company... Sean has been wearing glasses for a few years now (near sighted)... I was horrified when I found out he needed them! He put them on and on the way to the car said to me "Oh mom... I didn't KNOW that the trees had leaves all over them!"
Kaj has glasses too (though doesn't wear them as much as he should...). He has one eye that is near sighted, one that is far sighted... and will never have GOOD binocular vision... he had eye surgery at age 3 for esotropia.
Can you believe that we are so CLOSE to leaving for the cruise????? Ok, yes, it is still 105 days away, but still.... WE are less than 11 or so weeks from our take-off to adventure!!
Have a good evening all! We have two of the nurses who will be at the special needs camp coming by tonight to see Sean's equipment so they know how to work it all. Busy busy!!!!
Hello Everyone!!
Kristin, LOVE the toes! I was thinking it was just the Mickey Head Icon, those are cute!!!
Candy, Prayers going up for the girls and your father in law. What a scary day you have had!!!! Praying for your strength as well!
Nancy, Here you go and tell us how good the boys have been, but truely, you have yelled and hollared so much you've done lost your voice! LOL I hope it's just allergies and will pass soon!!
Denis, Safe trip home!!!
Allen, I'm tellin' ya, It is SO dang tempting to trade...but I just keep telling myself, in 26 more payments, it's OURS. It's the bells and whistles that get you though! Plus I keep saying....we have this truck the way WE want it! Also, the way we need it......I haven't said yet, but Colton has poor vision. He wears glasses, but even with that correction he doesn't see 20/20, only about 20/60. Colton made that SAME comment when he got his glasses! He was SHOCKED that trees weren't like large lollipops! LOL He keeps getting worse, but that is to be expected until he matures completely. Me and my Dad both do not have corrected 20/20 vision either, but we are at about 20/30, give or take. We have no idea what is causing this. We took Colton to a pediatric opthamologist years ago, and honestly, she was surprised, had never seen this before, and had no answers for us. I do know that the optic nerve is whiter then pinker, but that's about it! I had lasiks eye surgery, and now have to wear glasses to see distance. I don't wear them around the house or to read, but do need them for driving or when I am out shopping...although I can't read with them, so if I need to read the small print on a lable, I have to take them off...can you say BI-FOCULS? ::::sigh:::: I need to make an appt for myself anyway, it's been a year. I am hoping they have bi-focul contact lenses....I'll go back to them!
Could these boards be any more messed up today?
