We always go in Sept, which we plan on doing again this year We usally depart the Sat before Labor Day and we experiecnce no crowds at all...it is wonderful

I thought next year it may be nice to go in Oct and go to MNSSHP and to F&W at Epcot. Can some Oct travelers please advise me fo the following;

1. What is the weather like, is it still warm enought to swim? Waterparks are always a big part of our trip!

2. What are the crowds like? Will the fact that Oct is the month with MNSSHP and F&W impact all parks on all days, I am really spoliled by the deserted parks in Sept and would like to have the same if we go in Oct.

Thanks so very much!

Leigh -
October will not be as dead as September by any means. However I was there 10/24 - 10/28 of 2002 and my group either had exceptional timing or we just went to the right parks on the right days. We never had more than a 10 minute wait and that wasn't very often. But when I got home I read reports that others thought the parks were crowded then. Weather-wise the year I went it was really warm except for 1 day that I wore jeans and a sweatshirt and was still a little cool. The night of MNSSHP was a little cool but not uncomfortable. We're going Labor Day week as well - because of crowds. And September is still "value" season where October is "regular" season. I don't know if that will be considered when you are making your decision but I just thought I would throw that out there. I did absolutely LOVE MNSSHP and want to take my little one the year before he/she turns 3. Your family will love the party if you decide on October. Good Luck!

Went in September in 2001, and was absolutely miserable. It was too hot. Last year went in October and had the best time. Weather was great and crowds weren't too bad. If you use the fast pass, you shouldn't have to wait for the popular rides. Also, attended MNSSHP last year for the first time and had a blast. Plan to go again October 19th.

October weather, while still 'pool' weather, is much less annoyingly hot/humid than September. One idea: since the first MNSSHP is early - Oct 3 - schedule an end of Sept/early Oct trip. This way you get great weather and - if your trip starts before Oct 2 - you get value season rates.

I think it's a fair statement to say it's usually in the 70s and 80s in the day and definately less humid. Evening swims could be on the chilly side. Epcot right at the center of the Food and Wine Festival can get crowded but the rest of the park is fine.

Don't forget to include Universal Studios in your Halloween fun. They have a wonderful set-up for the ocassion. It starts off on weekends only in Oct. It is more adult oriented but if you limit yourself to certain attractions it can be ok for kids, too.

I would say September is less crowded overall but October is just fine. You may have some competition at the parks because of golf tournaments at that time. Try to ask if there are any scheduled events like that before you book.
