I just looked on-line, and if we changed our ressie to the 1st week of Oct, 7 nights in the CR Tower... it is almost $2500 less than our trip the 1st week in December!! And it is the free dining deal.

Gosh... would you cancel out the Dec trip and take advantage of the Oct free dining plan? We can go either time. I was looking very forward to seeing WDW decorated for Christmas, but I think the Halloween Party would be fun too!

How crowded is WDW the 1st week of Oct? We'd be going back home the Saturday before Columbus Day (Oct 1-8).

Please give me any advice or tips. I just keep looking at all of that money... (and it's a lot!)

Thank you!

For that kind of savings I'd go in October. Also you'll get to enjoy MNSSHP & the Food & Wine Fest. The weather is a bit nicer too.

AND with the savings you could put towards another trip, maybe the next one could be a Christmas trip. ;)

I have always wanted to do the MNSSHP!!!

I'd pick Oct. It's my favorite time to visit WDW (Dec is my second)

just to let you know triplefigs, we were in the same situation. We have gone to WDW the last 3 Octobers, before that (when the children were younger) we went for 3 years in December. I LOVE December! I LOVE Christmas decorations at Disney and wanted to get back to seeing them again. AND my inlaws (whom I dearly love) wanted to go with us in December, they can not go in October (SIL is expecting that week). That being said, we changed our plans and are going the same dates that you are looking at Oct 1 - 8. This free dining plan is too good to pass up for my family of 5. We won't be staying deluxe though, we'll be staying at a moderate for the first time (thought it was a better deal). I'm still terribly excited about going in October though. We love MNSSHP, the Food & Wine festival will be going on (The Commodores will be performing that week :teeth: ), the weather will still be warm enough for the kids to swim, and we can eat ourselves silly FOR FREE. It's a great time to go!

To answer your question about crowds - it will be more crowded than December of course, but with knowing how to plan from these boards it'll be very managable (sp?). You'll (we'll) have a great time! :cool1:

With that kind of savings, I wouldn't hesitate to change to Oct. :sunny:

Would I do it? Already have! We were thinking late November just before the girls turn 3, but with the free dining, we switched to the first week of October and switched resorts, too ... (from dreaming about the CR to booking at CSR) If you'll do CR at either time, then yes, go for Hallowe'en and the free dining! You can save the $$ for another trip, or use it for MNSSHP and other treats, or a combination.
If you were interested, you might even consider saving a little more money towards another trip by switching resorts if you're interested; I'd think WL would work well for your crew....and the difference might pay for most of another trip! Then again, I am married to someone who lusts after a CR stay, so I 'get' sticking with that, too.
:-)
And hey, it might just be Unofficial Multiples' week; I know of two families with multiples who are going that week, us included :-)

Sorry - of topic - but we'll be there with our twins (DS & DD 11)!

Under those circumstances, I'd go in OCTOBER. Our trip is planned for that reason (Meal plan) b/c you will NOT be able to beat that deal AND the parks are much emptier in Oct than on into Dec, so I hear. I've never been in Dec., but early october is still value season...entering into the next season, so it's a bit less crowded.
HTH!

I have been both at christmas and twice in October. Was hoping this year to take DH at christmas - I just love Christmas! But we too saved lots when we booked for October! Well my DH actually keeps teasing me about that... I used the savings to upgrade to a deluxe resort! It is hard to justify when we don't spend much time at the resort, but with all we saved, BC here we come! And anyway, one of my favorite things at Disney is the F& W - we are booked for the party of the Sense and very excited! And have booked MNSSHP, too. And of course the OCT weather is the best! Yeah a tough decision, but I think Oct wins hands down.

Triplefigs-- have seen your posts over on "homemade shirts". (love that thread!)
If/when you decide to switch your trip, be sure to check out thread on "who's going 1st week of Oct". Hope to see ya in Oct! I'm thinking triplets in original coordinated shirts should not be too hard to find :goodvibes

My 2 main goals are to see WDW during October and also December.

This will be our first trip to WDW in October (just me and DH) and I am so looking forward to it! I don't know when we'll ever get to see the Christmas decorations . . . .but one day we will.

Now, my advice (for what it is worth) if you had your heart set on December as I see in your ticker, you could probably save money just by doing some price shopping and not staying conceirge. Did you price out a garden view room at the Poly for that time period in December? I think you'll find it cheaper than the Contemporary Tower. Even Wilderness Lodge is a great resort and even less than the monorail resorts.

I don't know much about the dining plan . . .when we go to WDW we usually do not have huge $$$ meals every day. We'll have breakfast (either a character or a regular sit down) and if we are hungry during the day we'll get a snack . . .then do an early dinner either at a sit down or a counter service.

I personally don't find WDW packages save you any money.

Have fun in choosing! :wizard:

So funny! (I'm the OP!) I posted this and then we settled on Christmas. Unsubscribed from the thread in early July, and just happened to notice the thread active again today~!

Anyway, we got a AAA package for Christmas at the GF. Got AAA room rate ($391 per night) plus tickets and dining plan for $4700 total. Our goal was under $5000 total, so I met it! Got free airfare with my frequent flier miles, so no cost there. And we're staying concierge so that should cover all snacks, etc. Going to give the kids $100 each to spend, so that's my $5000! Oh, and I've just gone back to work (very limited part time), but that extra money will help with the trip!

We are major Christmas fanatics, so we decided it was worth the money. We will do a beach trip next summer, but our next Disney trip will be in late October to see the MNSSHP and enjoy a different type of year. Thanks to all for replying. And yes, anyone who sees us in December will recognize my trio in their homemade Disney shirts! (They stand out as a group not dressed alike, so with matching shirts they should be quite the site!) BTW, that rhymed-LOL!

Call me crazy but with saving that much money I would probably turn around and book another trip in December at one of the Value resorts. That way you could experience both. Go for the October savings.

I forgot to add that DH got a major promotion and cannot go in October as it is the end of the quarter for his company (July, Oct, Jan, April are no go's). He is in corporate finance, and they don't allow trips during this time. Made our December decision a little easier!

GF at Christmas! I think that would be the ultimate treat! Have a wonderful time
