Oct cruise out of San Diego

I was curious to as what the seas are like when cruising in early Oct out of San Diego to Mexico. I know you can’t know for sure, but I don’t want to be cruising during a known hurricane time, with likelihood of choppy waters. If you have gone on one, please share your experience. Thank you!

We don't have hurricanes in California. Generally the weather is about 75 in San Diego with no humidity and sunny skies. Might be a bit foggy in the morning. Generally, the seas are pretty calm down to Ensenada as it is only about 100 miles south of there. Given early October, I assume you mean the three night cruise to Ensenada. If you mean the 5 or 7 night cruise to Cabo and beyond, I'm not sure how far south the calm seas last as I have not done a Mexican Riviera Cruise south of Ensenada. But I've done at least 10 cruises to Ensenada lol.

Although at this point I hope you're not looking at a 2020 Cruise out of San Diego, it's unlikely that will happen as the Wonder has already passed through the Panama Canal east to the Atlantic and doesn't really appear that DCL will be doing any more cruises on the West Coast for the rest of 2020. Won't say never but it's not really looking good, but hey, there's 2021 to book!

Definitely not for this year. We have one booked in April 2021, but not sure if that is going to happen, so we thought maybe booking Oct 2021 might be a safer bet.

Have done the Cabo Cruise 5x. No weather issues. Cabo generally is still very warm in Oct but you'll know right away you're heading back north to SD as the temps drop.

We did the Halloween on the High Seas Cruise out of San Diego last October (2019). I absolutely loved every minute of it. No need to worry about the seas. Weather is gorgeous. Who knows what it may look like going forward, but I am so grateful we went last year.

I have done 4 DCL cruises sailing from San Diego in the fall and the seas were calm. I actually much prefer the temperatures on the fall SD cruises.

I'll just pipe in and say that we did a 5 night out of San Diego in 2018. Hands down my favorite cruise. We've sailed in spring and August on the Dream for Bahamas and just really prefer the October San Diego cruises. The water in Cabo was really nice and it was warm enough for pool and hot tub time during the day. But headed back up to SD, the nights were beautiful and cool. Really enjoyable for deck time and a nice drink. If I remember correctly, a larger storm system did move through the area about a day before we got further down and you would have never known it.

We are on one mid-October 2020.....we're just waiting for the 'official' canx to move to a 2021 one.....
