Oct 7 08 disney bride is excited

Hello! I'm new here. I've been lurking for a few weeks... found you guys right in the middle of my Escape Wedding planning.

Crushing on how organized you brides are with your reports! LOVE IT!

the deets:
where: seabreeze point, oct 7, 08 at 2:30pm
who: just family- 16 of us
why: we took our first vacation 2gether to wdw in 2005... got along fantastic for first real time away... how can you not get along at wdw??? After Christmas engagement in 2006 we decided that wdw was the best place in the world for our magical day.

So here's my question: we've booked the MK photo shoot, with the second park add on (epcot- italy and morocco.... fyi: morocco was chosen after seeing lurkyloo's photos!!! ps: hope everything works out with your pics!!)

Is there anything you ladies would advise during the shoot? and is there a favourite Disney photographer you would recommend?

Sorry, no advice...but I just wanted to say that your wedding is 2 days before ours!! We're getting married in Epcot on Oct 9th.

All I can advise during the shoot is DON'T DO THEIR SUGGESTED POSES! Sorry... we just found that, when we did pix with our wedding photographers, The Roots, we just kinda hung out, had fun, and kissed a lot - and the pix turned out great.

Disney likes to suggest a lot of standard poses, and we looked TOTALLY awkward in all of them - I look like I'm holding up the building half the time, or twisting my neck to see the "kick me" sign on my back

DH is way shorter than me, so when they posed us with him in the background and me in the foreground, I look like the 50-Foot Woman and he looks like one of the Seven Dwarves - nice!

Although technically I would be wearing the mouse ears with the top hat. I am afterall the extremely rare, ever elusive groom who lurks on the disney wedding boards trying to get ideas and helpful hints for my DFTW. We just might run into each other, though as my bride-to-be and I are staying at the Boardwalk villas the week of our wedding(s). We just might have to lurk around SBP on the 7th at around 2:30pm.

I met Murray when we worked together in Calgary AB... and I did not like him one bit! Infact he was "kindof" my boss (it's along story based on our careers) and he made me cry on more than one occasion ...about a year later I moved back to Ontario for a promotion.. a few years into the job, we needed another staff member... Murray was roommates with a good friend of mine, I had heard he was interested in moving, and despite my original feelings (not to mention he's AMAZING at his job)...the years had softened my senses. I called him up and we talked for hours... it was the weirdest phone call ever... you know when you just click with someone? and we've been together for 5 years this May.

Murray proposed on Christmas morning 2006 after asking my dad's permission.

We wanted to get married earlier, but my brother is getting married in Cuba this April and we thought 2 destination weddings only months apart was too much for everyone... so October 7th it is.

The Plan:
my family of 4, his family of 7, and his best friend, her fiancee and child for a week in Disney.... except for my family none of them have been to Disney (blasphemous I know!) his brother has a new baby, his bff's daughter will be 2 and our other neice and nephew are 11 and 14.. so the kids will LOVE IT!

Rehersal Dinner: going to book Cindy's table on the 6th, the night before so everyone can meet... his family lives in Alberta and northern Ontario so this will be the first and probably only time our 2 families get 2gether.

Something special: we are making t-shirts for everyone to wear when they arrive... and at rehersal dinner.... looking for suppliers... t-shirts are expensive... got a new computer, bought a disney art program and are currently spending spare time making funny looking shirts-- artists we are not

Dress: I will post a pic in the next month when i go for a fitting... but it's ivory strapless with a wine red middle and ivory lace overlay, and wine red sash with a jewel holding it to the dress.

Flowers: going with tussy mussy.. but changing white roses for ivory gerbers... I'm just not that into roses... with hidden mickey's... DF will wear white stephanotis with hidden mickey.

Jewelry: bought the swarvoski Cindy choker from ebay after seeing it on one of our fellow Dis'er picutres... so far that's all... looking for shoes when the snow melts and can leave the winter boots behind.

Hair/ Makeup: Ana at BeauteSpecial after all of your lovely advice... for myself, the 2 mom's and my 11 year old neice-- no makeup for her, just hair

DF: calling Carolyn Allen's for Disneyish tux

Wedding Cake: going with yellow cake and raspberry mousse-- added cindy choco topper- thx to Disboards!

Ceremony: SeaBreezePoint-- pretty traditional, Ron Rosenzweig for the officiant. I want to walk down isle to Pachelbel's cannon d...LOVE it.

Cake cutting ect... ordered a second champagne and a cider for the kids... we've ordered mickey ears for everyone, even the babies with embrodiery for the pics- to be delivered to the site day of (that way no one forgets them)... and there will be no HATERS... they will wear the hats with a smile or I will go bridezilla. ordered us the tophat and veil...

Reception: Portobello's for dinner 6pm ish... having mickey mouse ricekrispie squares at the table for everyone.

MK photoshoot x2: following morning at 6am... yikkes... will sew silk scarves together and wear as night cap so not to ruin hair... so romantic for wedding night I know!!!!! we're doing MK and Epcot- Italy and Morocco

We had the same problem with our local photographer years ago, they are so unnatural they looked dorky. I'm still trying to figure out if that was his idea of candid or cutie pie or whatever. We have the reverse problem of Lurky, DH is 6'4 and I'm about a foot shorter. The only thing that turned out decent was a portrait shot that we posed. The photogs I had my head in my DH's armpit.

Wow a destination wedding in Cuba, How was your bother and DF able to do that??? I thought it was really hard to get over to Cuba for someone wanting to visit their family that resides there. But they are allowing an entire wedding party?? That's pretty amazing. I would love to see pictures after the wedding please.

I have Canadian business associates that vacation in Cuba regularly(prices are very reasonable) and they love it. I think they started going there about 7 yrs ago, Canada doesn't have the travel restrictions to Cuba like the U.S. does.

Oh That makes sense.

I had a friend who was born in Cuba and came to the US in her twenties with her husband and children. When her FIL became ill in Cuba, it took her weeks and weeks to get approval for her family to go back to see him. It was so stressful for them.

I have heard that there are beaches there that are so beautiful. Maybe someday Americans will be able to go see for ourselves.

with the one group of people who will understand... DF searched tirelessly and spoiled me rotten by buying all my wedding jewelry... he found the 2006 Swarvoski Cindi collection and stayed up all night on ebay to win it for me.. how wonderful is that?????? My dress is in... waiting for delivery of jewels and will take a picture and post it here. I"m sooo excited
