We have done the pirate museum 3 times with different grandkids. Its about A 7 TO 10 minute walk from the ship to get there. I wasnt worried about walking the area. We walked past banks and some official buildings, nothing run down looking and lots of people around..

It is located 2 blocks behind the straw market (which can be seen from the ship) It is a large purple building. You buy admission tickets in the gift shop then go back out and the Pirate outside will show you the entrance.

If you actually read the information in there it will take about an hour to do the museum. In case you have kids who dont like the dark I will tell you the first part is dark, its a night scene at a dock. But right away you can walk into a well lit area if you want. one bathroom part way through the musuem.
Be sure and bring your camera because at the end of the museum there is a court yard with stocks you can pose in for photos. Kids love to do that.
If you google Pirate museum Nassau Bahamas they have a good web site and sometimes have a discount coupon you can print off.
All our trips there the family had a good time.

Kathy

Thanks for posting this. We were planning on heading there also.

well, I can finally get to planning our DCL cruises.

I checked in (and posted) on this thread a while ago and then went away. In March, I did two back to back 7 night cruises on the Carnival Dream (with my 16 turning 17 year old god daughter). :cloud9:

I was home for a week when my grandmother (my Dad's mom) passed away. :sad1:

what made us all feel better during the days where we needed to travel an hour and a half up and back to the viewings and funeral was talking about our DCL cruises (I'm once again taking my mom and dad).

Nassau is a BIG ??? for us. My mom is in a wheelchair and there seems to be so little for her to do. It's the same at most of the ports though, one of the reasons I love DCL when I travel with my mom - Castaway Cay is the one port I know she can get off at and have a great time.

Doing the B2B, we have two stops at Nassau. I'm thinking of booking an excursion for my dad to go on by himself the first time we stop (and I'll stay on the ship with my mom) and then an excursion for me the second time we stop (and my dad will stay with my mom - though knowing them, they'll get off the ship and go to the straw market and buy tons of junk :rolleyes1).

I also wonder what the chances of being able to book a Cabana on Castaway Cay if we're not in a concierge cabin?

I feel like I know so little about the new ship - it's definitely time to start my research!

Sorry for you loss:grouphug:

If anyone is flying Jetblue, they have reduced the mid week flights for October. I just had $90 put in our Jetblue credit bank for 2 one way flights that dropped today.

So, if you have booked already with Jetblue check to see if you have a credit available or if you haven't booked and jetblue is an option, see it the price is right.

We've got SWA flights down, but they haven't opened up the schedule to get us back. I'll have to check and see if their prices changed, too.

Happy wedenesday everyone,

Denise, did your friends do a cruise meet ? I was wondering if they could recommend a good place to hold one. We have had 2 good suggestions so far.
Secret deck on the back of ship and the new Outlook area by the Quiet Cove.

Hi Morgan, sounds like your still in a whirlwind even after the feast is over with. I thought this was suppose to be your relaxing time ;)

Amy,
The list is more than just a FE list it's a list so everyone here can start getting aquainted with others and find kids the ages of their kids so they can find friends before the cruise. Plus meet information.
On past cruises we have always sent out one early for people to see, then after more people are added over the next few weeks we will send out a revised list for everyone. Usually by cruise time you will get 3 lists. You will always get the final list shortly before the cruise.

They are fun to look at and just another way to add alittle excitmeent abut the upcoming cruise.:goodvibes

Pouring rain here still. Down close to freezing tonight too.:cold:

I am so ready for summer to get here!

Ok totally understandable now I thought it was just FE and was just thinking it was way early for that I know I havent even begun to thinking about it only cause we are still trying to pay off the cruise

I have never been on a DCL. Is there something that I should go and see while I am there.

There's so much to see on the disney cruise!

Personally, I love the adult areas and I'm super excited to check out the adult only pool on the Dream - well, that and the "Pink" bar :lovestruc

What are your interests? It might help to determine what may be your "don't miss" on the cruise.

Actually, right about now it would be nice to get a "heads up" on the FE list. If I'm going to make something, I like to get a start on it early.

I have about 20 different ideas for my FE gifts - having an idea about how many are on the list would certainly narrow it down.

Just waiitng to hear back from one lady today. If I dont hear soon I will just send out the list as is. At least it will give you a pretty good idea of how many so far.:thumbsup2

Hello all! Just checking in! Nothing fun going on here. Trying to get clothes switched out of closets and stuff done around the house. Dale has a few big meetings at work the next few weeks, so he will be spending some time prepping for those.

May be I will check out the menu as we get closer to being able to book it. I have seen the menu so far and since I am a pretty picky eater, nothing really looks good. May be that will change with the next menu.

Trouble is that while the menu lists the items it really doesn't do a good job of describing the actual dish. While the menu last time had "veal" and vaguely mentioned that it was served 3 ways it really didn't do a good job of describing it. While I like veal (not my first choice), the way this was served was amazing and had tastes that exploded in my mouth. Our tablemates didn't order the veal (didn't appeal to him) and made him taste mine; he immediately wanted an order but the kitchen was closed.

With Remy's it is not just what is on the menu but the way it is prepared and served that is worth it. Chicken is not always the same chicken.

Oh - and has anyone read reviews on how Palo is on the new ship?

When we were on the Magic (our first cruise ever) we didn't get the chance but having the duplicate menus on the B2B, it's something I'd like to try. At $75 a head, Remy is something we'll pass on though.

It's really cold here in Toronto still and I'm beginning to think winter is never going to end :sad2:.

Palo's is the same Palo's. Excellent food and service. Loved it plan on it again for either dinner or brunch. I love that they can make half size portions and half pizzas (allows me to order twice as much :) )

Remy's is definitely worth it once. Since they change menus every 6mos, I plan on making it a least a once every 6mos to try each menu.

Does anyone know anything about the D lounge?
Is it family friendly during the day?
Is it in use the first afternoon?

I am asking because someone told me they thought it would be a nice place for a meet. But I know nothing about it.

It is the equivalent of the Studio Sea on the classic ships. On our last Dream cruise it was used by Palo's and Remy's for appointment changes on embarkation day.

Hi everyone,

I have sent out the cruisemates list to everyone tonight.:thumbsup2
About a dozen of them came back saying they were undeliverable?

I didnt resend them yet because a couple of people got them in their SPAM file even though I got a notice that they didnt get them. So maybe everyone did get them.

I dont understand why this happened?:confused3

If you have sent me your information so your on the list and you didnt get a cruisemates list tonight Please let me know so I can send another one out to you.

I will be home all weekend and will check my mail and PMs a lot in case you didnt get a list.:surfweb:

Thankyou everyone,

Kathy

Be sure and check your spam file for it.

You can pm me to confirm my email if you like.
Can you send it again or you can just send it thru here in a pm if you like.
Thanks :goodvibes

Denise, congrats on your daughter's wedding! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear you weren't able to attend. Judging by the scenery I'm assuming they were married in Colorado?

When is your next visit to Rocky Mountain high country?
