Scrapbooking Exchange Information

What is a Scrapbook exchange? It’s a way to help an individual who wants to create a memory with their photos and to generate that memory making in an imaginative and resourceful way.:)

If you are a scrapbook person and want to build your scrapbook, here is a fun way to collect all your major events by having others assist you in it. Anyone who wants to participate will help scrap YOUR cruise without YOU having to do all those pages by yourself and in the process, everyone will be contributing to their own scrapbooks, too.:yay:

How can this be done? Easy…one person will create a ONE-PAGE developed scrapped page by either (A) providing the page in its entirely completed format (minus your photographs, of course) or (B) provide all the materials (with a sample picture of what it would like it when finished ) for the person to complete after the cruise. :woohoo: You're not limited to ONE page, but you must have at least the one page to participate. It's strickly up to you how much you want to do. But if you're on a budget, these are the parameters.

How do I know what materials to use? 12x12 sheet of paper (either solid or designed), card stock, embellishments such as stickers, buttons, ribbon. Really, there are tons of ways to make a creative, fun page. I'll try and post links to samples so you can have a clearer view of what the finished product would look like.

How can this be achieved? …Each single scrapbook page will be divided by a category or event --more on this later-- and then you will sign up under a category/event you would want to scrap (from a list I will provide).

How many events/categories are there? Well, the possibilities are endless. However, it really depends on how many people want to get involved with the exchange. We, (myself, my daughter, and daughter-in-law) sat one night and brainstormed up to 21 different ideas.

How much will it cost me to do this exchange? That also really depends on how minimal or elaborate you want to get. Plus you have to remember you will have to recreate the scrapbook page for EVERY person who is participating in the exchange. I’d say roughly it could be about $25-$50 altogether and each contributor would get a page of each of the events/category. Wow!

How will I get the scrapbook pages to each of the people in the exchange? This is where I will ask for your opinion. Either we can have a meeting time (on the day at sea) and exchange with each other in person OR you could slide the page under each person’s stateroom door OR attach the page that would be secured in a sheet protector to the fish/fish extender outside the door.

Remember: We want to keep the pages as flat and clean as possible-clean as in no folds, crinkles, tears, or spots. :rolleyes1

You will need to PM (private message) me and let me know if you’re interested and provide me with the following information:

a. your email address
b. your username
c. your real name
d. which category/event you might like to scrap. Please choose your top five just in case there are others who might have also chosen the same category/event.
e. Your choice as to how to exchange the scrapbook pages.
f. Your cabin number, if known.

In the list that follows below are the categories/events my family came up with. If you see something I’ve forgotten, please also include that in the private message to me.

1. Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach/Port Canaveral with ship before cruise
2. Embarkation/Through the Ears/Ship model
3. Sail Away
4. Character Meet
5. Halloween/Costume Party
6. Pirate Night
7. Castaway Cay
8. Fun at Sea
9. Bahamas/Nausau (Port-of-Call)
10. Disembarkation/See You Real Soon
11. Food/Menus
12. Pool Time
13. Deck Pictures/Random pictures of the boat
14. Cast Meet and Greet
15. Stateroom inside/door/magnets/fish extenders
16. Character Breakfast
17. Formal (semi-formal) Night
18. Adventures that might have been left out
19. Excursions
20. Shows/Theatre
21. The opening page to the scrapbook cruise

When you PM me, please give me the name of the event/category.
One last thing and please include this in the PM also….would you want this exchange to be done anonymously or not.

Thanks! and Whew! I know this has been a long post, but I believe I covered most, if not all, of the questions.

Let me know. :flower3:

Thanks everyone for your well-wishes. I had a very nice day in spite of it being in the dead of winter. Weather here in St. Louis was in the 30's (not bad at all considering what we've been through this month LOL).

Had dinner with my hubby, daughter/boyfriend and their two sons. We ended up at Red Lobster, though that wasn't our intended place to go for the evening. :wizard: But since it was my birthday (I kidded my DH by telling him that it's become a national holiday..hehe) and that I had a yearning for fish, he made the decision to splurge a litte and knew where to take me for the festive event. So I had my favorite ...lobster, crab legs, and shrimp. Yum!!! When I mentioned fish, I had forgotten about Red Lobster. I figured I'd have some salmon or talapia at wherever we ended up. Love his choice better, though. :)

Our talk of course revolved around the cruise and discussion on Atlantis in Nausau. One would think we're going on the trip next week instead of in 9 months. But we are all very upbeat and excited over ALL the newbies that's coming aboard with us. :upsidedow We want them to have the best experience and so we are trying to cover all the angles (money, excursions, etc) and to plan for the trip...or at least have something in place...if only if it's on the planning stages at this point.

I have an awesome family. All my children called and/or texted and showed me how much they loved me. I am truly blessed. :grouphug:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!

Which Panama Canal cruise did you take? We loved ours!

I like the post-your-name idea too!

We went on the Celebrity Millenium 15-day transition cruise out of Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco in late April, 2008. It was our 35 wedding anniversary present to ourselves. Talk about an awesome cruise...it was unforgetable..something I'd want to do again if I can get the chance. My experience with Celebrity Cruise Lines is one of the best I've experienced..matches Disney. I like Disney for the family atmosphere and Disney everything. It would be a tough choice to say which is a better cruise line..imo.

Just so you know...it's Team Disney right now. Hugs!

Hi Everyone,

Below are links to several cruise scrapbooking layouts. Of course, please check out on the disboards in the Just for fun forum, "Creative ideas" threads here. There are a ton of great ideas and picures to help you with this exhange.

This first one tells you how to basically scrap a page with a visual.

The next one has a page full of various photos to look at.

May 10-25, 2008 Disney MAGIC -- Port Canaveral to Los Angeles. A US nuclear sub went through in the north locks as we did the south. Very impressive !

Hi Kathy,

We are Trisha and Kurt.

Hi Jaime,

Great to see you again. Many here are not doing the B to B so you'll still get to see most of your old friends as well as new ones.:goodvibes
A week in Arizonia sounds great. Warm sunshine!!

Cold here. Going to get colder next week too but at least it will be dry.

Later all,

Kathy

Hi everyone! Haven't been on here because I can't seem to find this thread regularly. Any hints?

We are getting more and more excited especially with all the recent PR the Dream has gotten.

I've gone on my precruise diet..have to lose >100lbs. Down 16 so far :goodvibes

Although only 4 of us are going on the cruise we have lots of family joining us in Disney after!

Please update me on how to do the FE? Thanks!

Send a Private Message to woogal (Shell) and give her your information for the cruis emates list and tell her you want to do the FE. She will add you to the list and will send you out a copy when she gets it done.
Everyone on the list will get a copy of it.
send her your posting name, real name, cabin number, dining time, city and state your from, hopefully a photo, how many cruises you've been on, any special occassions your celebrating on board etc.. Plus your e-mail since she will e-mail the list to you. It will NEVER be posted on this board since it is public.

Kathy

I can send her an email but I think I already have. Can Shell confirm this for me please.

Thanks!

For finding the thread easily, click on USER CP at the top of the top in the red bar on the left, it will take to all the threads you have posted to or subscribe to that have new posts.

The Cruisemate List is finally being worked on!!! Sorry for taking so long ... will be a couple of days because I'm SOOOO behind! Will let you know once it gets emailed out ...

FYI about the FE's ... a few years ago, we made a group decision that the FE gifts were best experienced with those that participate on this DIS board. The reasons were economics, space and weight of luggage, plus the fact that giving FEs was something that we wanted to limit to the people we "know." We actually had I think one person that was traveling with about 20 family members in several cabins that wanted all to be included, and it just became difficult to manage. We've also had people pop in once 6 months prior to departure, never again, then the week before pop in and say "Don't forget me on the FE's" (e.g. buy me stuff lol). Hope you all understand that.

So ... if you have friends or family traveling with you that also want to participate, please have them get onboard here and we can add them to the list!

Wow Terry! Pretty neat. I really like this idea. I never created a real scrapbook before but one of the families that are travelling with us is always making them. I'm going to talk to her to find out how hard it would be for me to create a page and I'll get back to you:goodvibes

Terry, I love the Scrap-booking exchange, but I gave up paper about two years ago, and as a good enabler gave all my tools and supplies to a dear friend, her husband loves me, lol. She now has a scrap-booking nook where his bar used to be.

I will be doing digital quick-pages that I will be able to work on quickly on the ship, if anyone is a digital scraper and wants to swap, please let me know.
