someone just posted that they are no longer staggering dinner - the times are 5:45 and 8:15 :thumbsup2

So I am making progress with the planning:

We have booked Animal Kingdom Lodge for two nights, arriving on 10/28. I called DCL to have the ground transfer changed from "airport to port" to "resort to port". Trying to keep expenses down, so we booked just a standard room. I think we will likely do just one park, MK, on 10/29 and do Downtown Disney or hang at the resort pool on our day of arrival if warm out.

I also found a good fare (at least good for us) with JetBlue for the flight down. Their November flight schedule is not up yet, so I booked just the one way fare for now at $398.00 total for all four of us. I'm hoping I will get the same fare or close to it for the return flight, keeping our airfare at about $800 total for roundtrip. That is about the cheapest we have ever flown from New York to MCO during October (our usual vacation month).

We usually do Southwest, but we really wanted the convenience of on board check in and to not have to deal with our own luggage getting off the ship. Plus, we do like that we can choose our seats in advance of the flight. Two rows, back of the plane, near the bathrooms because we know our kids will be up and down more than once!

Now to tell the kids, or not tell the kids, that is the question.....

I'm still holding out on telling my kids. DH almost blew it the other night. DS12 was sitting at the kitchen table doing his homework. DH was sitting there with a Calendar and his Vacatin Request form from work. He asked me what dates we will be gone for and had the Calendar open to OCTOBER 2010. :scared1: I was ready to SCREAM at him. I was standing behind DS and making faces at DH trying to indicate we COULD NOT DO THAT RIGHT THEN, and pointing frantically at DS. :dance3: (see the plan is to tell the kids via a treasure hunt the day bofore or the day we LEAVE for the trip).
DS12 never clued in, at least he hasn't Said anything yet.

Great prices on the JET BLUE one way BTW! Hopefully the return cost will be similar if not less!

:lovestrucWondering if dates for 2010 came out yet. Hoping to get friday party before cruise to do a little WDW before cruise. Thanks

Our first DCL cruise was a gift to our daughter for her first communion. So, I booked it more than a year ahead of time, but did not tell her until the May before our October 2009 trip. I have also previously surprised her with a trip to WDW...we picked her up at school and went straight to the airport (she was shocked, it was great!). I think I will tell them about this cruise ahead of time, but probably not until the summer.

This is terrible, but we told my MIL about the last cruise and she booked herself on it without even asking us first. Now, I love my MIL lots, but we really wanted to be alone this time. So, we don't want anyone to know too soon. And my kids would totally spill the beans.

Regarding MNSSHP, I don't think we will fit this in this time. The dates haven't been released yet, but I don't think I want to foot the extra expense.....I would rather have those funds for the cruise. I looked at last year's schedule. They always have one on October 31st (which is a Sunday this year), so would they also do the prior Friday and Saturday night? I was hoping it would be on 10/28 and 10/30 and not on 10/29 (we want to do MK and I was hoping to avoid evening crowds or an early park closing!)

I so know the feeling! Last October our next door neighbors decided to book the same sailing as us because we told them about our plans and have raved so much about DCL over other cruiselines. I guess it says alot that the in-laws/neighbors want to travel with us, we must be fun. We have put the kids on notice to not share our dates with anyone so we dont have unexpected company again.
:scared1:

You guys need to discuss who will be in charge of the TOT or if you are going to cancel it.......

Is anyone doing the "Disney Give A Day Get A Day" Volunteer Event? For volunteering at one of the designated charity's, you get a voucher for one park pass for every member of your family that also participates. Opportunities are available for ages 6 and up!
I just sent in my request to volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society here in Ottawa (that opportunity just was posted today in the list of participating charities for our area). All 4 of us will volunteer to sell Daffodils this spring, and then we'll be able to spend a day at ONE park before our Cruise!!! Now, to decide which park,,,hmmmmmm

I was looking into the volunteer opportunities yesterday, but so far I can't find something that would fit into my work schedule or something on the weekend that would allow me to take DD with me. I keeping checking for updates to the list.

Yes. My wife, me, and my son are participating by making blankets for the linus project. B/c of the GAD event we are going to spend at least one more day at Mk since our son has never been to Disney. If we go to MNSSHP, then on the 2nd day at the park on our trip go to AK.

NENNER......Could you possibily send me an address to mail you the TOT stuff to.
Or Ls jones either one i dont care........

I am going to turn off my link to this thread .......... I wish i could stick around but i cant do it.
Makes me too sad and i dont deal well with sadness........so i am off to find a REALLY CHEAP CRUISE TO DREAM ABOUT!!!

Maybe we will be able to join you down the road but i doubt it.
This loss of my DH job has given us a little bit different out look on how we will spend our money from here on.

Although we lOVE our disney cruise..... we can take the same cruise same ports or even differnt ports for A LOT LESS MONEY and at the same time get a different experience MAYBE NOT BETTER just different on a different cruise line.

YOU GUYS HAVE A BLAST!!!!!!!!
DOnt forget your Pixie dust and your ginger snaps and say HELLO TO MICKEY FOR US!!!!!!!

WE may be doing the $99 deal for 4 days which it is about time they came out with that to counter what Universal has had for awhile now. This may be our spring break so if anyone is going to be there look us up!!

TTFN and SEE YOU REAL SOON!!!!!!

Welcome!!! :yay:

I was just looking up our cruise and it did not come up when listing two adults and two kids, but did show up when I eliminated the kids and just put in two adults only. This leads me to believe they have reached their maximum capacity for the kids clubs!

I think this also means that my chances of having my wait list granted for main dining is much less likely. And I booked this cruise over a year ago! I am happy to see that it is a popular sailing. It may be more crowded, but I think it also means it will likely be more fun.

I think there is a good portion of us on second dining. So more chances for all of us to mingle and meet! :cool2:
