Ilove photos......

Your DD is sooo cute,

I love formalnight too, i cant imagine how many suit cases i would have to take on a 15day

Wow, miss a couple of days due to the holiday and a slight brush with bronchitis and you guys left me with a lot of catching up to do. Looks like all questions were answered, so I'll just pipe in with what we did.

This will only be our second western, but the last time we went, we did excursions on our own. On Key West, we just did the Old Town Trolley, sight seeing on our own. Captain Marvin on Grand Cayman for swimming with the stingrays and at Cozumel, we grab a cab and went to Mr.Sanchos and spent the day at the beach.

For formal night, we didn't mind dressing up, since we don't often get to do so. Every day is casual day at work, so dressing up is a treat. I know some people don't like to, because if they dress that way every day normally, it doesn't seem as much like a vacation for them. This was us in Lumiere's for formal night:

As far as Palo goes, ditto on brunch. My problem always is how many crab legs can I eat and leave room for the entree and dessert. :rotfl2:

I love seeing all the photos, Jeff and Sandy your families are gorgeous too! :goodvibes It makes me realize how much we miss DCL!!!

I've been doing a lot of work for our Food & Wine trip...got a planning spreadsheet done on that yesterday. According to it I will be eating 35 food items and 4 drinks from 24 countries for a grand total of $178.45:scared1:

(And that's just the items *I* plan to have):rotfl:

Also been working on planning our RCCL cruise which is coming up quick. Has anyone ever been to San Juan? I think we will just do our own walking tour of the old town and forts but if anyone knows of great places to see, shop and eat let me know! :)

Thanks for the compliment. Btw, if you guys look close enough, you might see the Mickey heads in my bow tie and cumberbund :goodvibes

We have been to San Juan with Carnival and did the Old Town Walking Tour through the cruise excursions. It was a nice way to see a place we'd never been to before.

Thank you. We miss DCL a lot too.

We went to San Juan in 2004 on our second DCL Eastern. That year there were 3 special Eastern itineraries during August and early September. Basically the Magic went somewhere else instead of St. Maarten. We went to Puerto Rico, the other two went to another new destination. I think one was Antigua, I can't remember the other.

Anyway, Sarah was only 6 months at the time so we decided on a "day at the beach" excursion at the San Juan Marriott. It was a lot of fun, the resort is very nice, it is right on the beach so you can swim at the pool, in the ocean or hang out at the outdoor bar.

Another thing that sticks out in my mind about that cruise is Hurricane Frances. We saw a hurricane on the weather map posted next to Guest Services on deck 3, but didn't think much of it. I am not that familiar with longitude and latitude so I wasn't sure where the hurricane was in relation to the ship.

Turns out the next cruise (Western) was delayed 3 days since Port Canaveral took a direct hit. The Magic parked in Galveston, TX before eventually going back to Fort Lauderdale. We always thought it was cool that the cruise after ours got to sail 10 days for the price of 7, but then again there were flights that had to be changed. Some people got off in Galveston.

All these great pictures. What great looking families you are. Your children are all gorgeous. Thank for sharing.:goodvibes

I attempted to book passage on one of the Alaskan cruises yesterday. It was DH birthday and I wanted to surprise him. There was a surprise alright when the DCL agent told me that to book they needed a $1200.00 deposit for the two of us in the cheapest cabin they offer:faint:.. I’m afraid that the Wonder will be sailing without us.

I was a little surprised with that too. I talk to my travel agent on a regular basis, sometimes just call her up to chat.

We had no plan to book Alaska because we wanted to do southbound not a round-trip, but out of curiosity I asked. The $600 per person regular stateroom and $800 pp for a suite was more extreme than usual.

Early on I believe it was a 50% deposit, but as I said we weren't interested so I am not sure how long that lasted or when it ended.

Got lots of pics put up on that TR but anywho - the suggestion about dressing up for DCL formal night sounds good.......considering I didn't bring any pants for the ABD Mayflower hotel part of this trip:eek:.

ok ok ok...lessons learned as i was rreeaallyy trying to stay with only 1 suitcase. ;)

I am going to chekc out your trip report before goign to work on our costumes .

We leave soon, and i have so much to do.

I have to get all the food ready for 12 people.
All our costumes.

Trying to make it a very relaxing time for eeveryone else is driving me insane.

Thanks, Lynn. Getting sick was a blessing in disguise, since the fast is easy when you have no appetite :lmao:

Do you guys realize that as of today, we are 13 months away? :cool1:We just got our cruise docks for our QM2 cruise in two months. I'm so excited. Three formal nights and I'm still debating whether to buy a new tux or just wear a suit. The tux in the picture I posted above is now about three sizes too big on me.

Cool, this is part of our plan! :goodvibes

Found a reference to the 2004 Special Easterns; twice to San Juan, once to Antigua. We were on the August 21st sailing.

Wow thanks for the info...that is really interesting! I did not know DCL had ever been to PR. I love the alternative itineraries..hope to see much more of that once the Dream and Fantasy are in service!

I don't think we will have enough time in port to check out the hotel but it does sound lovely! I am a pool person myself too ;) I am actualy pretty disappointed we will only be in PR from 8 am to 2 PM. Oh well, I am sure we'll figure out a way to make the best of it! :goodvibes

We'll see you on the Haloween cruise next year! We're booked on htat one too with a group of colleagues from work!

:goodvibesThat's this one!:dance3:

I just bought a bunch of dresses for formal/semi formal nights for me and the girls the other day. They are for the RCCL cruise which comes first but maybe they will still fit for this cruise. :rolleyes1 I got them at Macy's and then saw some great coupons in todays ad but when I checked online I saw that some of the dresses prices had gone up so I was glad to have gotten them on sale. We are still waiting on one for Savannah to go on sale...:thumbsup2

The boys haven't bought anything yet. Usually they just go shirt and tie for formal night but are considering getting jackets. (LOL yes we don't own jackets, down here you can eat in even the nicest restaurants in business casual wear:rotfl2:) So we'll see...I'll leave it up to them. I will say in 3 DCL cruises they have never felt out of place in shirt/tie for formal nights. :goodvibes

There was a price drop of sorts on RCCL today...something we are not used to having cruised only DCL before! ;) We are trying to decide what to do...go GTY and save $600 or stay in our chosen room and not risk ending up all the way forward. :confused3
