Wow..that looks cool! :cutie:

I'll have to make up an alternate with different coloring on the fonts (white instead of black) so we could put it on a black or dark shirt if any of us were so inclined to. I'll get to work on that!

On my last cruise some folks were able to order from Cafe Press and some were not.....there was even a thong with our logo on it !:rotfl2: Not sure if anyone actually bought one of those! But yeah we did have some troubles with the copyright thing and our logo was a fairly well disguised Mickey Head.

We don't usually do the t-shirts but I like how it looks so we might just have to this time!

Ah....talked with one fellow ABDer this past week while on vacation & it sure was fun listening to him tell about tales of fixin the Tower of Terror & whatever else on his nightly WDW repair sheet :thumbsup2 -

Happy early early early Halloween everyone:woohoo:.

ok ok ok....so I am a "little early" :lmao:

that's what I get for listening to the "Monster Mash" this am on the radio ;).

I have a question for those of you who fly in and go directly to the port (we aren't planning on coming in early as there shouldn't be any weather problems and we always leave at 6:00 am anyhow).

Thanks!

I think i would be tooo worried to come in the same day....
I guess if i had to, i would say use the most reliable:confused3

DH and I are trying to decide between Disney transfers and hiring a car. I'm leaning toward the car because while it may end up costing a bit more (with tips), we don't have to try to get on a bus with ALL the other people at the same time, a car will be there specifically for US! When we did our Carnival cruise way back when, I HATED waiting for a bus to get us from the port to the airport. AND, we sat at the airport for HOURS waiting for a bus to take us to the port when we got there. So, what have your experiences been?

He's concerned about dealing with our luggage, etc., I don't think it will be a big deal. So...I'd like to hear what others who fly in think.

Thanks!

Weather isn't the only thing that can creat issues. If there is a security threat an airport can be closed down for hours. If you have a lay over it can be delayed. What about issues with a car just getting to the airport.

I guess I am just chicken and I will not fly in the day of ever again. Just too stressful for my taste. I hope you can find someone to tell you want may work best the day of. I prefer to use DCL transfers because if something goes wrong like traffic the ship will wait but if I drive myself and get lost or caught in traffic I will be left behind. Lois

ITA, there are too many things that could go wrong. We always plan our land portion first and then the cruise so we are already in FL the day of the cruise.

Time is *really* flying!! I can NOT believe it is October already...we will all be on the Magic before we know it!!!

Well, we don't fly in ;) , and in fact in the past we have driven to the port on the day of the cruise since it is only about 2 hours from our home.

However we have come to the agreement that we will not be doing that anymore. Even with our close proximity we are too afraid something would happen out on the road or whatever to prevent us from getting to the boat on time. But really the main reason we have decided to start going the day before (besides extending our vacation) is simply because we are always exhausted the first night and look forward to a full nights sleep and a lazy leisurely morning the day of the cruise. Of course we are among the early birds who love to be at the port ASAP...we got there late last year- 10:15!

Anyway as far as your car/vs Disney Bus delimma...I know personally we LOVE having our car there so we can arrive when we want (and more importantly-LEAVE when we want) The Disney transfers are really expensive too..like you said. The pros for the Disney bus is to watch the video on the way to the port and the excited atmosphere. But I can't think of a pro for the bus after the cruise unless you are going to WDW afterwards. So my vote would be go for the Town Car! :thumbsup2

A couple of you who know me from my TR's and other meet threads probably know that I have horrible luck with our computers. We have two laptops and one or the other or both has been sent in for service no less than 10 times this year (and one has been replaced TWICE) So once again we are down to one laptop. The one that has gone in is "mine" (the one I do all my spreadsheets, magnets, etc.) on...and sadly it was not backed up before we had to take it in. I don't expect to lose any data (it is a charger port issue) but I can't work on the logo graphic or anything else like that (It is *really* killing me to not have my RCCL spreadsheets at my fingertips) for a few weeks. Just thought I'd let you all know!

Happy Monday!

I love seeing all the photos, Jeff and Sandy your families are gorgeous too! :goodvibes It makes me realize how much we miss DCL!!!

I've been doing a lot of work for our Food & Wine trip...got a planning spreadsheet done on that yesterday. According to it I will be eating 35 food items and 4 drinks from 24 countries for a grand total of $178.45:scared1:

(And that's just the items *I* plan to have):rotfl:

Also been working on planning our RCCL cruise which is coming up quick. Has anyone ever been to San Juan? I think we will just do our own walking tour of the old town and forts but if anyone knows of great places to see, shop and eat let me know! :)

We (me, dh, dd14 and dd12) just went to San Juan with Royal Caribbean/Explorer of the Seas out of NJ in August .... the views from the Fort in San Juan are GORGEOUS!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! We did a little street shopping, walked to the fort and went to Senor Frogs for dinner ... AWESOME TIME!!!!! We didn't have much time there as our cruise was re-routed because of hurricane bill ... we got there later in the day so that's all we did. Didn't matter, we had a BLAST!!! (If you want pics pm me and I'll e-mail you my album I have on kodak gallery.)

I fly too, but in this day and age I’d be too chicken to chance flying on the same day as the cruise. Last time we sailed with DCL we came in the night before and stayed at the airport Hyatt. It was great. We got a good night’s sleep and the next morning Disney took our luggage from our room to our stateroom. We took the Disney bus that Disney provided for Hyatt guests to the port. It worked out well for us. I can honestly say that we’ve never had to wait for more than ten minutes for a bus to go to or from the port. A town car does sound nice though. You’d have total control of your coming and going.. However you get to port, I recommend that you consider flying the day before. :)

If you MUST fly in the same day, then I agree that car service is better than a bus, no waiting and no fighting the crowds. However, i would like to pipe in with others that have said you should try to avoid flying in the same day. Depending on out of where you are flying, the end of October can start introducing unpredictable weather, plus you're still in Hurricane season. There are also the other unexpected delays that just cause uneccesary stress.

I speak from personal experience. We used to take the auto train from Lorton, VA and in 2001, had to take it the Friday of Thanksgiving, so that we could spend Thanksgiving with the family. Leaving Friday put us in Sanford FL Saturday morning. Problem was that the train was delayed for four hours during the night and then had to wait for a new crew in Jacksonville because they went beyond the hours allowed for a particular crew to work. We didn't get to Sanford until around 1:00pm and by the time our car came off, it was almost 2:00pm. It was the only time my wife didn't say boo about my speed driving to the airport. We got to the ship at 3:00 and this was the days before you could register for Palo and the spa online and we were just happy to get anything. It took us a while to wind down and get rid of the stress.

Welcome aboard and may I say that I'm very jealous that you just came OFF a Disney Cruise.

Plans are starting to take shape, so keep an eye out.

Thanks everyone for your input. Maybe I am naive, but I wouldn't have even thought of so many delays! I hate to have my kid miss *another* day of school, so maybe we'll fly down later Friday afternoon, get a car to a hotel near the port, and then get to the port by cab or shuttle. We are not planning any land trip this time, because as it is she's missing 5 days of school.

It would be neat to get to Titusville though, I used to live there as a kid...

Thanks again!

You could consider staying at the MCO Hyatt. The luggage will be picked up at your room then you and your carry on check in with DCL in the hotel lobby. Once they begin to load the busses you walk as a group get on the bus and ride to the port. There is a cute vidio about what to expect once at the port and onboard the ship.

I suggest this as I have never wanted to fly and then drive late at night. If you do stay at the Hyatt or at the port DO NOT put the DCL tags on you luggage.

Whatever you decide I am sure it will work well for you and your family. Lois

Welcome. We have a good group. We have discussed T-shirts and lanyards, but no fish extenders. There was also some discussion on having our own Trick o' Treating, but nothing firm.

What was the current promotion onboard?

We rented a car the day before the cruise and toured the local area. We also saved a lot of packing by doing last minute shopping in the Port Canaveral area. There is a Greatland Target and a Wal * Mart. At the time Sarah was still on formula and diapers so it was nice to go shopping the day before and not have to bring all that stuff on the plane.

I spend way too much time researching logistics, but the planning worked out very well for us.

1. I chose a car rental company that had a location at Orlando airport and PC.
2. I selected one of those (Avis) that didn't charge a fee for picking up a car in one location and dropping it off in another.
3. I picked a hotel that was close to the port and walking distance to the rental car location (important).

The morning of the cruise I drove to the rental car company when it first opened and wasn't busy, dropped off the car, and walked back. After breakfast we took the resort shuttle to the port.

Some folks use the car to drop off the family at the port, and then double-back to drop off the car. There are many problems with that including separating yourself from your family when you don't have to and dropping off the car in the 10 o'clock hour when the rental car company is much busier instead of first thing in the morning. Also, you have to wait in line to take a shuttle back to the port from the rental car center.

We stayed at the Radisson which is 5 minutes from PC, the shuttle service was free,

I hope this helps,

~Jeff

Thank you Jeff, that was just the info I was looking for. Of course I'll research it 54 ways to Sunday, especially which is the cheapest way.

I appreciate it!

:welcome: Lexicon Joe and family!

We don't have anyone in charge of FE yet, but for sure that is something we will be doing! :thumbsup2

This last cruise we did bracelets and not laynards, if anyone might want to look at them.

Onboard- 10% discount and $200.00 onboard credit at least for booking 7day

Wow..that looks cool! :cutie:

I'll have to make up an alternate with different coloring on the fonts (white instead of black) so we could put it on a black or dark shirt if any of us were so inclined to. I'll get to work on that!

On my last cruise some folks were able to order from Cafe Press and some were not.....there was even a thong with our logo on it !:rotfl2: Not sure if anyone actually bought one of those! But yeah we did have some troubles with the copyright thing and our logo was a fairly well disguised Mickey Head.

Love it!!! I haven't checked in in a while, so it was really neat to see this graphic! I'm think I'm going into cruise withdrawl! I need my fix!

My dd has been asking if there is a Kids Meet thread started for our group yet, for the kids to get to know each other online, does anyone know if someone started one, or is anyone else interested?

I see there is no one in charge of the FE yet...I'll volunteer! Not sure who picks the leader, but I'd be glad to take it or help whomever does.

I'm ready to get the party started!!!

I don't know that anyone picks a leader. It has always been someone just steps up and takes the lead and the rest of us just step in line and follow.

So you now have the lead and I will be happy to follow you to where ever you decide to start this party. I doubt anyone would complain if you take charge of the FE Planning. Lois
