I'm not trying to be a Negative Nancy-LOL- just a caution that it is very possible that with so many of us we may overwhelm them. I tend to go into situations like this expecting the worst so that we might be pleasantly surprised. I just wouldn't want any of our group to have a bad experience and be disappointed.

Mom always said, make your own fun! :rotfl2:

Sounds like that is going to be an awesome day at the beach. I was tempted to join you all but the Cozumel Mayan Ruines won out! I will see all my DIS Friends at Capt Marvin's. Getting so excited!!! I can book Palo and Spa treatments next week-end!!!

I miss the "romantic escape at sea" which used to let me book early :(
C'mon August 1! :surfweb:

Just spoke to the folks at Old Town Trolley. The trolley loops Key West making 12 stops. The tour is usually an hour or so, but you can buy a ticket that allows you on and off privileges basically amounting to a public transportation "day pass" so if you want to tour Key West at your leisure using the trolley seems to be a great way to get around.

The ticket booth is at Mallory Square (Pier B) right next to where the Magic docks so I expect a mass of humanity trying to get tickets during disembarkation so we will buy ours online. They are discounted slightly online so there's an additional benefit.

I was watching local news and there was a story on the increase in prices of passports. In the story, they mentioned that passports are required for cruise as well now. I thought on the "close loop" you only need a Birth Cert. I went to the http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html and it (like all government things not so specific) only shows that you would need one. Disney's site only shows a Passport. Any Idea?

Prices go up on the 13th. Just happened to find out about it because DH was on vacation last week and I wanted to do ours then. I don't want to take any chances of having to possibly fly home. I don't know if the rules are changing though.

Yes, you are correct about "closed loop". You don't need a passport, but in the case of an emergency and you have to fly back to the states (in our case) from Mexico, Grand Cayman, or Bahamas you would be SOL so I would get one, but that's is one man's opinion.

Thanks for the information! We're planning to buy our tickets online too. Figured we save about $9 plus will have it paid ahead of time! I looked at the FantasyFest link that MJ had posted and it seems like lots of "frivolity" going on all week especially the day before we get there. I noticed that on Sunday there is a kids event at a local park so we might stop by that if time permits. We're looking forward to searching for Cuba at the southernmost point, strolling by Truman's home away from home, and contemplating all things Hemingway and Buffet as we traipse around the town. Other than that we want to try out the key lime goodies and maybe buy some funky t-shirts and sandals. Should be plenty to do on Halloween! I can't wait as we've never been there.

One more add on as after posting this I looked at the trolley stops again: my husband is an avid birder and I noticed there is a trolley stop at the Audubon House. No doubt, I'll have to pry Steve out of there if our family hopes to see anything else that day!

HEY Guys.........

Hows it going????

Well we leave in 10 days for our 5night cruise.

But had a question wanted to see if any of you guys know.....
Cuz my cruise thread is soooooo dead cant get any information.

SOO i am wondering if any of you know, anything about the conch trolly tour in Key West....is this a group thing or a self guided tour can you get on and off during the excursion or have to stay on and just look form the trolley.

Thanks

Lynn

Hey all! Schimj and I have been working on the FE gifts on and off for the last week - making lots of progress. Of course we picked something labor intensive and there are quite a few of us :yay: signed up... so we still have a ways to go - but it definitely helps build the excitement! :)

We're doing the Old Town Trolley in KW too. Can't beat the on & off deal. :thumbsup2

We spent this afternoon in the pool discussing our cruise plans. All our ducks appear to be in a row! Speaking of DUCK one of the missing links I have been trying to research is the Villains night...show menu and BALL. I didn't know there is a Villains Ball in the Atrium after dinner that night. Should be a great character meeting opportunity. Haven't found too much info on the menu yet but I have some friends on the WBTA that will get a copy of it to me if we don't find it before Sept. Also searching out Navigators. Haven't found any later than 3/6/10. Will be interesting to see what changes (if anything) when the Magic returns to this side of the pond.

Jonathan, like Jeff said you are fine with your BC's as we are a closed-loop cruise. In my best Jim Carrey Dumb & Dumber Limo Driver Voice: "It's OK! I am a Trained Passport Clerk!" :rotfl: LOL. The new changes are only to the fee schedule. We use BC's too (all of us but me, I have the Passport Card).

Hi Lynn! So exciting you only have 10 days to go!!!

The Old Town Trolley is the one where you can get on & off. We were just talking about that. The Conch Train is the one where you can only get off and back on at one stop. They cost about the same $29/$26 in advance online so IMO the Old Town Trolley is the way to go so you can get off and do stuff and then get back on! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your cruise!!! :goodvibes

I have been looking at that too and discovered that the last trolley returns by 5:30PM. I have late dining so I may just walk it and save the money. Can't decide.

Is this the Trolley excursion through DCL or should i purchase it online.

Thanks
Appreciate your help.

ALSO NENNER i have gotten as far as getting all the halloween stuff in a box and it is setting by my door to be taken to UPS.

I knew i would get to it when i had to empty my suitcase for this trip....It will most likely go out MONDAY.

Is there a special way you would like it mailed...Or any special instructions?

The Trolley is not offered by DCL. It would be best to buy the eTicket. The OTT ticket booth is by the pier, but I am guessing the line will be long so buying ahead of time makes a lot sense.

Embarkation is 7:30 PM so you may not want to walk around too much later.

Oh that's great! Thank you so much, I know everyone will appreciate it!! :)

Nope, no special instructions. We'll be here! LOL! :goodvibes

Thanks Pudo and Nenner. Now, I can focus again on the tough decisions of Margarettas or Peach Sangria! (yum)pirate:
