My daughter is in her third year at American University and baby sits an autistic child in DC. She has been so affected by her relationship with him, that is has set her career path. She is a psych major and she plans to specialize in this area. She is pursuing some clinical opportunities and is now beginning to research graduate options. She was looking at Georgetown, but they only accept four students a year to their program. She may end up staying at AU and going for her SciD.

What a great field to go into. I have found that those who do go into this field are truly exceptional individuals. It takes a kind heart. It sounds like your daughter has found her calling. I've been told that it is a very rewarding field to go in to. I wish her all of the luck in the world!

By the way, here are my boys on the teacup ride last month. OMG! I just googled section 8 and it's a military term that means discharge due to mental illness. Note to self. DS needs to watch less documentaries. That must be where he heard it from.

The boys are so cute!! Too funny about the section 8!!

I just wanted to add that several of our family's babysitters have gone on to college and persued a special ed or speech therapy degree- it's a very nice thing. Our first sitter ( and she was in high school then), Alexis, teaches at a nearby school for autistic children, and tutors Sean 3 days a week after school. Can't imagine life without her!

I know I'm biased, but I do think she's an exceptional person. You can hear it in her voice, when she talks about her classes and her work with the child she watches. We're crossing our fingers, since she had a discussion with her professor about grad opportunities and he asked her if she considered AU, because, in his words, she "would be an excellent asset to the program".

Having worked in the DD (developmental Disabilty) field now for 15 years I can say we are not the exceptional ones. It is the people that we serve and their families. I love every moment I get to spend with them. Now all the paperwork is another thing but it must be done. Lois

We just booked last week for this cruise. It will be our 2nd Disney cruise, and our first western. Taking our two kids. They will be so excited. Me, my wife, son and daughter. Should be lots of fun.

Hi everyone...DP and I just booked our second disney cruise, same cabin as the last time. Really looking forward to the western since we did the eastern on the last cruise. Just can't believe we have to wait so long. But we have another trip to WDW this June and planning on Disneyland Paris next spring to get our Disney fixes.

Had a thought that we could add our favorite disney character to the roll call...give people ideas for the fish extenders. Fun for the kids ( even the big kids) to be surprised at having their favorite character show up in their FE.

That's the OCD in me.....

We go to flea markets a lot and they always have disney things in the dollar bins....so we pick up an item or 2 each time we go....less of a $$ impact to try and gather up things right before the cruise.

you never know! i was surprised on our cruise last year when my favorite, Jiminy Cricket, showed up!!! you have to believe in the magic of disney!

Hi everybody!! Okay I give up!!!! I have tried and tried to make a new ticker and it SIMPLY WON'T WORK! If you look at the bottom of this page, you see what it does! I have tried a million different ways and times and all I get is the mumbo jumbo you see below. I have cut and paste, cut and paste until my eyes are about to fall out! I am obviously NOT computer savvy, so could someone please take pity on me and tell me what I am doing wrong! I have no idea how I made the first one work for our Christmas Cruise 12/08 (I didn't make one for our very 1st cruise in 3/07), but I don't remember it being this difficult.

I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank You!

Looks like you may have chosen the wrong text. I modified your ticker that showed up in your post ...Copy this and paste into your signature,,,then do a preview and see if it works.

If it does, you you will know what to look for when you create other tickers. For some reason they always add too much to them and they won't work. hope it works
