We are on the south shore of Long Island and are generally the first to lose services when this kind of weather hits. I always keep the house stocked with flashlights, batteries, candles & matches!

I don't think I could find one of those items in my house!

Hi guys! :)

We are back from the MK...it was quite busy there yesterday. Way busier than we are used to! The crowd calendar said it was a "7" but I think it was probably more like an "8". We got there right after rope drop, and by the time we got back to Dumbo it was already a 30 minute wait. Standby on Space Mountain was 140 minutes by early afternoon (2 hrs 20 minutes!?!?!)..so glad that was the first fastpass we got. In fact many rides went 101 yesterday, we saw the Haunted Mansion, the Speedway, Space Mountain, the TTA all down. We happened upon Space right as it was opening back up after a 101 so I decided to run in on standby.....big mistake. Even with the crowds though we got to do most everything with the exception of HM which had bad lines all day (45 minutes!) when it wasn't down. But I figure we'll do that for MNSSHP in Oct anyway.

The kids had a great time though! Sarah was so cute trying to grab things in Philharmagic and in a trance in IASW (but aren't we all? LOL!)

It's very exciting to think next time we will be at MK will be right before the cruise!!!

Were you able to get her hair cut? (was that going to be this visit?).

podsnel: Those are exactly the same sort of problems I have been having over the years. I think my time as the troop cookie manager has drawn to a close.

Kris: I have not yet been to Serenity Bay and I am really hoping I get the chance this time. Oh, and we are hoping to make it to the Meet and Greet, so please sign us up. My only concern was that we are using DCL transport from WDW and last time we did this, we did not get on the ship until well after 1:00 p.m. I especially want to go because I am hoping my daughter will get the chance to meet a few of the DISer's kids so she could start making some new friends early.

Judy: Did your cousin go to Sandals Emerald Bay? I've been getting emails about it (we went to Sandals Royal Bahamiam a few years ago) and it looks beautful.

The Nor'easter that swept through here really got us good. We have been without electric, heat or hot water since 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. We "camped out" at home for the last two nights, but I think we are going to my mother's house this afternoon until power is restored. I had to toss all the food in the fridge (thankfully, I hadn't gone food shopping yet!) and the kids have been sleeping on the floor in our room because their bedrooms upstairs are extremely dark.

So far, March has not been a good month. Cannot wait for October! :goodvibes

Serenity bay is just wonderful as I love just lazily lounging around in an innertube while floating in & around the lagoon area while wearing flippers and using them as a navigational tool :cloud9:.

And yes, I plan on departing either POFQ, Contempry or GF (depending on my Adr's) around 11am ish so I should be arriving at the port around 12:30pm - with a Dr Pepper in my hand as I will be running on 2 to 3 hrs sleep from the night before....with many a fun story about my very first experience at MNSSHPpopcorn::.
Feel free to come on out to the Meet & Greet as I feel it will be fun:goodvibes.

Thought I'd share this with all of you ( I thought it good to share with ALL my kids). This was given to my Europe bound son and his class by his teacher prior to leaving for the trip.

11. Thou shalt always be on time for planes, buses, boats, and trains, for they will not wait for thou.

Lynn, I think of you often (and I've never actually met you). How is job hunting going for your DH? My Uncle was let go from his work a few months ago. He's in his late 50's and is thinking he has been forced into early retirement. He hates it. But it's a small town they are in, so not much choice for him otherwise. Hope you are all well! :)

Hi, just checking in again...I tend to forget about this thread so I had a few pages to read.

JKS, sorry to hear about the trouble with the GS cookies this year. I am doing cookie mom this year too, besides be co-leader, since no one else wanted to do it. I have been in GS all my life but just started with leader and cookies, 2nd year Daisys so this was our first time selling. I am lucky that we have a really good troop, no problems so far and I know all the my moms pretty well except one of them. I haven't minded doing cookies but again, i guess I am lucky there have been no big problems.

We haven't gotten any mail about the crusie you guys were all talking about-has everyone here received something?

We are going to get the kids passports done today-yay!

Good to hear from you again. I find that life gets in the way of many of the things I want to complete.

Good to hear from you. I have not yet recieved anything from Disney. However I have a TA and she may have it. Since we are driving there really isn't anything I really need before we arrive at the port.

Hope this finds everyone well. Lois

No Pie for you!! I ate enough for both of us!! I have decided that I want peanut butter pie as part of my last meal . . . :thumbsup2

OMG..chocolate peanut butter pie from Animator's Palate, anyone.... <drool>

So sad that is gone. I actually tried to dig up a recipe that resembled it and made it for Christmas. It was good, but it was lacking something. I think it was the cruise ship I was used to being served it on..LOL! ;)

Were you able to get her hair cut? (was that going to be this visit?).

Yep, we were planning on doing it. :upsidedow for a variety of reasons we didn't. Mostly because she ended up falling asleep from about noonish-4 PM. We took advantage of that time to do our child swap on the mountains, and then it was too late. :sad1: I think I will have to cut her hair before we go back in Oct. (but maybe not). We may try to do it when we arrive for MNSSHP (we can get in at 4 and the MSBS is open until 5). It could still be her first *real* haircut though!

OF course I :love:Main Street Electrical Parade so if it does not stick around after Summer Nightastic we may have to go again this summer. :rolleyes1

Love it! Thanks for sharing! :) I swear this time I will obey the one half the clothes rule. We brought back a full suitcase of clean clothes from Independence (and no we didn't do any laundry! ;))

Currently now on Day 3 of no electric, heat, hot water or telephone. I had to temporarily go to my Mom's house since "camping out" at home was no longer fun after the second night! We actually looked into checking in to a hotel, but it seems because there are thousands of people without service, the prices have increased dramatically. Seriously, they are charging more per night than a stay at WDW's Caribbean Beach!

I'm hoping we can go back home today, but the electric company is not being very encouraging.

On a happier note, the sun is finally shining here today and I think Spring may be arriving after all.

OMG, that is terrible! :sad2: So sorry that is still going on up there. I'm glad the sun is finally out though, hopefully everything will get back to normal soon! Yikes!

Hotel/Car rental.. $110
Airfare to Florida... $510
Having the knowledge that my Cruise is Paid off... (lets say it together)
PRICELESS

That's AWFUL!! Are you in one of the towns on the news tonight that was having to miss school now, and give back some of their spring break?

Oh- and we received DCL mail last week for the up coming cruise- we booked while we were onboard the Magic in Nov 08.

Oh- and we received DCL mail last week for the up coming cruise- we booked while we were onboard the Magic in Nov 08.

Thankfully, no. Our school had electric, just our neighborhood was dark primarily caused by a huge tree that fell in my neighbors yard and tore down all the lines that service our block. They came and "re-strung" the lines this afternoon so I am happy to report that we now have power!:woohoo:

My daughter did have to give up one day of spring break, but it was unrelated to this particular storm. They used too many snow days last month so she now has to go in the day after Easter. We had no vacation plans, so this is not too bad for us, but I'm sure others are not too happy.

On the Girl Scout cookie front, someone asked us if we would be home so she could pick something up and drop something off. My husband stayed home this afternoon specifcially to be here to help her. She was a no show. No call or email cancelling. Sheesh.:confused3

I am really getting ansey!! Is it October yet??

We have transfered our reservation to Dreams Unlimited. This is our second cruise, I booked our first through an online site two weeks before sailing and booked this cruise while onboard. I am looking forward to working with them!!

I've been despretly trying to come up with our FE gifts, and haven't had much luck. Some of the things on the Homemade FE Gifts thread are amazing! I wish I were more talented and creative! Hopefully I can come up with something everyone will like. I ordered a FE from eBay, can't wait to get it!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
