Oh, one more question on this matter. Who is the Cates Family? As in how many adults and children. Is this a couple and one child, or one adult and two children?

I asked this but don't remember the answer - they are not on the disboard they are traveling with someone - i'm thinking 2 adults and one child . . . hopefully Leslie will answer you . . . :surfweb:

For everyone that is undecided about the FE, I just wanted to put out a reminder that as we get closer and get a better idea of what our count is we will decide if our group is too large - in which case break into smaller groups

Judy - thanks for updating your post - I am happy that it worked out well for you!

 hi Tim !!!

Hmmm...I think we need to decide this sooner rather than later. There are some of us who are already getting their FE gifts ready. How fair is it to then break up the group and be out the money for the gifts that were purchased and not used??

I like the big group, but will do whatever we decide as a whole. If the majority wants to split the list into say 2 groups and leave it at that then that would be okay too. But I really think we need to decide soon.

Thought and comments???

The Cates Family (two adults and a 3 year old son Alec) is traveling with Royfam. I am not sure if they are now on this thread or not.

I will make an executive decision, DH is working :teacher: today, and add our names to the FE list.

I do agree that you will have to make a cut off date and stick to it. Last cruise we had one, but they kept making exceptions in the last 2 weeks because they didn't want the kids to be left out. It became hard :scared1: to keep track of what we needed and some of us were traveling a week or so prior to sailing.

Whatever you decide on splitting the group will work for me.

Joanie

I'm all for keeping it a big group :) As I think the majority are already on board with the FE, and any more that join will increase the numbers but I can't imagine that it would be by very much at all (or is that just wishful thinking?)

If however it is decided to split the group, can I still deliver gifts to Everyone Anyway (of course knowing that not Everyone will deliver to us), I'm just happy to spread some Magic :)

I've decided! We definitely want to participate in the FE!

My DH was thinking it would be too much stress on me to think up stuff and get it all together, but I think it will be fun, especially for our kids. So, count us in!

For those of ya looking at Southwest Airlines, they open their fall schedule on March 23 for aug13- Oct 30. I wonder if this has to do with when they buy their Airline Fuel. It will be interesting to see the prices. Most companies buy the contract at 3-6 months out. Hope we may get a little lower prices.

... now I will be starting my daily search for cheap dings & airfare!:surfweb:

I just wished they would open up the first week of November. I already booked our flights down with JetBlue ($89!). I was tempted last week to book a flight from MCO with Airtran ($89, but a with a 1/2 hour stop in Virginia, no plane change), but DH said no and to wait to see what JetBlue offers.

I hope I don't regret that decision!

I had an idea for FE gifts so I just placed an order. I ordered a couple of extra, just in case. I'm o.k. with keeping it in a big group since I ordered based upon what our tally looks like now.

Hi Kristen,

No, I never did it. I read about it on another website and i'm giving it a try. The certificates don't seem to have any restrictions written on the back. They're gift cards not checks -the checks have restrictions.

Kim

Hi Kim,
I called the Hyatt last night, booked a room with the discount code: costco. You need to show your card when you check in... anyway, I told them I had gift cards and they said no problem!!!:cool1:

We have 3 rooms booked at $119 per room ($133 with tax). We are going to buy $400 worth of the gift cards at Costco, and that makes the room $106! (with Taxes!)

Unless I get a better deal closer to the date... that is it for us! :yay:
Kristen

I checked our reservation on line this week (I do this a lot) and our reservation info. has been changed from second seating to main dining. It looks like our wait list request was granted and we are now assigned to Main Dining. :cool1:

I hope this sticks. There is just no way my DS could make second seating. He falls asleep at 8:30!

Although this is my wife's 9th DCL cruise and my 7th we have never participated in Fish Extender gifts. To be honest, my girls rarely participate in group stuff. They kinda just like doing their own thing. I am hopeful Trick O Treating will get them more involved. Regardless, could someone give me an idea of how this works.

I am assuming will have a list of DISers, stateroom numbers, and ages so we can make or buy age appropriate gifts. Just not sure when you would start distributing the gifts or does it not matter.

I don't think it matters when you hand out your gifts. On my last cruise, I just picked the first night for myself and we went from state room to stateroom (finding them was fun, it taught my kids how to read a map, or deck plan in this case), and deposisted our gifts in the appropriate pockets in the FE's. I had my gifts all done by age and girls got something different than boys, and I had one combined gift for couples. Had it all done in about an hour on that first night and then all the other nights, sometimes during the day, when we would return from an outing to our stateroom, we found our FE filled with surprises and treats. My kids LOVED it!

That is the part that has me excited about the idea. I think my little girl would get a big kick out of the surprises and treats never knowing when the next one might show up. :cool1:

Hi again

Yes Mike did get a job.....THANKFULLY!
It was about 6 weeks i guess and I was sure nervous.

You never know how long a job will last in these times....scary but true.

He is really wanting me to say yes on keeping our DVC but i have not made up my mind and i am still leaning on the not keeping it.....all the reasons we bought it just seem so unrealistic to me at this point and i cant seem to get the excitement i once had for it.

So glad to see everyone is doing well and excited about there trip.....ONLY 7 months for you guess!!!!! WHOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear he found a job. I hope things start to get back to "normal" for you and that his job works out.

We are cruiser newbies and excited about the fun activities planned by some of you! In terms of the fish extender gifts, my little ones will love walking around putting surprises in the FE pockets! I've pretty much got ours ready (very small) so might want to be like Judy and give to everyone anyway. I hope that will be okay!

I've started thinking about trip activities for my six year olds that will be somewhat school related. I have lined pages that have Disney characters on them for my two to practice upper and lower case handwriting (I found that on a website). I plan on having them keep a daily journal. Thought I would put together a map of our travels that they can color and match the names with the places too. Are there other suggestions about school-related things to do? I'm sure my girls' teachers will have some assignments for them, but I wanted to have some things ready too. Maybe those of us with early elementary schoolers might get our heads together and come up with an on-board activity (treasure huntish) that gets those little brains problem-solving in the midst of having tons of fun!
