I am guessing that the party on Duval street will begin way before 7:30PM. Parents with yopung kids might want to be prepared to answer some questions. I know I have heard it can be bad on any old day and i suspect Halloween will be one big party. I can't wait to see but I am not traveling with young kids or in fact any kids this trip. Lois

I am just not ready to answer those questions (Mommy, why are those ladies' ****s painted purple and what are those three people DOING to each other on that corner?):rotfl: ever- we'll either be staying on the ship or doing a disney excursion, I think- no wandering the streets and exploring Key West this time!

At least everyone has plenty of lead time to consider these issues...

Welcome aboard!

Where in Northern VA? I have family in Fairfax and my daughter goes to American University (Go Eagles!) and lives in Bethesda.

Hey! I am an AU Eagle myself.... graduated in 1986! (oops - showing my age there!) My BFF, also an AU grad, lives in Chevy Chase.... we go down all the time!:)

Also, just wanted to check in and say hi to all the new members on the thread!!! Work has been so crazy, I haven't been here in a while! Happy Spring to all!!!!

I believe that DCL will have plenty for for families to do. I wouldn't let the holiday freak you out just be aware and use the information to make the best choice for you and your family. Lois

They almost beat 'Nova. I was so rooting for them.

You and me both!! But I was sure happy to see them in the finals!:)

Three of the colleges represented in my family made it to the tournament; AU, Cornell and Binghamton and all got knocked out in the first round :(

Hello!
We are in the process of getting our 5 day June 2010 cruise moved to this cruise instead! We figured out that for $2000 cheaper, we would get a longer cruise if we moved our date to October. This past week, we kept going back and forth between the 10/30/10 Western or the 10/23/10 Eastern. In the end, the western ports won.

Here are our details:
Where are we from: We are from Overland Park, Kansas. We moved here one year ago. We are originally from Southern California. I see there is a St Louis and Kansas City Dis family booked on this cruise. Small world! I think I saw some Californians on here too!

Who is in our party: I am Sherri. I will be 40 (OMG!:scared1:) at the time of our cruise. DH is Alex (age 37 at cruise time, but will turn 38 the day after our cruise ends). We have two sons, Nikolas and Noah (age 11 and 8 at cruise time).

What are we celebrating: Let's see. Hopefully the recession will be well behind us all and we can celebrate that! DH's birthday and Halloween would be other reasons to celebrate.

I'm not sure on the stateroom number or dinner seating times. DU is still switching our ressies. But we are requesting a category 6 on deck 6.

We are very excited about this cruise. Our first cruise was on the DCL Wonder. 4 days was too short for us!

Anyway, hello to everyone! I look forward to chatting over the next 18 months.

Glad to meet another Who fan! Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! It's going to be a long 18 months. I can't wait until the big day arrives!

Happy weekend! Remember we are one day closer and still counting! Lois

The cruise ticker is so long. How will I pass the next 1 year and 6 months?! I guess I can start looking at excursions!

Do what we do, book an interim cruise :goodvibes

Welcome to the group. It seems far off, but the time will pass by quickly (I hope).

You could book a cruise before then....we are actually thinking of spending a week at an all inclusive resort somewhere on the beach. Any suggestions of a nice cheap one with lots of activities for 5 year olds?

No interim cruise for us. We just got back from 8 days at WDW. I'm trying to keep myself busy by checking out our excursion options. I'm an obsessive planner.;)

If it'll help, this is what we did the last time we went on the Western:

Key West we did by ourselves, taking the Old Town Trolley to tour the area. The thing I liked about it was that you could get off and on at the various stops at will. Of course, we did the obligatory stop at Martgueritaville and had lunch in town.

At Grand Cayman, we booked Captain Marvin's to swim with he stingrays. It's walking distance from the pier and a great company to deal with. We had a blast.

At Cozumel, we took a 15 minute cab ride to Mr. Sancho's, a public beach with a bar/restaurant. While we enjoyed the beach, I was upset when my credit card bill came back showing a bigger charge than I remember signing for. After an ongoing correspondence with them, they were going to refund us the difference, but claimed the only way they could do it was through our bank and when they asked for the account number, I decided to just pass it off to a lesson learned.
