Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

There's a few places right on Duval Street. I think the Blonde Giraffe is one and the Key Lime pie factory. We took the trolley for the tour and got off at the far end of Duval and walked back which was nice. We got to go in and out of the shops and had lunch and drinks at Margaritaville.

When you go for key lime pie, make sure you try a slice frozen on a stick, it's dipped in chocolate. Totally amazing!!!!

Thanks, that sounds amazing!

Just some random thoughts...

Going this afternoon to Sam's Club to stock up on baby wipes. Although Sarah is 6 she still uses them to clean anything and everything (her hands, furniture, tv, cat, etc.) so I buy them by the case. We will probably bring several packs. If someone runs out we should have plenty. :thumbsup2

Jeff

P.S. Kidding about cleaning the cat with a wipe. :)

Yeah - those wipes come in handy even for a family of all adults. Though I admit we've switched to the flushable ones because you can dispose of them anywhere.

Not so strange. I have lots of friends who wear little or no makeup. I probably use more :scared1: than most of them, but less than some of my family members. I prefer plain old vaseline to remove what I do use when at home, but the wipes are so great when traveling. Mine are packed.

You know - I don't generally wear make up - except for special occasions - but this was a good reminder to pack some - for both Halloween and our formal nights - I almost forgot it!

I am finally done work - it was a killer of the week. It was our departments 5th Anniversary so we had our celebrations on Friday - every where else they had one at 10am and then it was over - because we're a call centre and can't just shut down - we ended up having to have six (6!) separate celebrations. And lucky me got to do the presentation (as the Manager for the week) all six times! It was such a waste of a day - but on top of the 3 hours I spent doing that I had to ensure that everything is done for the two weeks I'm away.

I think though this is my first vacation where I actually remember to change both my voicemail and my email and my communicator to all show I'll be away. Every other trip I swear, I've had to call someone to change a message or something that I forgot.

We're not leaving til Tuesday afternoon so I've got lots of time to pack. I'm still trying to get over this cold (I think all I need is a big dose of sleep and I'll be good).

Off to make my final packing list!

Have a great day everyone! :woohoo:

Lol today was starting a little wrong. I set the wrong alarm so we all slept in. My son is supposed to be at his game in about 15 mins for practice. Ooops. Well off to pack and things like that.. See ya all in FL!

Safe trip and Pixie Dust to all of you who've left already and those packing up to leave today and after.
We'll be packing up the van today, the sooner the better! We leave First thing tomorrow Morning. I hope I haven't forgotten anything..... At least I KNOW the bathing suits are packed! OH, CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Judy, Remind me of the date and time you plan on getting to Sheri's house (was it Monday or Tuesday?). Fingers crossed that I am able to bring Skye and Hope over for a very short meet and greet after you get there!

Just don't forget my FE.....that's the single most important thing!

If I don't talk to you again before you leave, have a wonderful, safe trip. I'm so looking forward to meeting you finally!

More random thoughts...

In keeping with how great this group has been and likes to share, I wanted to let everyone know that I normally bring a small pack of tools.

Screwdrivers, needle-nose pliers, cutters, just in case we buy a toy that requires a tool or maybe we have some costume or equipment failure.

I also pack batteries (mostly AA) and blank DVDs. Since we bring a laptop, and take a lot of digital video/pictures instead of off-loading our memory cards and filling up the laptop I burn directly to a blank disc so if you need one I should have plenty.

Does this mean if I bring some blank DVDs I can knock on your door with my memory card in hand? :goodvibes My laptop died a painful death last week and it won't be replaced until we return. I'm trying to figure out how many memory cards I need to buy so I'm not deleting pictures in order to take any.

Sure as long as there is a Konk Kooler in your other hand. :cool1:

As a funny side story: Prior to our August of 2006 cruise we drove from NJ to FL stopping in Daytona the day before the cruise staying at my Aunt-in-law's condo. Catherine and I both brought our laptops. When the cruise was over we were going to return to the condo so we brought most, but not everything from the condo to the ship. As we are driving to port the morning of the cruise I asked Catherine if she brought her laptop? She said, no. Did you bring yours? I, of course, forgot mine too. (ugh).

Just before pulling into the port we stopped in Cocoa Beach at a store to buy blank DVDs. For those who have been on the boards a long time you probably know VerandahMan. He was also on the cruise and was kind enough to off-load my memory cards to disc. It really saved us since we would have been very limited in the video/photos we could have taken.

Trying anything to avoid the packing, I guess it can't wait any longer<<sigh>>.

LOVE THAT ONE! I too will have a laptop to burn photos if needed.

JKSWonder, Your FE is packed nicely into a shoe box and I just got it into a suitcase. (was going to carry it on, but there was room for it in the suitcase, it'll be at the meet on boarding day, for you. :)
Beth, MONDAY, we'll be there Monday. I'm guessing just before Dinner time, late afternoonish. Would be great to see you pre cruise there!

I'm thinking of going to the spa this afternoon, just to have them wash and style my hair for me. Is that the pinnacle of laziness? I'm just SO busy here today, no relaxing for me, but an hour at the spa, would be BLISS!

Really coundn't sleep last night. I was awake at 2:45 and had to wait for the alarm to go off at 4:30. Spending the night outside Savannah. Won't get up too early tomorrow. No breakfast here until 7AM.

Thanks for the hint about the wine.

We plan to go to Kermits Key Lime pie at the end of Green street. Getting the frozen pie on a stick. :cool1:

Last time we went to a different place last time.

I know this has been posted before but I searched and can't find it. Which nights are pirate night, formal night etc? I'm trying to figure out what clothes I need to pack.

Just to say safe travels to everyone setting off! :car:

I am in last minute packing anxiety mode, waking up several times a night with that panicky feeling about something I haven't done yet (while DH snores contentedly beside me:headache:)

We set off on Tuesday pm to London, overnight in a hotel, and then fly out Wednesday lunchtime.

Quick question - do we need to bring towels at all? Or can we make do with the ones on the ship?

We had a rather productive day yesterday - we are almost all the way packed - apparently - we don't pack our dresses until the night before . . .

We did hit a glitch when we went to cash in all our change - we got to the bank 30 minutes after they closed! So, that has been added to today's schedule - they open at 11, and brunch at Prospectors (I know some of you are in my area) starts at 10 - so I'm hoping I can convince Linda we need to stop there first . . .

We don't leave until Wed - but I only work on Monday - and although I started 2 years ago - I still haven't completed my magnets!! Hopefully those will be finished today, since, <sigh> the Phillies won't be playing today :sad2:

I know you use their towels at the pools onboard - and on Castaway Cay - but I'm not sure about everywhere else

It's just after 6 am and we are about to have breakfast and then hit the road!! YIPPEE!!

I found some more magnets I had made but didn't get laminated, so I'll look for a place in Orlando to do that.

Janice, the bank, LoL, I went to the bank the other evening to get my travellers chq's. I had called ahead to make arrangements as last year they didn't have enough for me, and I had to go to a few different banks. Well, I was running late but did get there a little more than 1/2 an hour BEFORE they were to close, to find a note on the door saying they were now closed due to a ROBBERY!! Kinda of glad I WAS running late!

Towels, even for other excursions, you can take DCL towels with you. I'm bringing two of our own, for the kids though, and will buy two DCL ones on borad from the gift shop as they are thicker than the ones you can borrow.
Anyway, gotta go. See you all on board, and few of you before. OH, 3:45 GRILLS, right?
