Thanks so much for this info! You just saved me 100.00 as we had a room reserved for 170.00 and booked the same room through hotwire for 74.00. Yay!! More Konk Koolers for us!! If we manage to meet up, we'll buy you one too.

Great! I'm so glad someone could use this info. We love the Hyatt but can't stand paying full price, or even Costco rate. We've been lucky to get it cheap on Hotwire around 6 times now.

Also did anyone else get a credit from DCL for $15.66 pp? I just discovered it on my cc online. My TA says taxes pp actually dropped.
So we just got back $62.64 for 4 of us. Almost pays for our night at the Hyatt.


My gosh, I can't wait. Next weekend: haircut. The following weekend: packing!

Our schedule is slightly different . . . alreaady started laying out clothes to pack - haircuts scheduled for 10/22 (if mine can waitthat long!!

I have been sick the past few days and I'm just hoping today i fell good enough to finish my FE gift so I can get those packed to send . . .


For anyone else that is sending a box to the ship, when do you plan to send yours?

Hope you feel better - I've got a little something too. Took two days off of work last week in hopes that I could get over it but it didn't help - went back to work Thursday and Friday and now I feel even worse. The good news is it's Canadian Thanksgiving so I have Monday off to give myself a little more recovery time. Hoping it helps.

My mom got her hair done last week (first time professionally in like 30 years - she had a very tramatic experience as a child where perming solution burned off all of her hair while her aunt and the hair dresser sat around chatting - so this was a big deal). I should have gotten mine done as well (needs a trim) but didn't. With the salon two hours away (yes I am odd - there are hundreds of salons in Toronto but I choose one in Buffalo) I doubt I'll have a chance before we go.

Today I'm finishing my mom's Halloween costume and then packing up the first suitcase with our formal wear, FE gifts, magnets, halloween costumes and Pirate night wear. All the cruise specific stuff.

Being our first cruise - I admit, I'm starting to get a little nervous. What if we don't like it? What if we all get sea sick? What don't I know that I should know? What if.....??????

If you're can't sew or stitch - you could also try sticky foam letters (available at many craft stores and/or Walmart).

The ones I got at AC Moores came in a variety of colours and stick very well.

Well, Ellen isn't showing up until later and I haven't heard from Angela (SweetDolly) yet so for now it's just you and me kid! Are you going to do the Dwarves? I am pretty sure we'll spend some time in that line. But I can stop by and find you at CHH too. I guarantee we will be easy to spot, check out my shirts at the bottom of this post! LOL!

We finally got our credit too, it took a few days to show up, I guess because we had paid with our debit card and not an actual credit card. What a nice surprise!!

We are doing haircuts next weekend too I think, or the one after! I am going to start packing today!!!

Jen, LOVE the tie-dye! The dresses are beyond cute!

Janice, I'm shipping my FE gifts to the port ahead of time. I thought about packing them, but it would take a whole suitcase for all my gift bags, so I think shipping is the way to go.

Last year, I followed the directions on the DCL FAQ sticky thread for shipping boxes to the port. I sent my box out about two weeks prior to our cruise. It worked out perfectly. The box was waiting for us in our room when we arrived.

I'm going to do the same thing this time and ship it out next weekend. I hope it gets there o.k. I would die if my FE gifts got lost!!!

Jen, the tie dies you made are AMAZING!! Where did you find White dresses and the white top for yourself? I've thought about doing tie die shirts, but it looks SO complicated, but then I see how nice yours have turned out and,,,, well, I might attempt that for next year! You all MUST get a lifestyle portrait done with you in those!

This is our Thanksgiving Weekend here, and we are having our Turkey dinner tomorrow, here with my DH's parents and my mom and her BF, as well as ALL my kids. Today, DH went ahead and invited his parents over for dinner as well. We'll have roast Beef. Again all my kids will be here. My inlaws must be wondering what has gotten into us, as we just never invite them over two days in a row. But really, maybe this will be the start of a good thing. My MIL seems to have mellowed in her old age, and isn't so opinionated anymore. So maybe their visits will be more peaceful?

I've been packing up the rest of my FE gifts this morning. I've switched two decks to a large suitcase and the other 3 decks to a sturdy box. This means I won't need to take 3 boxes. The deck plans included with the maps have really helped with packing these, as they are all in order of room number. (makes things go much much more smoothly!) I went shoe shopping yesterday and found some nice low healed strappy dressy silver sandals at Payless! Very pleased with that. Then the boys dress shoes. They both need a new pair. And those things are bulky to pack. But while at Walmart, I found the Black lace up canvas shoes with the white rubber soles and toes. I recalled seeing a photo recently of a boy in a formal suit and with funky runners on his feet, and it looked pretty cool! I figured they'll be more comfy for my boys, so I got them those. Easier to pack as well, and they'll definately get more use out of them, than the dress shoes! The other bonus, is Tim might finally learn how to tie laces! Funny how in this age of velcro, kids are well advanced in years before learning how to tie laces. I was in Kindergarten when we learned THAT at school!

TWO, thats 2 weeks from today, we pull out of our driveway, and will be on VACATION!!! So today and tomorrow is house cleaning day (thanksgiving and all), next weekend I get my hair professionally done (good thing too, as now everyone can see I actully have some gray hair, that I don't usually let see the light of day).

Well, better get busy, lots to do, and time is FLYING!! Have a great Weekend everyone, and Janice and Trisha, I hope you are both feeling better soon!

Judy I got the dresses and my shirt at Dharma Trading, which is where I bought the dye. They cost around $10/apiece. I might have been able to find plain dresses elsewhere but I waited too long and all the summer stuff was gone, so ordering through them was one stop and very simple!

It wasn't hard at all! A bit tedious maybe but that also was because I was rushing a bit as I was outside and it started getting dark. I'm *the* worst at sewing, altering, handcrafts. I like to work digitally. So I even impressed myself with this one. If I can do it, so can you!!!

We will definitely get pics of the kids. Ron didn't want a shirt (after all he is a guy ) so we won't all match. I think he secretly wanted one after he saw them done, though!! They did come out better than any of us anticipated!

DD got a job which is a good thing but the job is in Italy for 6-8 weeks in Rome so she won't be able to come afterall.....it was not meant to be!!! My nephew will be away on business in Asia and Europe during that time as well....bummer.

DD is in London now, then heads to Germany, then heads to Italy for work...tough life!!!

DD got a job which is a good thing but the job is in Italy for 6-8 weeks in Rome so she won't be able to come afterall.....it was not meant to be!!! My nephew will be away on business in Asia and Europe during that time as well....bummer.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation, but the job sounds cool. One day we hope to visit Italy. Did you lose 50% of the cruise fare or did you figure a way around it?

MJ, sorry to hear about the cancellation, but glad to hear you'll still be cruising with us! Sounds like a very cool job your DD has!

On another note, MY DH IS SO SWEET. Hidden underneath that serious exterior, lies a sweet guy, who knows how to surprise! He doesn't do it very often, so when he does, It REALLY is a surprise. He NEVER buys me clothes (unless it's for Christmas and I've specifically pointed out WHAT I would like". Today he came home with some Beautiful Minnie PJ's for me!! It's exactly something I would have bought myself, if I were shopping for myself. They went straight into my suitcase!
