Approaching 200,000 hits on the tip calculator web page, this is the first report of this type that I have heard, and I'm not exactly hard to get in touch with.I am an application programmer and database administrator. Without boring you with the details there are certain aspects of web application programming that are not 100% compatible across all web browsers.
Yes, there are many ways to browse the web including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, to name a few.
Scripting languages like JavaScript are notorious for not being compatible across all browsers. Moreover, there are capability issues within the same browser depending on what version you are using.
Edit: To be fair it isn't a problem with JavaScript, but the way different browsers implement the Document Object Model... boring, snooze...
OK, enough of the boring stuff. The bottom line is it can be difficult to create a website that runs the same on all browsers and browser versions.
My educated guess is there is nothing wrong with your computer nor your Internet connection. It is that your current web browser doesn't play nice with the Tip Calculator website.
I hope this helps,
Jeff
I have not personally used IE 8 yet, but according to my web stats, 41% of current visitors are using IE 8, so I really don't think that's the problem. I certainly would have heard something before now.
If you or the OP can identify any specific issues I need to address, please let me know.

it (of course, it's not very practical, I can only use it on Halloween cruises, but who cares?!).
