Hi all. Looking to return to WDW about a year sooner than expected. Our last visit was Fall 2023 and we were planning to wait until 2026+ to return. However, my mom passed very recently and I feel compelled to head back as it was something she really wanted to do one more time (it has been decades for her). Normally my wife and I would stay at BWV or BCV but some of the childhood memories I have with my family are at the Poly, so I'm really drawn to either staying there or at least spending some time there.

Just FYI, this trip will be 2 adults no kids. We will rent points for this stay and will stay in a studio.

Option 1) 5 nights at the Poly. The main thing I feel we give up here is the ability to walk to Epcot and DHS. I don't really see an advantage to walking to MK/monorail to MK but certainly a nice option to have. On the other hand, it has the emotional connection to my childhood, and I have not stayed here in probably 35+ years when I was around 10 years old. How is the monorail transit getting to/from Epcot in the evening for F&W?

Option 2) 5 nights on the boardwalk (Either BWV or maybe try something new like Swolphin). Main advantage here is easy access to Epcot and DHS. We normally stay in this area, most recently at BCV in 2023, so are very aware of the pros/cons. I did hear the BWV rooms just got a refresh so that could be nice to see. The DHS walking advantage is a huge perk for us as we're super early risers and usually in that wave of folks sitting on top of the turnstiles in the morning.

Option 3) 3 nights boardwalk, 2 nights Poly. We've done split stays before just don't remember if we've done any with stays this short and it has honestly been a while. Any thoughts on this? Part of me thinks it would be best to just go with Option 2 but ensure we spend some time over at Poly one afternoon/evening. Maybe go to Trader Sam's one afternoon, walk the grounds, and eventually make our way over to MK from there for some fireworks to end the day.

Really appreciate any feedback/advice. Thanks.

All 3 choices are great options. They all have their upside. Pretty sure I’d go with Option 1 here, being you already had a recent stay in the BC/BW area and this trip is centered on your Mom and nostalgia of your family stay at Poly all those years ago. 3 days is cutting it short to settle into the resort and Poly has ALOT going for it! Besides everything within the resort, you’d have Grand Flo not far away and easy short walk to EP monorail at TTC. We find Poly overall very convenient and absolutely love the different layout of the studios and the entire resort vibe. My vote is #1 for this trip - all the way :teeth:

I agree with option #1. For one thing, from the Poly studios it's a very short walk directly to the Epcot monorail, no need to ride the Resort monorail around to transfer to the TTC. For another thing, we don't like split stays very much due to being homeless for a day. We'll book a split stay if we're short on points and have to combine a studio with a 1BR, but only if we can spend at least 3 nights in each location. For 5 nights, we'd want to stay put.

Thanks a lot for the input and you are both reaffirming what my gut was saying on the split stay deal. I did just notice that Poly is undergoing some kind of renovation through 2026 so do need to check that out before really committing one way or another on the resort choice. Thanks again!
