MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

Went down to Stacey's for Christmas Eve and had a wonderful time. Going to a movie tomorrow.

Love to all. :grouphug:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

We had a great time at Myrtle Beach but came home this evening to get here before the snow. We hit snow about 15 miles from home but the roads were fine. The snow is now accumulating and is beautiful. The first white Christmas here since 1947!! I love it!

Christmas was nice with Paul's family but I sure did miss my family.

Hope you all had a nice Christmas.

LYMI!

Susan, you are so lucky to have that white Christmas. Ted watered the lawn today. Crazy weather! Glad you had a good Christmas but understand about missing your family.

My poor brother and niece and nephew had a HORRIBLE Christmas. HORRIBLE. I am sooo sad. I don't know how and what but my brother gave his wedding ring back to his wife and left. The kids went with him. They were on a one year trial separation but I think it is headed for divorce. She has been having an affair of sorts for her 22 years of marriage to my brother. My niece is the one that found out by seeing a sextext. I could just cry for my family. My SIL was even at Stacey's house on Christmas Eve and my house on Thanksgiving acting like nothing was wrong.

Sandy: That is so sad about your brother.

Susan: Enjoy your snow!

We have a light snow today.

We had a really nice Christmas. We got to church about 3:10 and it was already hard to find a spot to sit and park! All those once a year people. I made a nice dinner and then we sent Kaleigh off to bed. Santa came and left Kaleigh a new bike and lots of nice gifts. Mommy and daddy did too. Jerry got me some new clothes and a pair of hoop earrings that say : A dream is a wish your heart makes" on them. THey are inexpensive, but nice nonetheles. I made a nice breakfast and we played Toy Story Mania on the Wii for a while. It was a family gift from Santa. Then we got ready and spent the rest of the day at Jerry's mom's house. Yesterday we spent the morning at my parents house. Then we went to the mall after that. I had to get my calendars for next year.

I found out my dad fell on Christmas morning so the ambulance was there. Then they went out with a friend to a Chinese restaurant for lunch and my mom had an insulin reaction and my dad had to call 911. It was the same ambulance crew that was at their house in the morning. My mom spent 3 hours at the ER getting her sugar stablilzed. She knew she was going out to eat and overcompensated with her long-acting insulin. She has never done that before. They are looking into home care for my dad, but are considering assisted living. I think home care can do more for my dad than they think. I would hate to see them sell the house right now.

We are planning on leaving Thursday for Richmond. There is a chance of freezing rain over night, so we may leave Wednesday. We have ressies for a hotel in DC for just that reason.

Good morning! I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We definitely had a different Christmas this year without Chris and without my aunt, uncle and cousins. They were supposed to come with us on Christmas and then something happened and no one came. It was very sad. My best friend came with us to the movies since she was alone on Christmas as well.

We did get some good news yesterday. Tyler has to have a seizure response dog which is going to cost $8,000. Well I told my sister to contact the Chelsea Hutchison foundation and they are donating $2500 towards the cost and are going to help her with fundraising to try and come up with more money.

Heidi: That is good news!

I am a bit hot right now. I called for January hours and the witch didn't give me any. Only 1 day for December and nothing for January. So, now I have to call and find out why she couldn't find 4 hours in the whole month to give me.

The sun is actually out today. We still won't make it up to freezing though. I guess it is supposed to get warmer this weekend, but rain. It is supposed to be inthe mid 50's in Richmond.

Denine - How many hours per month do you want to work? That is crazy she won't give you any hours. By the end of the week it is supposed to get really cold. Our high on Friday is supposed to be 15 and the low is -6. Hoping our pipes don't freeze. Yikes.

Mom - Thursday night it is supposed to get down to -3 so I am not sure if I should stay home to keep the water running and make sure nothing floods, or just hope nothing happens and spend the night!

Denine, how's your parents doing? Bless their hearts.

Heidi, I knew about the temps and didn't even think about your place. What do you normally do? Run water and keep the doors open under the sink? If that's the case you could spend the night. Might be easier for you since your "she devil" might get under your sink. Yikes, hard decision!

Heidi: I put down every Friday for January and she gave me none.

Yeah! They took away the ice warning for Thursday morning, so it looks like we will leave for VA then.

Everyone here should be thanking us for leaving since it is supposed to warm up while we are gone and cool down again when we get back.

Yes, we usually run the water and put the electric heater outside the cabinet and pray that we do not flood our house or burn it down. We can't use the regular heat since there isn't a register in the kitchen.

Sandy, sorry to hear about your brother's situation.

Denine, hope your mom and dad are both doing ok. Sounds like one busy day for them and the paramedics. Be safe going to Richmond.

Heidi, that is so cool about the seizure dog for Joey. I hope your pipes don't freeze. Sounds iek it is going to be real cold there. We are supposed to get to 60 on Satuurday!!

Blue and Stanly are asleep here in the family room and both are snoring. I can hardly hear the TV.

Barb & Julie, how was your Christmas?

Not much going on here. Just working and loafing.

Good morning! Got great news that Chris is coming home 6 days earlier than planned!! He is now coming home on 1/11/11! I am so excited I get to spend some time with him before he goes back to school and before the cruise. 4 weeks to the day we get on the Dream!!!!!!! YAY!!! Today is going to be a great day!

I'm sooooo excited. Tyler is nowhere under control with his seizures so they have decided to check into dogs for assistance. It just so happens that there is a lady that started a foundation here because they lost their daughter. That foundation put Stacey in contact with an epileptic dog trainer that lives very close to Stacey. She actually trains dogs for people all over the country. Anyway, the foundation has kindly agreed to donate 2500.00 for the dog. Stacey and Richard have to pay for the other 4500. It's a lot of money but now Stacey is looking into fundraising. It's happening so fast. Looks like they will get the dog in 4-6 weeks. The trainer drove over to Stacey's today with her daughter's dog. The dog wouldn't leave Tyler's side. He would even keep a paw on Tyler. I don't know how in the world the dog's can sense it but they can. The trainer picks out a puppy by having her 20 year old epileptic daughter lay on the floor and they can tell by the way the puppies react to her. Pretty interesting stuff! If any of you have ideas for fundraising we're open to suggestions.

Sitting here waiting for our first measurable snowfall of the season.....FINALLY. Not much but at least it's something. They are saying somewhere between 5-10". Stacey is driving up here and I wish she wasn't. She just wants to visit which is nice but I'm worried about the drive. She is suppose to get a foot when it's over. Hasn't started there yet either but the drive between here and there is notorious for bad weather related accidents.

Hi guys! Sorry to be MIA lately. Merry Belated Christmas! It was very stressful and difficult time since I was on crutches. I have to say that I'm FINALLY off crutches as of this past monday!!!! My foot still hurts, but much better. I hope you all had a nice Chirstmas, we did! The kids made out!!! (of course!)

Sandy, fundraiser ideas... wing dings (find a resturant/bar.. you sell tickets, bar gets half of ticket price (usually $20 a ticket) and then for 2 or 3 hours the food and well drinks, tap beer and soft drinks are unlimited during that time to ticket holders), 50/50 raffles, candy bars, placing jars with his picture and WHY the jar is there on it and placing it in local restaurants and stores for change..... just a few ideas for you....

Heidi, that is nice about Chris coming home early. I hope you didn't have to pay to reticket the return trip. that can be a little pricey. I've seen pictures of the Dream... and all I can say is WOW!!!! I wish I could go with you! Take lots of pictures and POST them!!

Denine, I was thinking about your parents... and why couldn't you have them move in with you guys for awhile. You are an RN and when you are at work, Jerry would be home... IF help would be needed, You could transform the office into a bedroom for them and move the office to the basement or your huge bedroom OR even the spare room for awhile. You have a type of ramp don't you? If not, I believe my brother might have the ramp they used to get my dad in his house. Since one of Jerry's work perks is that he can work from home AND doesn't have set work hours, so to speak, it might be a relief for your mom and dad. Just trying to think of options for them. I know they would probably feel better being with family then in an assisted living facility and they wouldn't HAVE to sell their house until they are ready. With your experiences, they might feel better being with family and someone who has medical knowledge. I bet Kaleigh would love to have the company of her grandparents. PLUS, you would have an instant baby sitter!! (Kaleigh for them and them for her!!). Also you wouldn't have to worry about the cats while you guys are gone on your trips! Your parents DON'T need around the clock care so you wouldn't be "tied down to being home" all day and you can still do daily schedules of grocery store, Kaleigh's ball games...etc.... I do hope something works out for your parents.

Susan, our Christmas was wonderful! It's sad that it's over, but it still was very nice.

Well, gotta run! I hope to be back on later! IF not... I hope you all have a Very Happy New Year!!! Stay safe!!!!

We are here at John & Judy's. We went to Williamsburg for a few hours this morning. It felt balmy! It was about 43.

Julie: Glad to hear you are finally off crutches! We love the the Mickey snowman and Kaleigh loves her Tink tree!

My parents would never even consider moving in with us in a million years. They are too independent and don't want to ask us kids for anything. I think the home health will work for them.

Sandy: That is exciting about the dog! I hope the fundraising works out.

Heidi: Yeah that Chris is coming home early.

Hi Barb and Susan!

It was a few degrees warmer up here today with sun! We all know when you leave the state, that's for sure!;)

I know your parents wouldn't consider it, but by the sounds of it (having the rescue squad at the house for his falls, sometimes multiple times) they aren't as independent as they might think. It wouldn't be like you were taking "care" of them, just knowing that there is someone there 3/4 of the time in the case they would need help and not have to call the squad. I know home health care could work for them, but remember those care workers have certain hours they have to work... most only an hour or 2 in the morning and the same time in the evening. I know my mom looked into it for my dad, and it was just too much money for not a lot of time. It was the during the day (when my dad needed for falls etc..., almost like your dad) they wouldn't be there. I'm sure if you insisted and didn't take no for an answer, they might consider it. IF they know the idea is yours (like you said, they don't want to ask you kids for anything) and they aren't asking... they might consider it. Plus with all the home health care horror stories (robbing the people, don't give the medicine they way they should, physically hurting them..etc) I couldn't live with myself if that would happen to my parent(s). I don't envy you. Hope all goes well with them. Lots to think about, that's for sure!

Hi Barb! What are the plans for tomorrow night?

We took the kids to a year round car hop restaurant today for lunch. We all loved it! It's called Swenson's. You can get the food to go or eat in the car. The kids love the idea of the car hop and eating in your car. We go in the summer time to another car hop restaurant that is only open during the summer months. There we go for hot dogs and chili burgers!

Well, gonna run.... again! Have a great day!
