Oct 18th 2007, 3 nights?

Anyone plan excursions? I know some of you talked about Atlantis. We didn't plan much. DD (14) is doing the teen beach thing on CC and my mom and I are doing the beach side cabana massages. This was our one splurge besides staying at the Poly.

I will check in tomorrow and see what is going on, but not much more time for me on here...

PiperG we have friends in that area as well. Usually visit The Mall when we visit them.

Wow, leave a few days and the thread goes crazy.... we booked the comfort suites across from the Atlantis, this room includes the waterpark tickets. You can check in early even though your room isnt ready, they will give you your bands and off you go....we will never see the room!! As far as other excursions, we will probably just enjoy the beach day together :grouphug: and do some snorkeling....

Welcome back Settinsail! To think it's only one week away before me and my little one head out to WDW. He's been so excited "helping" to make the agenda for the days we will be at the resort. Maybe some of you who have been before can answer a few questions:confused3

Has anyone been to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween that they have at Magic Kingdom?

Has anyone ridden Soar??? I'm deathly afraid of heights and although I know this is more of a 3D type ride, just not sure I can do it!!

Also, DS10 has a scary pirate (like a skull) with the hat that he wore at Halloween last year......he first asked if he could bring and wear it and I thought it might be to scary for the little kiddo's (he wouldn't try to frighten anyone, he loves little children)...... would like input please.

Also part II ! :goodvibes What is the best way to carry things around at WDW and the cruise...especially WDW..fanny pack ?(camera, room key, CC and/or cash)..do we need water bottles or a poncho???? If so then would a backpack or a larger beech type bag work better. I don't ride many rides, and really DS10 doesn't either (hates roller coasters).

Cruise, should I have a carry-on vs what they will put in our stateroom when we get there and what should I have in it?

Any info would be great............ Sorry, don't you just hate 1st timers!:rolleyes1 :grouphug:

I just wanted to throw in my two cents worth about Soarin... I loved the ride, as much as I could watch!! I dont get carsick, or airsick, the hight didnt bother me, but for some reason my brain and my stomach were not playing nice together!!:crazy2: As soon as I turned away from the screen I was fine!? I am going to try it again this year, I thought the movie was great, and maybe I will get to see more of it...

To everyone for giving me such great advice, tips....and well maybe the courage to try Soarin'......

I think the majority of you will be on the ship before me and DS10 will be arriving from the resort... so how will I find any of you!! HA! If ya wanna be that is...lol..... DS is excited as I believe CK 1 & @ has a DS10 also. Me? Just point me in the direction of a cool drink by then.."k"??:woohoo:

Sooooooooooo much stuff still to do......... OH... one more (well, maybe two or three..it is after all only Monday!)....

Sea Sickness....considering it's my first time..exactly what should I bring? When should I take it and what about DS10..which he won't do a pill at all....how did you folks handle the children's sea sickness if they get it?

XOXOX HUGGINS!
:grouphug:

That was a concern of mine too, sea sickness!! I dont know if any of us get it or not, so im not taking any chances... We are all going to do the dramamine starting the day before the cruise. I got chewables for my kids!! I would rather not ruin any time on the ship, seeing as its so short to begin with, and the doctor told me to give it to them at night in case there is any drowsiness with it. :faint:

So, I we were at Sam's club yesterday, and I pointed out a neon lime green polo shirt to my DW. I mentioned the DIS board, and all the great people from around the country (including bears fans....subject for another topic...Too depressed right now) I've been talking to. She is very excited about meeting up with people, even though most have older kids than our DD, 4. Look forward to meeting everyone, but I will not be wearing that shirt! Don't get me wrong...it may work for some.

Ha! Too funny........... Bears Orange and Blue maybe? :confused3 :rotfl:
:cheer2: :cheer2:

DD4 is about the same age as my grandaughter and my son absolutely dots on her. He loves being "Uncle Aaron"... and katy bar the door if anyone tries to harm or be mean to his niece!!

Would love to meet up somewhere with everyone also. Just look down for a very little short person..."k"? :lmao:

Going (hopefully this will be the last trip) to the drugstore tonight for the "toothpaste, deoderant, hair stuff, ...you know...stuff....Thank you, I didn't even know they came in chewables..wasn't sure what I was going to do there. That will be great!

Being sick would really be a bummer for your first cruise......and yes, it's such a short one that you couldn't recover really........so POSITIVE THOUGHTS EVERYONE!:cloud9:

Is there any way to know what dining rotation we have? It sure would help me pack if I knew which night we were going to be in which restaurant.

Unfortunately you don't find that out until you check in and get your KTTW card.

It's too bad--I'd like to know too!

So begins the last full week of work. I'm trying to work extra hard to get everything done so I can totally mentally check out next week. I'm so terrible about that!

I'm starting to do laundry and put things aside to pack. Luckily we'll be in a 1-bedroom at VWL when we get off the boat, so we can do a quick load of laundry when we get there and pack light.

I need to stop by the drugstore and pick up some Bonine and maybe more sunscreen. I also need to call the salon and make an appointment for hair & nails.

It's starting to seem very real! I can't wait! :dance3:

WAY crazy-o work week here, including work trip to S. Florida ... SO looking forward to next Thursday morning!!! :)

YES! Why does everyone wait till the week before you go on vacation to give you stacks of things that "have" to be accomplished before you leave...:confused3

UPDATE: Have pirate outfit for DS10...he was so cute yesterday at the Halloween outlet. He even wanted me to wear the same shirt, sash and bandana as him so we could match.......this is WAY out of character as he is in the stage of "you embarrass me mom.." no singing or dancing near him! HA! Should be tons of fun.pirate:

Also picked up the Bonine if needed...(cross fingers).

Tulsa is ALL OUT of sunscreen....oh it is October.......... geeeeze, still looking.:cool2:

5 days before departure for me!:cool1:

I've also been informed by my oldest DS that we must be dressed in OU football attire for departure pics....in rememberance of him...:lmao: My adult children are sooooooo jealous...:rolleyes1 Oldest son graduated last May from OU (University of Oklahoma, although I can't think of why anyone wouldn't know a what a SOONER is..ha!):teacher: and is now working (for a great company) in Houston....yes, they do grow up...some move away...hard, hard, hard:sad1: ...but I'm proud, proud, proud of him!:woohoo:

Hi,

Yes, DS10 wanted to feed and swim with the stingrays and we are doing that in Nassau along with a banana boat ride.... CC I just got snorkels, floats and bicycle rental...just please someone flip me over..by this time I'll be worn plum out.:upsidedow

Part of me really wanted to do the Atlantis thingy, but with just the two of us, not sure it would save me much, but it sure does for larger families....take good pic's...maybe someday, my prince will find me and take me. princess:

Everyone,

I have just read through the funniest trip report on the face of the planet. Hopefully this link will work and you can just click on it. If that does not work, go to the Trip Reports board and read "Holy High Seas Batman. Our Family Rocks the 9/30 Wonder Sailing." I was laughing out loud!:happytv:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1601033

That was VERY funny and well written. :rotfl:
I never thought so many things could go WRONG on the cruise!!! BUT, she had 3 very young kids and VERY rough seas. Boy, I sure hope we do not have seas like that :scared1:

Thanks for posting the link!

I think most of your questions have been answered already but I will add
my 2 cents worth. Never been to MNSSHP but Soarin is not to be missed.
It is an extremely mild "ride" with awesome scenery. If you decide not to
ride it, your son would still love it. I'll tell you what to absolutely NOT get
on and that is Mission Space !!!! I thought I was going to die, seriously.
Last year when my son was 9 his favs were Expedition Everest, Test Track,
Rock n Roller Coaster, Mission Space and the really high slides at the Water Parks.
His absolute favorite thing was Disney Quest at Downtown Disney.
Lots of interactive reality games. We had a package that included it but
if you don't you pay extra to get in. Once he found that he spent
about 3 days there!!! You will prob not need a poncho but it won't take
up much space if you do carry it. We did not carry water bottles but it
is very hot in October and you will get thirsty alot. We had the dining
so we used our snack credits alot and got soda (prob should have been drinking water but oh well). I carried a small backpack and family
treated me like a pack mule (which I am used to being the mom!!!)

 Hi! It's nice to see you again too. How was the NYC trip?

Looking forward to seeing you on the saililng--I'm so glad you'll be able to make the 11:30! :cool1:

We had a great trip! Everything was way too expensive and I spent way
too much $. I hate having these 2 trips so close together. I think maybe
by December I will have some cash again ... no, wait a minute, forgot
about Christmas !!! Maybe by Feb :sad2:
Well, will not think about that now and will just enjoy the cruise:cool1:

See you on the SHIP pirate:

Well, everyone hang in there at work these last few days and soon we'll
be onboard !!! I am not sure how much more time I will have to post
but I will probably still take time to check in and read.

I told my son about the boy wearing his Urlacher jersey and now my son
will be wearing his Julius Peppers jersey (Panthers) so if you see that, it's
us!

My son has told me who Urlacher is (sorry, not a big NFL fan) and who
Sideshow Bob is. My son is a HUGE Simpsons fan and I thought I knew
all the characters but had not heard of that one.

Take care and hope to see you onboardpirate:

OK, 8 days, but who's counting?!?! Can't wait! Settin Sail, you had me crying (laughing!) with your comment about dying on Mission Space! So funny, I'm trying to picture your face afterwards, we're you really crying???:rotfl2:

We really aren't doing any excursions, just sitting back by the pool, eating, and relaxing! Who knows, maybe we'll change our minds, but for right now the only thing we have planned is Palo and yoga for me. If we do anything, perhaps something on CC, we love that island!

It has been 90 here for the last few days, soon to go down to 50. I'm really hoping for snow for everyone else while we're on the cruise! Just kidding! :rolleyes1

So I tell my DH about the "live wire green" shirts/clothing DIS people wear and he says he has the perfect shirt, YIKES! He has lots of vendors who send him clothing and one sent him the brightest green golf shirt you have ever seen! He attempted to wear it to a party this summer and I about died! He's so proud of himself that he fished it out of the garbage and now has an opportunity to wear it!!! Look for the blond family at the ship model, crazy DH wearing "scary green shirt"!
See you all soon!

TOO funny on the shirt.

Just FIVE minutes ago the docs arrived... stateroom 6632... guess that SSB is official now. One more week!
