Oct. 16-23, 2010 - Bring Back the Magic

We were one of the unfortunate that were accessed the fuel surcharge two years ago. Does anyone know if we are going to or not get a onboard credit for the surcharge?

We were charged the fuel surcharge also :sad2:
wtpclc (on our roll call) said they got an OBC for their surcharge (I still need to PM you Carrie)

When I called our TA (a little over a month ago before final payment) they said that DCL didn't know anything about reversing/changing/giving back the charge.

We need to look into that again and get a straight answer (i think )

If some already got it back and DCL is telling some of us that they know nothing about it is kind of frustrating :headache:

Thanks for the reply. I have heard the same conflicting answers but nothing definative. I am not counting on it but it is always nice to have some extra OBC. Hopefully someone will get the final answer from DCL.

You would think (to be fair across the board) that if they stopped charging the surcharge, they should give back to the ones that that paid it :confused3
I understand that DCL can do what they want . . .just saying

We went on an RCCL cruise last year and paid the surcharge when we booked, but they gave it back to us because the oil price went down before sailing.

Sorry for getting back on my soapbox :mic:

We are on the same soapbox big time. It is soooooo unfair that people who book after do not have to pay the fee but we do. The goal of DCL to get you to book early and now we penalized for it. I can see if regular cruise prices go up or down but not a fee for a reason that no longer exists. I will now step off my soapbox and return this thread to it's regularly schedule chat.

Northern Germany, today.
A quiet little suburban street on a sunny morning.

Annichan is busy folding some laundry and being harrassed by the cats, who seem to think that a serving of brunch is in order.

This little scene is interrupted by the door bell ringing: a mailman triumphantly presents a little envelope with the proud words "FedEx all the way from the US!".

Annichan accepts the envelope, thanks the mailman, intercepts to catch the tomcat who wasn't supposed to use this opportunity to bolt out the door, and then she starts opening the envelope.
She isn't expecting anything from overseas, except maybe ... could it really be ... this early ...

And yes, it is true and OUR CRUISE DOCUMENTS HAVE ARRIVED !!:banana::banana:

Now it truly seems as if the cruise is getting really close. Oh wow, I never thought I could get any more excited than I already was, but obviously that's not true ;)

Seriously, as I work in a publishing house and am therefore quite attentive to such things, I am so impressed with the printing and binding quality of that document booklet! :worship:
At first I assumed it couldn't possibly contain any more personalized info than our cabin number to be printed in such fine quality, but I have since found out that it also contains all our excursions, the fact that I have done the online check-in and prepaid the gratuities - truly well done, Disney!

(Sorry for being so euphoric, but this just came so unexpectedly. What a great Disney moment :lovestruc)

Oh well, I better get back to folding the laundry now. ;)

Have a great day everybody!

Yeah!!!!! Congrats on being first!!!!

I can't believe that you are the first one to do the DOCUMENT DANCE!!!
party:

That is the DIS term for what you do when your cruise documents arrive. I'm hoping that over the next few days we will all be joining you - congrats!

Doc Dance! Congratulations Annika!

WOW, it's getting close :goodvibes

Great news that the cruise docs are on the way. We have no mail delivery today so keeping my fingers crossed that a package will be waiting for me when I get home from work tomorrow..

Yeah!!!!! Congrats on being first!!!!

Okay, so Doc Dance it is called ... yay! party:

By the way, I can't believe I was actually the first to get those documents!
Maybe they send them a bit earlier to us people overseas, to make sure that we get them in time ... That would mean that Wendy in Scotland should have received them also, is that right Wendy?

The ones here in the states are pobably in limbo, at any of the transfer points that are used, since today is a holiday, and no mail delivery, etc, and yesterday being sun, is not helping. We should see them here inthe states any day now, assuming they were all mailed at the same time. :confused3:

Congrats on getting yours.

He is back in Texas. Erin was here too this week end. She found a job in Jacksonville. The others are still in college. Was interesting to see the two in the real world vs the college kids.
