As soon as I had finished my last post it occurred to me that I've forgotten half of what I'd been meaning to say ... But at least that means that I'll get my post count up a little :)

Anyway, with many of you guys talking about booking onboard activities and such I'm starting to get really impatient: This is our first cruise, and we have to wait until August to book!!!:headache::sad2:
I wonder if any of my choices will be left for me at all ...

But well, nothing to be done about that.
And I guess there is always still embarkation day to try and book some things. It's just that I'm afraid we will be so overwhelmed with being on the ship for the first time, wanting to do a quick sightseeing tour, having a bite to eat, maybe a swim, then finding our cabin, the drill, the sailaway party - whew! How are we supposed to fit all that in AND go to some booking desk without having a totally stressful day?

Relax, Annika. Breathe deeply. All will be well.

I hope ...

hang with us and we can get you where you need to go. :thumbsup2

:wave2: Hi Annika, good to see you post again :goodvibes

We have to wait until August to book too, so yo're not alone. Although, some of the others in my/our group can book in July  They tell me not to worry, we'll have plenty to do :woohoo: I will trust their judgement. :upsidedow

We are in the same situation. You are not alone. We are worried if we will get any choices as well. This is our first cruise to.

Relax Annika :cloud9:

As far as booking things on the ship, like brunch or dinner at Palo or spa treatments - they always leave a certain percentage of reservations open for people to book when they arrive on the ship.

For shore tours, it really depends on what you want to do. Many of the activities, like the 7 Mile Beach Break and the Conch Train in Key West, don't usually fill up. In fact, the Conch Train runs all day - I believe you just queue up and get on the next available tour. There are other shore activities like this.

Even if an activity you want to do fills up, there are usually some last minute cancellations, so it pays to get on the waiting list.

Why don't you post the shore tours you are thinking about booking - there are lots of people on this board that have done the Western before and they can give you an idea of which tours book up first.

Good Luck! :thumbsup2

P.S. A bunch of us are doing the 7 Mile Beach Break on Grand Cayman if you want to join us

Thank you for the encouraging words!

We are currently looking at trying to book the following, if at all possible (sorted in the order of how important they are to us):

1) The Tulum Ruins Tour in Cozumel (DH is looking forward to this so much!)
2) Dinner at Palo
3) Brunch at Palo
4) One of those packages for Castaway Cay where you get a bike and a snorkel and all that, not sure which one. Definitely has to have the bike, though!
5) Some beach event on Grand Cayman, not sure whether 7 Mile or Rum Point, but if you are all going to 7 Mile Beach I think we would like to join you!
6) The Exotic Rasul (very affordable price, and I just wanted to book something in the spa and I'm sure this will be fun!)

For Key West, we are not really planning on booking anything through Disney. We really like to go for walks at home and don't mind if they are a few miles long, so we will probably just do a bit of walking there. Or if our feet get sore, we could always jump on one of those little trains without having pre-booked through Disney, as far as I understand it.

We felt the same way on our first cruise. So we got to the port really early and were 2nd in line so we got #1 for boarding. There were no lines so if you can get there early you will have plenty of time to book, eat, and tour the ship.

This is exactly what we plan to do as well - arrive early!

Maybe that will save me from experiencing the thing that happened to my in a dream just the other night:

DH and I were just disembarking the Magic after our week-long cruise, and I turned to DH and said wonderingly "You know, I sort of really don't remember much of what we did this last week!".
Then that got me thinking, and becoming all the more freaked-out, I said "...actually come to think of it, I don't remember anything AT ALL!", to which DH chidingly said that HE remembered every last thing perfectly. :sad2:
But I went on, "... and I didn't take a single photo, how am I supposed to write a dining report on the DIS?" (can't believe how deeply the DIS has already seeped into my subconscious :lmao:).
And I ended by saying, "Now I have to do the same cruise again next year"; and then DH and I got into an argument because in reality we have agreed to do only a very cheap holiday next year :rotfl2:.

God, I dream such silly things ...

Hello, Fellow Cruisers!

I was working on my spreadsheet (yes...it's true...it's a sickness...) for the week of our cruise, and I see that we're in Cayman on 10/19 and in Cozumel on 10/20. Does anyone know which of these days will be Pirate Night?

Also, I really didn't know which night to try for Palo dinner. We really enjoyed the new menus on the Magic last year, and the only dining room rotational that we wouldn't mind missing is Parrot Cay. But...there's no way to know what night that will be. What are everyone else's thoughts on the best night for Palo? I'm actually starting to think about skipping it, but DH REALLY likes Palo dinner...

TIA! :goodvibes

Yes Annika, it will all be ok. There is plenty of time when you get on board to book Palo etc. You should also be ok on excursions. I think just the dolphin swim ones fill up the fastest.
Do you plan on getting to the port early?

Yes, sort of early, we are booked on the 10:00 a.m. shuttle from the Radisson (thanks to Kathy who kindly called them to reserve for us! :flower3:)

hang with us and we can get you where you need to go. :thumbsup2

Oh that sounds great! Like probably all the newbies, we will really appreciate a little help from our more cruise-experienced DISers! :yay:

:wave2: Hi Annika, good to see you post again :goodvibes

Hi Deb, good to know I'm not alone in having to wait until August ... Our time will come! :thumbsup2

We are in the same situation. You are not alone. We are worried if we will get any choices as well. This is our first cruise to.

Great! When reading here on the boards, I kind of sometimes get the feeling that all around me are the cruise pros and I'm the only first timer ... Good to know that is isn't so! (And of course, we will ALL be cruise experts afterwards!)

We normally do not do dinner at Palo because we love our tablemates and do not want to miss a night without them. I love the Palo brunch so we will do that.

LOVE the spreadsheet! :rotfl: (i secretly do that too :ssst:)

Pirates in the Caribbean is 10/20, according to my sources (its in MY spreadsheet and calendar that way :thumbsup2)

I agree - do brunch at Palo then you don't miss a dinner rotation :thumbsup2

Yup, stick with me Annika - I'm headed right for the spa when we board. Although I've been told I must show up at Topsiders with a full plate of shrimp, as an offering to my tablemates, in order to claim my 'saved' seat :sad2:

Same here:love:

I LOVE my tablemates too!!! In fact, by the time I get to dinner the first night, I'm sure I will love everyone in the dining room :rotfl:

Ok...so Pirate Night is the same day that we are in Cozumel. On some Westerns, wasn't it on the Grand Cayman day? That's why I was trying to see if someone had the inside scoop...
Thanks!

Hi, I am Kathy's (NJ Princess) brother, Frank. We did the very first Disney cruise trip to Tulum ever! It was 1999 and all the cruise ship went to Mexico because of Hurricane Floyd. We both loved Tulum. (Maybe it was the tour guide having a cooler of local beer for everyone.) It is a beautiful place. Bring your bathing suit; you can actually go in the water there. Do it! :beach:

Couldnt get into the WWOHP area today, but was close enough to get a few pics.I think Ill go over tom armed with a chair(to keep all of the inconsiderate people at bay.If today was any indication of tom, I amy go over to US instead) and my good camera for the grand opening. However there was somethings I could see from the walkways around the area and park.Including the red carpet thats going to be used. I felt sorry for the guys putting it down.It rained not 10 minutes after I walked away.

This is at Prime Outlet Mall. Needed some new sneakers.2 things. What was I thinking and what idiot thought its a good idea to build open air malls in Florida? The air was alive with lightning and thunder.

Stopped at the Dig to use the restroom and when I came out it was raining.Found out in US that if you walk on the sidewalk after a rain, and not the blacktop its cooler on you feet and legs.
