Hey!

We're virtual neighbors!... considering the boundless nature of the web?!

Sorry to have not responded sooner... I've been busy doing all manner of chore and so forth.

Did you know YESTERDAY was the 1st day you could begin making on line camp ground reservations for JUNE of 2009 on the Reserve America system. http://www.reserveamerica.com/campi...undMap&map=PARK&parkId=120075&contractCode=CA I've rarely gone camping in my time - and as a kid we never went on vacations as my family ran a business near 365 days a year for many years... with me in it behind the cash register and horse trading with customers when I was older. Other kids at school occasionally spoke of camping and I used to muse ... "gee, those kids were soooo lucky to go camping!"

As such, travel and the simple pleasure of camping with good friends and family has been an enjoyable diversion for us. and don't get me wrong.... I enjoy the comfort of conventional travel just as much.

At any rate here's a great web site with several beaches of Santa Barbara county. Select one and click on the various numbered points to bring up a cool 360 degree view that you can rotate through. http://www.santabarbara.com/virtual_tour/beaches/

There were a few camp sites still available on some weekends! And if you or anyone else were interested in making reservations for the summer of 2009 .. you can still plan a gathering for July of 2009 as those dates will not be released until January 1st of 2009 (8AM sharp). Just bear in mind that the prime camp sites were all gone within about 90 seconds of 8AM yesterday .. IE, the best ocean view sites at our choosen beach or the friday / sat in June. Within an hour only 4 sites were left - and late last nite it dwindled down to 2 sites adjacent to the rest rooms... which are probably among the least desired camp sites imaginable in some ways. Then again, who really cares when you're on the sand in the summer, eh?

At any rate, we're all set to camp on the beach in Santa Barbara next June now... we have 7 families with 24 people spread among 3 camp sites. We plan on doing roasted marshmellos and hot dogs ... out door movies with an LCD projector for the kids and I hope to capture some good sunset / sunrise / beachgoing photos of merit. One other family is joining us too but they're gonna stay at a hotel instead - as they want to join in the rustic fun without giving up some civilized modern comforts. Sigh!

DH used the "reserveamerica" website to reserve campsites for our vacation last year. It's amazing how quickly the campsites are snatched up! You have to know when and where you want to camp so you can hopefully get what you want.:sad2:

It's as bad as when DCL releases new dates

So crash . . .are you :boat: with us? I'll add you to the roll call if you are.

I'm usually not done either, but this year I just forced myself to get it done and I did. LOL

Kristen knows our family almost always sails at precisely this time of year ... however we are currently booked to sail the Magic families (blood family)
in July. Seriously, I don't expect this date & plan to be finalized since we've priced that trip at near 30K.... which is sort of A LOT. Some of the family has expressed they'd rather sail non-Disney to northern Europe - or to another region to save a little money. There really are so many different places we've all not seen yet. So if this gets cancelled then we have to rebook something on Disney in 2010 and - this is probably one of our favorite times of year to go with the Mouse. We do have interest in the April 2010 East bound repo though ... but whether we go on that or not depends upon what our family group decides to do as a group vacation.

There really are a lot of moving parts in planning for 2010 - and so I can't honestly say "yes" yet. wE GOT TOO MANY COOKS IN THE KITCHEN OVER HERE.
