Hello Everyone!

We are excited to be joining you on this cruise! This will be our fourth Disney Cruise (assuming we don't squeeze in another one...or two) before sailing!

I am Jen, I will be 36 (yikes, that's a long time off!) when we sail.
My husband, Ron will also be 36.
We have three children...
Brendan will be 11 (This will be his birthday celebration, as his b/d is 10/14)
Savannah will be 9.
Our baby Sarah will be 2.

We are in rooms 6634 (Secret Verandah) and 6635.:thumbsup2

We just got off the Magic (Double Dip) the second cruise out of dry dock. We had a wonderful time!!! I think we pretty much consider ourselves DCL experts at this point!

I would be very interested in participating in a FE (fish extender) exchange. We also did a "Secret Mickey" gift exchange on our cruise, and that was also a lot of fun. One other thing we found convenient was having custom lanyards made up to wear onboard to identify ourselves.

I am curious, some of the other cruise threads have "named?" their cruise...is this somthing we will do as well?

Yes, we must have a name and a logo. I have somewhat OK photoshop skills and *may* be able to make one, though if someone else is more skilled in the graphic arts dept, I will most definitely defer to them!:lmao:

I do have an opinion about our cruise name, so I'll throw it out to you guys. I propose we call it "Bring Back the Magic". I thought that appropriate, since not only are we the first cruise after the rumored dry dock, we are also the first cruise after the European cruises. This phrase is also a title of a lesser known Jimmy Buffett song. I am a big parrothead and I always incorporate Buffett tunes into my cruises (seee my trip reports!).
Speaking of, I have links to the trip reports I have written (and am currently writing) in my signature, if anyone is interested!

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Jen

:yay: I knew someone would come up with an idea :yay:

Welcome to the group :cool1:

Wow, this is great...everyone so far has a birthday they will be celebrating :goodvibes

Not only will we celebrate my 37th ON the crusie, but DH turns 37th on Oct. 14th as well. We also thought of a special meal at Palo's :)

Dizzi, what day do they offer the High Tea and why did you enjoy it the most??

Hi, welcome to our little group nenner1 :wave2:

I like the "Bring Back the Magic" idea. As for me, though, I don't seem to have a creative bone in my body, so I can't offer much on the logo :confused3

Also, can you tell us a little more about your "Secret Mickey" gift exchange and info. on having the lanyards made? That all sounds interesting and fun!

Thanks both of you for the warm welcome!!:)

Secret Mickey is very much like a "Secret Santa" gift exchange. Somebody would have to coordinate it. The volunteers would be chosen at random...it would go something like this:

dizzi has Dizzylanddeb
Dizzylanddeb has MouseMadness
MouseMadness has Nenner1
Nenner1 has dizzi

So once names have been drawn, you buy a gift for the person you "selected". On our cruise we set a limit of $25 (but most people went slightly over it). The coordinator also sent out a questionnaire to answer which was then sent to "your" Secret Mickey so they would know enough about you to pick out a gift you might like. Then the fun part, you have to figure out a way to deliver the gift anonymously...for instance have their stateroom host put it in their room or have the Palo Maitre'D present it to them at dinner/brunch/tea, or have it waiting at their table at dinner. (you would know a lot of this info from the questionnaire, we did it after 75 days when the reservations for Palo were set.) It was a lot of fun...and I will say I got a fantastic gift! My Secret Mickey bought each of us Lenox Christmas Ornaments, for the kids personalized mouse ears and for Ron and I birthstone Mickeys. She swore she kept it within the budget but I don't believe her!;) The gift I gave was (wait a minute! I'm not telling...I could give another one on this cruise!:thumbsup2 )

As for the Lanyards..again someone volunteered to coordinate. That person took donations from vounteers (I believe it was $10/per person and about 15 people volunteered to contribute. I just did a quick online price check and it looks like they would cost about $1.60-$1.70 each for a minimum order of 100, so that math looks to be about right). They ordered the lanyard itself and the clear plastic holders, but they printed the tags out on their computer. They really turned out nice. Here is a picture of Sarah modeling hers:

Oooh, its so excited to be planning again! I was in a post-cruise funk there for a while!:rotfl2:

I like the lanyard idea, they look really nice. I've been poking around the cruise board for a year now and have gotten some ideas from others for door magnets and FE. I'm so looking forward to seeing all the creative ideas people have.

HEY GUYS.....

I have just sat here for an hour looking through pictures my DH just down loaded from our last cruise and vacation. i will post a couple later.

Gosh what a great time that was.

ANWAY........

My idea that my DH laughed at......since this is a WESTERN cruise i said HOW THE WEST WAS "WON"derful.......I know stupid as we are not even sailing on the WONDER but it was a q quick thought and he laughed actually about spewed Mountain DEw every whre and i gave up.

But BRINGING BACK THE MAGIC is great for me.........

If ya'll are HAPPY with it i can go and change it since i had the first post i think i can change it on the title page.

I had no idea about the supposed DRY DOCK i really didnt even realize this was the first back after Europe either.......

WELCOME NENNER1........ WE dont live too far from each other!!!

what about 3 hours.

We were just in Tampa at Busch about 5 weeks ago.

IT was a more casual atmosphere.....and dont get me wrong still a dress code and I do love to dress up.

BUT i felt i could breath and didnt have to hold my stomach in.

I went thinking it was going to be just a tea and some biscuits Not the case.

The tea was awesome and i am not a big tea fan. There was many kind of biscuits and small finger food items and cheese and crackers and then when they took that away we thought it was done and then they brought out small finger food deserts.

It was not over filling but it was JUST RIGHT!

Comparative to brunch which was my least favorite brunch takes forever and i had itin a group from this disboard and they took us from our spot to the different areas to tell us about each thing that was on the bar (serve yourself) i coul dhave eaten in the time it took him to tell us about the meal.

Dinner is wonderful dont get me wrong i love it too, a great time great food, nice to dress up and not be in a dining room full of yelling kids......But it can take a while and usually by dinner time i am exhausted.

All in all the HIGH TEA was just my CUP OF TEA...........HEEHEEE:lovestruc

We had all had matching t shirt for our 1st cruise

we also had matching bracelts with our logo name on it.

we also had matching magnets with our logo on it for our doors.

so the limit to what we do is our time money and imagination!!!!:confused3

BOOHAAAYYYYY

YIPEE SKIPEEEE

DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!

We just secured the last secret Verandah room AND an iside room across from it.

After reading nenner's post i wanted one and i was afraid DVC would not have it when it opened back up so we booked it through DISNEY CRUISE and will switch it tomorow on DVC.

7620 and 7621

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Veranda sounds wonderful. I won't know where our staterooms will be until my friend gets back on Monday. I asked her to book a Cat. 11 for DH and I and another for DS & DIL and Grandaughter. She has sailed Disney enough that I trust her to book a decent location. . . . now I can't wait to find out so I can start putting together door decorations. ;)

WHOOHOO

When we called DISNEY CRUISE........the lady did indeed say that, ours is the first cruise right after DRY DOCk........they do that every 2 years??? didnt it just come out of dry dock????????

Yep she just came out of dry dock last month. Hopefully she'll be all shined up and ready to go again for our sailing.

Hey all,

I'm Ron, Jen's (nenner1) husband. I'm the one pictured with baby Sarah and her lanyard. I've decided to join in on the fun and stop lurking and join the conversation a little bit. I think I've kept up with the thread from our previous cruise more than Jen, even though she did all the posting.

Dizzi, I'm actually jealous over your room(s). I tried to get one of the secret verandahs on deck 7, but the other day when we changed to this date our TA said the ones on 7 weren't available. Someone must've cancelled. Oh well, we'll be right under you. We'll try not to make to much noise. :rotfl:

We were on the boat just a couple of weeks ago, right out of drydock. Well actually we were supposed to be right out of drydock, but they squeezed in a 3 night cruise right before us. That was actually a good thing because they had quite a few kinks to work out before it was really ready. And actually it was still not quite ready when we got onboard, but it was ok. We actually swore we'd never do another cruise right out of drydock, but this date just worked out best for us. Hopefully they've learned from previous mistakes and they have all the work done before we set sail. :thumbsup2

I'm actually quite partial to the name "BRING Back The Magic" as opposed to the BringING back that was also mentioned. Bring Back The Magic is one of my favorite Buffett songs. BringING Back... is ok too, but IMHO that would work better for the cruise that is coming back from Europe. Bring back sounds to me like we want it back home were it belongs.

BTW, if you guys get a chance to check out Jen's trip reports, they are a great read with lots of information that could be useful to new cruisers. Really good photos, too! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Ron

RON,

If by chance we get to DVC tomorrow and it ends up not being the best deal for us do you want the room???

If so we will be calling when i get home from work tomorrow around 3pm.

Let me know on here on do a private message and tell me how i can reah you guys if by chance we dont take the Secret Verandah Room.

Yeah i guess i did add an ING to that........I WILL go ahead and change it to that could you give me the words to the BUFFET song i would love to know them!!!!

Our last cruise i made shirts for us based on a song as well.

"CALIFORNIA DREAMIN"

I've been tinkering with my photo program and came up with this cruise logo. I'm sure there are people who are more creative than I with a better photo program. We don't have to use it, but thought I'd share. There are lots of good ideas out there . . .let's get the creative juices going :goodvibes

Dizzi,
Here you go:

Bring Back The Magic
Written by: Jimmy Buffett and Will Jennings
Performed by: Jimmy Buffett
Peak Chart Position: Billboard Adult Comtemporary: #24;

Originally from the Album: Hot Water (1988)

Jimmy’s Notes:
Inspired by a Noel Rockmore painting entitled “Ride of the Beachcombers”. I bought the painting and sat with it for a morning in New Orleans and let it and the town talk to me.

Lyrics:
Chorus
Nothing can tear you apart
If you keep living straight from the heart
Though you know that you're gonna hurt some
The magic will come

If you keep living straight from the heart
you will know when to stop and to start
Once you see that no one really wins
Then the magic begins

Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic

Beachcombers ride oh children lost in the tide
Time's never at their command
Waves melt all castles of sand
Melts all castles of sand

Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic

Red sky at night such a sailor's delight
Red sky at dawn oh gypsy song's comin' on
Gypsy song comin' on
Song comin' on

Chorus
Nothing can tear you apart
If you keep living straight from the heart
Though you know that you're gonna hurt some
The magic will come

If you keep living straight from the heart
You will know when to start and to stop
Once you see that no one really wins
Then the magic begins

Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic

WELCOME...........livingis2me...........
NICE TO HAVE YOU HERE Me and Dh were just talking about him joining our thread this time around so that he can know what is going on more than just me telling him.
