I want to go to the trick or treat party on the 15th and then maybe just disneyland on the 16th. I looked at the hours and they are open super late those days. Also, all the disney resorts are booked up for the 16th. Does this mean it will be super crowded? I hate crowds, but we are only in town those two days. If anyone knows of anything going on, let me know. We may change our plans and go to Universal or Knotts. (although my dd will be so disappointed) Why so busy? I guess there's an auto show at the convention center. Or do you think it UEA? The only other time our family was at disney was Easter break of 2006 and it was miserable. The lines for the fast passes were even too long!!

It should be very busy! The choc walk is that weekend and that week is when a lot of people have their fall break. If crowds aren't your thing you may want to make other plans. However Disneyland at halloween time is very neat to see and there are ways of handling crowds.

UEA is wierd this year. It isn't a Utah state wide break from school, however some of Utah does have a fall break then.

Actually half of utah has uea this weekend and the other half is the 15th and 16th. Also a lot of arizona is on fall break at that time.

That is really the only day we have open after our cruise except for Friday.:confused3

Still wouldn't Thursday be a bit less crowded than Friday and the weekend?

I am really excited to see the longer hours and the Halloween fireworks added.

So any tips for first timers?????

Our plan is to arrive at opening and hit all the things important too us and use fastpass as much as we can....:cool1:
Then take a break in the afternoon- have dinner in DTD and then head back to DL for evening and the Fireworks??? How does that sound....We are used to working around crowds at WDW.

It surely won't be as packed as summer or Christmas?????? I am ready..We can handle it..Atleast that is what I am telling myself...:rolleyes1

I still think we need to go...We can not go to California and not visit Disneyland!!!:yay:

We are from Missouri and our DD is off 2 days that week also and the Friday before so that is why we planned our cruise and Disneyland visit at this time.

So any advice on where too sit and watch Fireworks and how early should we sit down?

We may be making a last minute trip during that time as well. We've gone the past three years in October. I expect it will be fairy crowded that day, but I think you're right in thinking that Friday and Saturday will probably be worse. If you get there before opening and use the fastpass strategies you should be fine. I'd go expecting the afternoon and evening to be pretty crowded, with the major rides having long lines (I'd expect 60-90 min for Space, Splash, etc). That's when the fastpasses will come in super handy. :-)

My kids have it off for UEA. Expect crowds. We went one year for UEA and I vowed to never go back. Invest in ridmax. Maybe this year it won't be so bad since Salt Lake schools don't have it off.

All of Southern Utah has school off Fri - Mon. Many people in the area are AP's and going that weekend. Plan on crowds.

We are also thinking about these days. we were there the 1st week of June how do you think the crowds will be compared to June?

It will be just hubby and I and our 2 kids 2 and 4 so we will not be riding any of the big rides so will it even effect us that much ? We do want to watch the fireworks , parades and such. But we will also be there longer I think the plan is to get there the 11th and leave the 17th or 18th.

Ok sorry to hijack a little I hope that is ok.

I think the longer hours were posted because Disney heard that we were coming. :lmao:
We will be in the parks the 14th-17th. We plan on crowds. I agree with the previous poster, get to the parks at rope drop, use fastpass and enjoy people watching.
We've been in the parks when they are busy. You just have to be patient, laugh a little:laughing:, and don't stress about it.

I didn't even think of fall break ... :scared1:

Does this pertain to the following week too?? (I'll be there 20th-24th).

Yes it will affect you. Expect high crowds! Much of arizona is on fall break that week.

You should expect moderate crowds but it will be much less crowded than the week before. Of course the weekend will be busy no matter which week you go.

you guys are totally bumming me out. We're going 14-18 because that's the only time we could get off for the season. Thought UEA was early Oct along with Gay Days.. then this CHOC Walk sneaks up on us out of nowhere..

::sighs::

I'd really like to enjoy disneyland again. Everytime it's crowded there's just rude people everywhere. My only hope is that the weather will be cool. If it's hot.. then I know somebody hates me. :confused3

I am with you! We figured Columbus Day would be busy but other then that we would be ok...then we found out about Gay Days...which I was happy they were when we weren't going...then I found out about CHOC walk and now fall break. Man....this is our first and probably last trip to DL so hopefully it will be ok! (I say last because its cheaper for us to go to WDW). I hope we aren't disappointed! We will be there Friday night (TOT party) Sat, Sun and Mon...so I am hoping Monday will be slow to at least have one good day!

We will be there the 14th and 15th. It seems like the 14th might be less crowded so that is our full Disneyland day, the 15th is more time at DCA. I don't mind some crowds but I hope it isn't too crazy. :yay: We are going because of fall break so I guess we are part of the problem ourselves!

:hug:That's another reason why I like to go in the winter for the holiday overlay. No matter how packed it is, and what rude people we encounter, at least it's cool. (Which kind of helps me to keep my cool, if you know what I mean.) Plus, right before the holidays people are usually more mellow and nicer to each other...We went once in October many years ago and we said never again! All I remember is Splash had a 2.5 hour wait time and it was miserably hot.
Good luck. I feel for you...

I'm glad I saw this thread.

Hubby and I have a vacation scheduled in Anaheim Oct. 15-22. We haven't finalized our plans yet (other than booking the room), so this helps us immensely.

I can totally see that Disney on that weekend is going to be out for us. That's ok, as we can substitute Six Flags Magic Mountain on those days, and Knott's on another.

I'm also crossing off the DCA ToT party. However, I wonder what the crowds are going to be like at DCA on a weekend, during their regular operation hours? Since that is the less popular of the two parks.

*scratches her head as she ponders her vacation schedule*

Hi new to this board...
What is UEA? and the choc thing...
we usually go 2 times a year and never think about the crowds. We are taking our DDBFF who just turned 18. It is her first time and we are trying to figure out what days to go to the park. They are not on break from college, just going to cut class for the week!

We are going to the Ellen show taping on the 13th but have the rest of the week unplanned. The girls want to go 2 days and us old folks just one...

Guess I need help...what days would be best? :confused3
