Oct 13, 2012 Fantasy who's going

Dan has rented his tux from the cruise site. He's going with the James Bond look...white dinner jacket. Heather and I are wearing long evening gowns. Cruise casual is just that. I'm mixing and matching. Nice black pants and different tops along with a skirt. I have a couple of long dresses for Palo brunch and semi-formal night. Long is the key for me since I have an injury that I got at Down Town Disney almost a year ago.:rolleyes1 Still dealing with it today and sporting a wrapped leg every day. :(Pirate night....we're going all out. Can't wait for this one.:yay:

I have seen that tux, very nice. Probably won't be too many of those so I should be able to pick you two out of the crowd at dinner. ;)

I also like long dresses and will be bringing several for the cruise. I'm not trying to hide anything other than maybe some unshaven legs!:rotfl:

I'm sorry that you have an injury to deal with that's not fun.
I hope you don't mind me asking, what could you have possibly done in DTD to hurt yourself like that?

:confused3

Not at all....I decided I wanted to get a better picture of a Lego creation and climbed up on the brick wall to take a shot. I slipped and banged my lower shin on the bricks. Didn't think much of it,climbed back up to get my picture and moved on. It wasn't until we were down to D-Street when I started feeling a little light headed and when I looked at my leg there was a lump about the size of a baseball. Long story... short....I almost passed out...was surrounded by emt's and left DTD in a wheelchair. I ditched the chair that evening and when I got home found out I had a serverely bruised bone. It will be a year on Oct 18th and I still have trouble wlaking unless it is wrapped up. BTW this happened on the first day of our 4 day Disney/4 day Dream cruise vacation. Dan & Heather constantly remind me...no wall climbing. I've learned my lesson.:thumbsup2

I actually purchased a tux a few years ago for cruises. You can buy one at most tuxdeo shops here. I also have 2 different colored ties and cumberbuns to match the wife's dress as much as possible :).

Wow! what a freak injury. It must be the nerves that are causing you pain still and they take forever to heal. :crazy2:
You have a little piece of Disney with you always (or maybe you left a piece of you at Disney) :p

Thanks for the tip, we will look around here for a tux. I had been looking on Amazon but with the trip getting so close it might not have time to get here and get altered.

I have so much to do before the cruise. I have to finish my fish extender, finish my fish extender gifts, make magnets, shop, and pack. Hmmm, anything else.

I think I need to ask my boss for a pre-vacation, vacation.

I'm in the same boat as you and we are leaving for Disney first on the Oct 4th.
Slight panic setting in now. :)

So we got a little crazy and got pirate costumes. Do people typically wear the costume to dinner or just for the after dinner festivities?

We have late seating if that matters - well we have requested late seating.

Late seating doesn't matter - Both early and late are encouraged to dress for pirates night. Even your server will dress up :thumbsup2

We were late seating on the Dream last year and our Table mates 50s couple and Daughter all dressed up. And the parents costumes were really good.:)

A Question about the Door Magnets,

When you glue the Magnets to the laminate do you glue a small cover of material on the side of the magnet that touches the door to stop scratches occuring.

Hmmm...I never thought of that and I've never done it.:confused3I don't believe you will scratch the door unless you have sharp magnets.:lmao:I purchased little round magnetic buttons. They just stick on and you're done. BTW...we'll be at the World on the 9th...can't wait.:goodvibes

I just wondered if they scratched the Doors, going to buy flat round ones.

We are down at Vero Beach from the 5th until the Cruise. Have a great time at the World. :)

For those who have never cruised Disney before. If you are participating in the fish extender game, and/or going to decorate your door with magnets, please know that there are some precautions you should take.

Be sure to carry a couple of 'zip-ties' aka 'cable ties' with you to attach your fish extender to its post. And also be sure that your FE is personalized in some manner. This will keep people from taking the FE with all the gifts.

For the magnets I have a rule of thumb, if you can't live without it, don't put it up (or follow the next rule) If it's a magnet I really really can't live without I usually make a copy of it for the door. Most magnets are flat so you can put it into a scanner/copier to make a copy of it. If this won't work then take a close-up picture of your magnet & print the pic onto paper & then put that on your adhesive magnet/round magnets from walmart. Then you can leave the good one home & not worry. Another thing I do to all of my magnets, I write on the back of them. If you printed on magnetic paper use a silver marker. I usually write "this magnet was permanently "borrowed" from the McDonald family in cabin #_" At least they might get embarassed about it! LOL If it's a magnet I can really remake easily & don't care about I don't write anything on it, I sometimes don't mind 'loaning' them out to othersl If it makes 'em happy I'm glad I helped.

It is sad to think that people will swipe stuff from your doors, but not everyone is a model citizen, including some on ships. Plus you get the kids just pulling pranks on people.

I just finished my FE gifts! I thought they would never get done!

Yea! all bagged and ready to go!

 :cool1:

Yesterday I was able to make dinner reservations at Palo for Thursday. Today there are still reservations available for Thursday. Sooooooo, that would lead me to believe there is a reason to not eat at Palo on Thursday. I checked the dining rotation schedule that one of you very helpful people posted. It looks like it would be a perfect night for Palo.

Am I missing something?

Thank you in advance for all the help.

I think that would be the perfect night to do Palo or Remy. I'm guessing that most people probably don't know the dining rotations.

We base all our reservations on what our kids are doing. We are doing dinner at Palo on Pirate night, that way, we can miss dinner, but do the buffet with the kids later. Our kids are teens/adults now, so they don't miss us. When they were little, we never missed dinner with them, so we did brunch.

We are also doing Palo on Pirate night because My son is a Teen and then we can do buffet later.
If Thursday fits nicely for your Family then Book and Enjoy.:) but...Below added Later.

:scratchin I had a look at the Rotation of event nights and the 6th night is the Semi Formal Captains Gala Dinner and the Captains meet and Greet in the Atrium before Dinner, photo with the Captain etc.

This may be a Reason as some like to Do Formal and it's Lobster on the Menu, I have heard that Palo do Lobster as a Special on Captains Gala Night. So you won't miss Lobster.
