Oct 13, 2012 Fantasy who's going

Just a little info for those who are interested. We usually vacation Disney in October. In Colorado we get a week for Fall break and there are some other states that do it as well. We find that it is perfect weather and the crowds are not to bad. Our last Disney cruise was also during our fall break and there were plenty of kids for my kids to meet but I imagine not as many as there would be in the summer. That being said there are only a certain amount of people and kids that can be booked on the ship due to the number of lifeboats. I don't know what that number is but I do expect the pools to be more crowded than our last cruise which was on the Wonder and held less people but had the same amount of pools. We will see how it turns out.

Hi everyone! I just received my DCL confirmation info in the mail. That got me back in cruise mode! Boy this thread is busy. I have been away and it took me a long time to read all of the posts that I had missed.

I love all of the new pictures of the Fantasy it looks like it is going to be the best ship of them all! I can't wait to sail!

Thanks for posting the horn battle that was awesome! I actually got teary eyed watching it. Disney is my happy place. :lovestruc

Glad you are back and ready to go. Thanks for you input on traveling on the cruise. It is always good to get others point of view.

Some were asking about some of the things for kids. I found a you tube video about things that kids and teens do. Click on the link. It's pretty interesting. :surfweb:

speaking teary eyed - went to see Harry Potter movie yesterday. One thing about going to Downtown Disney to the movie theater is it may be packed at DD; but, the theatre is virtually empty in the middle of the afternoon.

The movie is excellent, yes - I did get teary eyed in several spots. Should get some kind of award for effects. Absolutely well worth seeing.

Is anybody else a Harry Potter nut? I think those films will be around for a long time - one way or another.

This is where the shuttle boat dropped us off at Grand Cayman in 2004.

Another view, same area, take note a Harley Davidson store, I know I was surprised. Bought a shirt there. Now that I am retired I wear it.

I haven't been on for awhile... my laptop died, and checking on my phone is just too much of a hassle, and my desktop is too accesible to kids who still don't know about this. Someone asked when and how we are going to tell them. We haven't decided yet. They know we are going in Oct 2012, and it is out of the country, but that is all they know. We had to tell them why we weren't going on a trip this summer. I would love to get a room at WDW the night before and be lucky enough to go to MNSHP that night and then get up in the morning like we were going to the parks and suprise head to the ship instead, but we will see. In MN we have teacher convention this week in October, so it is a good week for us to travel, only have to pull the kids out for a few days. Not much else, just trying to beat the heat here in MN. It has been nasty hot!

Just checking in. I could get lost on these boards. So much good information for a brand-spankin-new disney cruiser like me! Have begun buying Disney clothes for my granddaughter to wear on the ship. It is my goal to have her in all Disney attire for the cruise. My fish extender and magnets still in the works. So hard to wait for over a year:eek: Looking forward to getting to know people on this thread who will be sailing with us. Hope all are well:goodvibes

Have you all seen the latest picture of the Fantasy?

Sometimes it's real difficult to keep secrets from kids, especially when you are so excited about it. When we get closer and if you decide to tell them there are kid forums they can post on.
With the heat this is a great time to have a pool of any size. :thumbsup2
There will probably be a lot of people staying at WDW the night before. On the trip to and from the port there are always a lot of Disney buses on sailing days. MNSSHP is also a great plus and the halloween parade is really cool.

Have you all seen the latest picture of the Fantasy?

I love my Disney clothes and there are so many more Disney stores around. My daughter loves going to them up in Jersey. It's good to see everyone posting.
Do you have a copy of the newest picture of the Fantasy?
Been watching the roller skating nationals on live screen on the internet. I am an avid skater. Could have gone, I did place at regionals. I decided to see my Grandson get married at Nags Head. I can always do nationals next year.

Who did the image for the "swashbucklers of the caribbean?" Any way to get a larger copy of that image so I can make a door magnet?

If you would like a copy of the pic of the logo you can send me a e-mail and I will send it to you. It would look great as a door magnet. Then if you want you could add it to your signature.

Also, I am considering making a scarf. This could also be done in a tee shirt format.

I am skaterbjill@gmail.com.

No pics today. I am multi-tasking. Watching roller skating nationals on the computer. (A lot of my friends my NJ and FL are skating) On the tv watching old time tv shows and on the other tv I have a VCR to DVD device. What that does is takes all my obsolete vhs tapes and converts the shows to DVD. The majority of the tapes are from 1990's. And I havn't watched them since I taped them. Kind of cool to see them again. :happytv: :surfweb:

So, everyone have a great day. :goodvibes

I have seen all of the movies except the last one so thanks for the heads up. I will be sure to bring tissues! :thumbsup2 My DH has read the books and seen the movies and my girls love everything Harry Potter but they have only seen movies 1-3 because the rest are a little to dark for them yet. We threw DH a Harry Potter birthday party one year complete with glasses for everyone to wear! We are really just big kids and little kids at our house. party:

One of the funny things I've seen is some people come to WDW after going to the Harry Potter theme park is a lot are wearing the burgundy and yellow scarf the kids wore at Hogwarts. :)

Speaking of Harry Potter. At the roller skating nationals and they just had precision team skating and a portion of the music was from Harry Potter. Made me smile and gave me goosebumps :worship:

Have you ridden on the new Harry Potter ride at universal? We were thinking about taking one day when we go to Disney in Oct. and visiting universal just for that ride. Is it a rollercoaster? My DD6 may be just tall enough for the ride by the time we get there but I am thinking that it may be to scary for her. Any input on that would be appreciated. :wizard:

No, havn't been there yet. Waiting for the summer season to be over and the crowds to die down. Really looking forward to it. I want to get a wand and a scarf. It looks like a rollercoaster. There are some videos on youtube of the ride. It appears to be a darkride and Harry & Malfoy are on their broomsticks at one point. Check it out.

I have seen a couple of youtube videos and still can't tell if it is a rollercoaster or not. I think that we will just plan to skip it for this Oct. Maybe by the time we get to ride it my girls will have seen all of the movies and it will have more meaning for them.
