 I just checked the DCL website and noticed that the Oct 1, 2005 Eastern cruise date is not listed anymore. I just booked this cruise two weeks ago and have my confirmation. What does this mean? I also noticed that the Oct 8, 2005 Western is not listed as well. I won't be able to call anyone until tomorrow so I'm a little concerned as to what is going on!

I just checked these dates on Expedia and they show as sold out. It would be unusual for a corporate booking to be 1 (much less 2) 7 day cruises instead of a 3 or 4 day one.

jjpounds - I'd be a bit concerned. Did you call DCL to ask about it? If so, what did they say?

Could that be their next drydock? It would be two years from the October 2003 drydock. Just a thought.

:crazy2: :scared: :faint: Ok please, before I have complete heart failure, someone please give a logical explaination for this. ;) :teeth:

As Ive said many times here I really had my heart set on a 7 day Western for my 10th anniversary in July 05. When that started looking like it wasnt going to happen(a few months ago) I booked the 10/8/05 Western and thought I was in the clear. Now this??? WHAT does it mean? :earseek:

CamColt - If you call DCL, let us know what they say. I hope your cruise is still intact! ***PD***

DH just called. At first the CM just said they are not taking any more reservations for that cruise. She didnt seem to know why. DH asked if she could find out. She went to check with someone and they didnt really have an answer. Just mainly that they arent accepting more reservations, but according to her it still is a Western(the 10/8) cruise and we should be on it. Im not very confident about this.

Thanks for the pixie dust CRSNDSNY! :D

Not sure they have another dry dock next year, and its always 2 weeks. I think it should be in 2006. May be worth telephoning DCL. Nat:Pinkbounc

Hi Nat,

I thought I read in the OP that the 10-1 and the 10-8 sailings were both blacked out, that's why my first thought was another drydock, I wasn't sure how often the ships go in for drydock.

Hi there:Hope you are doing ok! Not heard that another dry dock is due next year, but maybe the crew are the last to know! Haha. If that is why the ship is" out of action", then I know a few CM's who will be glad of another trip to Virginia!Take care. Nat:Pinkbounc

Relax, it is probably simply sold out. :teeth:

Boy, conspiracy theories run rampant on here, huh? :earseek: :duck:

I wonder if it is part sold by an organization or corporation. It would be so surprising if a cruise during this 'slow' season were sold out over a year in advance. Even the more popular cruises aren't sold out yet -- Christmas 04 or 05.

Can't wait to know more. I have 2 rooms on the Oct 8 Western. Will check on my ressie when I get home (& have access to the #) today. Or I might even call DCL to check on it & hear what they have to say.

If it is sold out, would it still be listed anyway? If so, is could be sold out early because of all those people who wanted to do a 7 night in the summer of 2005, but can't since the ship won't be back until September. That could cause a ressies rush in the Fall.

I'll be watching b/c I wanted an October 05 cruise too.

I too doubt it would be totally sold out this early. Especially where the CM didnt say that...all she said was they arent taking any more reservations for that cruise.

CGC33A, be sure to let us know what they tell you.

And BTW, jjpounds, thanks for posting about this and calling it to our attention.

I cant believe Im actually considering booking a California cruise now. ;)

Just wanted to say that our 7 night Halloween cruise in 2001 was half chartered by some large coporation, so it is certainly a possibility on the 7 day cruises.

Greysword,

It is VERY unusual for an October cruise to be sold out more than a year out, I would bet none of the October cruises for THIS year are even sold out. That is the reason for the conspiracy theories

There is most likely some sort of LARGE group booking happening, but definitely strange that it would be two weeks in a row, maybe they are blacking both out until the LARGE "group" decides which one they want!!??!!

If I were on one of these cruises, I would call DCL everyday until I found out definitively WHAT was up?? Our experience with that large corporation on our Halloween sailing was not entirely pleasant! It just made for a very STRANGE cruise experience, though one we will surely never forget!!

Best of luck to all you guys, hope you get some answers soon.

Well, I called & checked. My ressie is still intact. The CM was surprised that there were no early Oct. cruises available (first one Oct 15). She was unable to give me an explanation other than "it's not unusual for cruises to be sold out" I agreed if it was Christmas, Easter or Spring break, but "shoulder season" October almost a year and a half out-NO WAY (unless group space bought out the rest).
The question I failed to ask was : can I add people to my ressie? I booked 2 staterooms & put 1A & 1C in each (to reserve space in the kids club) And wanted to add others to the ressie. Now I don't know if I can.

When DCL cancelled the cruise for this October- didn't they say that once they knew that the cruise might be booked by a company that they stopped taking reservations for that particular cruise? I'll bet that's what's happening- DCL is preparing to book the entire cruise- so they aren't accepting any new ressie's for that cruise so they only have a limited number of people to contact about it. I hope that's not the case for those of you alfeady booked! GOOD LUCK! Pleas elet us know when you find out!

If that happens, I hope I have a good bargaining chip to use on another date (the one in October is usually Fall break for my school age child. I will likely know the calendar for 05-06 next month to know for sure which date we could go on). I think DCL treated the people from the canceled (Norwalk issues) cruise pretty well. Hopefully if they cancel the October dates, they will be generous in the reschedule aspect. It's so far in advance I don't have any real expectations yet.

The Magic will be in dry dock for refurbishment. Each of the Disney ships goes into dry dock every other fall. The last time the Magic went into drydock was last fall. It will be due again in fall of 2005. The first two sailings of the Magic in October 2005 will be canceled and passengers will be rebooked on other sailings. DCL will be contacting everyone next week.
