We are going on our 1st Disney Cruise in December. My daughter will be 5 at the time of the cruise and we are looking forward to her being able to enjoy the programs they have on the boat. Are there any reccomendations or feedback(neg. or pos.) about it, I am a little nervous about leaving her at the club by herself!
Thanks!

Of course everyone has their own opinion...but I would just let your DD know that she can leave the club anytime she wants to...all she has to do is ask and the CM will page you. That may alleve any apprehension she has enough to enjoy the club and all it has to offer. Our DD5 is all about Disney and princesses! Went on the 3 day Wonder in 2002 when she was 3 1/2 and then this past fall when she was 5. She loved everything about the club and she really missed it after we left and came home. Still remembers and talks about experiences in the club from both cruises! The CMs really made her feel special, she loved making new friends, doing the activities in the club and dressing up. One thing she still comments about is the 'secret passage' they use to take the kids to meals. Good memories she will have for a lifetime! Also, parents are more than welcome to hang out with their child until they are comfortable enough for you to leave. Have you all have fun!

P.S. If you have Palo reservations, be sure to tell the CMs you are at Palo. I have heard the CMs will do everything they can to help your child so you can get have an enjoyable adult meal.

I haven't been on a Disney Cruise yet (this April), but I can share an experience from our vacation last year that had a kids club. My son (7 at the time) wanted nothing to do with the club - that is, until we got him there. We told both our kids to check it out for an hour. I came back an hour later and my son didn't want to see us for the rest of the trip. He even wanted to eat dinner with the other kids, which I resisted, until I finally gave in realizing it was his vacation, too. I did make him promise to have dinner with us on the last night! My daughter, age 4 at the time, had a tougher time. She goes to day care but always struggles with unfamiliar places and faces at first. She was less comfortable, so I didn't push it. She spent most of the vacation with me and my husband. Occasionally, she would ask to go, but I would check back on her regularly. They didn't have pagers at this resort - a huge bonus - because I actually think she might have stayed for a couple of hours. But once she saw me, that was it. She was done. I just think every child is different.

The Oceaneers Club is all my now 9 y/o can talk about. And my daughter )5 1/2) is getting excited too. I don't have high expectations, nor do I expect them to stay there the entire time. It is a family vacation, so we should all be happy. Although I do hope she'll let me squeeze in a massage or two!!!!
