Oceaneer Bands - Disney Magic

...... Lol. I think it's been too long since I've been on a cruise. I'm starting to forget details. July is too long to wait. I had better book another ASAP.

Or Disney has you trained well ..... More $ $ $ . Everything is hundreds. :rotfl2:

:goodvibes

The Mickey bands were great. Along with the new bands(yes, we kept ours) the computer system is different. They took updated pictures of us at the port. When you take your child out of the club and they tap the band, it brings up the child's picture as well as a picture of all authorized adults who can pick the child up along with asking for your password. I felt like that was an added security feature. The band fit much more comfortably than the old Mickey bands.

I was told that they will add this to all the ships in the near future.

Ohhh, I like this!

Maybe there is something in those new bands emitting a hypnotic homing signal to convince you to return to the ship if you let your kids take them home? ;)

This "updated technology" has been on the Dream (when we sailed her 2 years ago) and the Fantasy 3 weeks ago. When I would go to pick up my kid they would scan my card, i'd point to the kids i wanted to pick up (anyone you have permission to pick up will show up if you are linked with other state rooms). They could also go into those of us authorized to pick up the kids & associate specific wave phones with people. Of note - the compters were recessed, but i'm nosy :)

You're absolutely right, the computers have existed for years! What we're referring to as being updated is the photo coming up as well. :rotfl2: I'm sure none of us think the authorized adult system is new in itself :lmao:

Why do you have to return them at the end? Are they re-using them? If so, does anyone know the cleaning process they go through? I understand a fee in the middle of the cruise if someone misplaces them, but I don't understand charging at the end if they aren't turned in. Kind of grosses me out to think they may be re-using them.
Also, I'm assuming you can't bring them from the parks and have them work on the cruise. Can you?

They have lots of cleaning routines in the club for everything. The units they are phasing out had a higher penalty charge if it was lost or not turned in. They were definitely reused. Since these are only $12-$13, I would expect more parents to elect to keep them. No the bands from the parks won't work on the ship. They are designed differently.
